We stayed here as part of our staycation in Sept 21.
Perfect location right next to the lake- Bowness. The welcome to the hotel was wonderful with pleasant staff and a tour of the hotel from concierge Mark, who gave us some tips about the hotel, very polite gentlemen.

We paid for the hot tub room and were not disappointed. It was a lovely extra to have on the evening, after a long walk up Scafell Pike during the day. Plastic cups were provided to ensure you could enjoy a safe drink in the hot tub.

We ordered tapas late afternoon which was tasty and reasonably priced. We sat on the veranda which had great views of the lake and very comfortable chairs with a fire pit and blankets for when the sun had set.

The only minus we had was the room rate was £375 for one night only, yet it didn’t include breakfast as standard. We stayed in other hotels in the area for less with similar facilities and breakfast included. In our opinion this should be included for the price we paid.

I would recommend booking on the hotels website as opposed to other apps as parking then comes as standard.

We would stay again for the hot tub and the general surroundings, as the hotel is genuinely a spot of luxury & a great location with parking.

The staff are amazing from being greeted by name at the entry lodge to superb check in at reception the staff are a credit to the hotel..... Lovely room with a view overlooking the terrace and lake beyond. The room was spotless however no side table to put cups on when making tea or coffee so had to put them on the floor also would benefit from a chest of drawers as there was a lack of draw space. An issue if you are staying more than 2 nights. Breakfast was a big disappointment not only was the breakfast a buffet service, but also the tea and coffee was also serve yourself, not really expected in a 5* hotel. Cause for concern with the Spa and Spa area, mobile phones are allowed in ..... guests taking photos even videos within the Spa area. When I went in the Sauna another guest was on their mobile, not really expected when going for a relaxing Spa break. When questioned with staff at the pool bar and reception we were told they do not have a mobile phone policy in the Spa area. We are raised our concerns as a safeguarding issue to which the response was you swam after 7pm (children can stay in the pool until 7pm!) . Overall chose this hotel for a Spa break so somewhat of a let down in that respect. Overall the staff are the reason we gave this hotel a |Very Good otherwise if would have been lower.

My husband and I were lucky enough to to be able to get a way for a mini break last month. We both thought the hotel was lovely and were impressed that upon arrival we were greeted at the gate by our names (nice touch). After a long drive it was a lovely warm welcome arrival where we were given cookies at check in, after checking that neither of us had any food allergies.

I had called on the way up to check whether we were able to add an additional spa treatment to our booking and following a bit of moving around of my time they were able to book my husband in too. We were shown to our room by Mark who was able to show us the controls on the hot tub on the balcony amongst some of the other room amenities and the floating bed got a mention. We were asked if we would like a hotel tour and we politely declined as after a long journey we needed some time just to relax.

The hotel is spread out and includes a pub, cocktail bar, terrace (with lake views), spa, restaurant, breakfast room and bike rental area, there are rooms across the buildings and car parking spaces for patrons.

We made use of our lovely hot tub and the weather during our stay was also glorious. It was mentioned by hotel staff not that we had asked that late check outs are not possible for hot tub rooms due to the clean/draining required before new guests can check in, 11am check out was fine for us as we wanted to visit the lake on our last day having been to windermere many times, this was in the main q relaxing break. It is possible to remain on site after check out until 1pm but we did take our car so that we didn’t need to rush back.

We enjoyed the food and drinks in the 3 eateries during our stay (bar, restaurant and pub). Our only very minor gripe was that my spa treatment although delightful felt shorter than it should have been. On mentioning this on check out we were advised that due to adding my husband in for a treatment they had changed mine to a wrap and mini facial, but I was still charged the full price. This appeared to be an error and miscommunication between the hotel and spa. The hotel team kindly refunded the difference and apologised for the confusion, these things happen and it didn’t detract from the lovely treatment. We would recommend this hotel, hot tub rooms are a bonus our only issue was being able to hear everything in the adjacent rooms. This didn’t affect our stay enough complain and there are signs about noise and using the hot tubs on the balcony’s so other guests may just need to be a little more considerate of their neighbours.m

It’s been a long 2022 for us so decided to go to the Lakes Hotel & Spa and relax for a few days. We stayed in a Spa apartment , we had been there for approx 3 hours when we got the strong smell of cannabis but let it go but later when returning to our apartment the smell was back, not only outside but inside also. We reported to reception the following morning that we could smell cannabis really strong even at breakfast in our room and we wasn’t prepared to stay there considering we had paid over £500 for 2 nights. We was offered a smaller room with no kitchen which we declined as we wanted the kitchen and we was offered a free breakfast. The receptionist pretty much told us they knew which room was the problem but decided to do nothing so can only assume it’s a returning customer which they know about but we could be wrong. We was promised that our room would be cleaned that day but not surprisingly it never happened. They just chose to not deal with the problem which was really disappointing. Please do not stay in a Spa apartment as all we could hear was what people was saying in adjoining rooms and even had to listen to the guy in the room above us urinating whilst we were laid in bed at night, it was terrible. The Spa is like walking into an 18-30 party, kissing and petting in pool and women with next to no clothes on either taking selfies or getting their partners to take it of them. When going from your seat to the jacuzzi, pool or steam room, you have to dodge empty Prosecco glasses. Not enough room in the spa and no where near enough seating to accommodate the amount of people in there. Good luck with getting a parking space and then being told to pay £12 a night for parking after forking out over £500 is very hard to accept. This place is not for us and hope people read our review before deciding if it’s for them or not.

The biggest asset this hotel has it's its staff. We were cheerfully greeted by a gentleman at the entrance as we drove in and then checked in by the equally happy, cheerful and informative receptionist, the concierges were extremely helpful too. It was a lovely day when we arrived so we went to the terrace for cocktails - unfortunately we had a really long wait, even when reminded, and the staff here were not so great, so we didn't return.

We stayed in one of the apartments above the spa and found it, although fairly newly decorated, quite dreary (white walls may have been a better choice). Tea, coffee, milk & water were provided. The apartment was for 4 people but would be pretty cramped with more than 2 people. The bedding was clean & comfortable , although I imagine on a hot day it would be pretty uncomfortable in the bedrooms - as it was very warm in there on a cold day.

We had a lovely meal at the hotel on the first evening.

Breakfast was self service and there was a good range of cooked and cold breakfast but I must say the bacon & sausages were bland and the scrambled egg looked awful, which was a great disappointment . It would be really worthwhile to source good quality local produce.

The spa was lovely and had quiet times if you timed it well. The bar was good as were the staff.

All in all, we would stay again as its very well placed for all the local attractions and is a lovely hotel . We wanted a spa room but unfortunately the hotel was fully booked which is why went for the apartment.

Love this place just visited 30th Jan for one night a friends get together for 4 . We had a luxury room 148 with jacuzzi it was excellent . Everything was fabulous and all the staff were second to none nothing was too much trouble from arriving at the barrier where the welcome was beyond good to getting us extra glasses and mugs for our room, it was raining and our entrance was outside but that customer care in the rain with umbrella just didn't phase the staff, we were also given a guided tour of all amenities everyone so friendly never been to a hotel where all the staff were as friendly a credit to the owners . The hotel is very luxurious and all the bars , restaurants are gorgeous . We had a lovely first night in our room with our own jacuzzi took our own food and drink so we could have a good catch up . Today 31st we checked out then used the spa pools till lunch time then ate and drank in the cocktail bar where the food and drink was also excellent and great prices , I will definitely be back can't wait. My friend reiterated these excellent observations to the duty manager and thanked her for excellent customer care .

I visited the hotel in May 2021 and I was shocked to find no hand sanitizer in the breakfast buffet room - baring in mind hundreds of guests are using the same utensils to serve their breakfast as well as touching the juice dispensers. I was amazed the hotel hadn't thought about this. It took me asking a week after they had reopened, and they then put a bottle of sanitiser in the middle of the buffet. I think there should be proper procedures in place, including sanitising stations before and after entry to the buffet.

Where to begin?! We travelled for my partners 30th birthday and everything planned was a surprise. The staff were amazing from start to finish - the concierge Shaun was so friendly and gave us a tour and complimentary proseccos on the outdoor deck for my partner's birthday which was a lovely touch. There was a lovely lady on reception who's name I've forgotten but began with an M...she was great at hiding things so the surprises weren't spoiled! The pub staff were incredible too. On arrival we were given warm cookies which was a really nice touch and our room was prepared much earlier than the check in time which was helpful.

The outdoor deck is incredible day and night - the day we travelled was scorching so sat outside with drinks and enjoyed the amazing view of lake windermere - I had lots of people asking me if we were abroad! In the evening we returned from a local restaurant and sat on the outside deck again with the fires lit and watched the sun go down which was amazing.

The pub food was lovely and freshly prepared, the spa was great and I loved that there was a window into the pub so you could order drinks from the pub while in the spa!! Our room had a hot tub on the balcony which was great too and I liked that there was an option to order drinks to the tub!

The room, bathroom and hot tub were spotlessly clean, and we were given little chocolates and an Elemis product on our pillows. They even wrote "Happy 30th Birthday" on the mirror which was a fab touch!

We had the best trip and the hotel well and truly exceeded our expectations. I couldn't have asked for anything more and I have already recommended the hotel to all my friends and family, especially for a special occasion as they really did go above and beyond. Thank you so much for the best trip!! ❤

Our room was a total rip off and tiny. It was fine if you didn’t want to unpack, have a stone wall as your backboard, use the desk, walk around the bed, or you have a preference for washing your hands in the sink, and feet in the shower whilst sat on the toilet. The mattress was shockingly bad which they changed after the first night and the window was either closed and room roasting or fully open with constant noises through the night; of which there was a lot. The manger was the most unhelpful and uninterested I’ve ever encountered. The food was quite good, but if you can’t deliver pink duck with a crispy skin, don’t be so pretentious as to write that on the menu. Being a frequent traveller, I can honestly say I’ve never had poorer value for money. Over £700 for 2 nights in a room worse than a travelodge, and they have the cheek to charge for parking on top. I can safely say I won’t be visiting again!

First visit to the Hotel and was not disappointed. Wanted a treat after working hard through COVID so had the Windermere suite. Lovely room with great views from balcony which had hot tub.
Spa facilities are clean, tidy and well run and the bar is a bonus. Took advantage of massage treatment which was wonderful and not too expensive.
Evening food in the restaurant is delicious although menu could be changed as it was the same all week. Service was excellent and the staff very friendly. Breakfast is a buffet, not what I had expected for the price being paid, but fresh food was brought out regularly.
Booked direct with Hotel, much better doing it that way because you know what you are getting ( Thank you Amelia, you are fantastic ) and the small amount saved by going through a Booking Agent is made up for by not paying for parking.
No WiFi but then again I am not prone to having my phone in my hand all of the time like some, although a few did actually put the phone down to eat with a knife and fork.
Will definitely be revisiting in the very near future.

I think you have to pay extra to have breakfast in the hotel but you’ll probably be able to book and reserve a table for the restaurant? Maybe ring them and just ask. The staff are lovely on reception. I’m pretty sure your daughter will be allowed to use the pool in the spa but again i would just double check with the staff.
Answer from Amy T
Yes it is. You can get the train to Windermere. Then either get a taxi to the hotel or even better book the Bentley pickup service that the hotel offers directly to the hotel.
