Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

The Angel Inn enjoys a prime location that guests consistently applaud, finding themselves close to local attractions and enjoying stunning views. The hotel's dining options and atmosphere are often described as enjoyable, though some guests suggest that housekeeping could be improved. Service experiences at the hotel are mixed; staff are frequently commended for being friendly, but slow service and organizational issues have been noted.
Room quality seems to vary, with mentions of both spacious, clean rooms and smaller, less maintained ones. While the overall cleanliness receives praise, opinions on value and amenities diverge, with some guests finding great package deals and others feeling that prices don't always match the offerings.

Detailed Reviews
Booking was very simple ( this does not come up on booking.com and you need to go to there own website to book).
I was pleasantly surprised at the price, £90 B&B on a Sunday night was a bargain. Loved the fact check out was 11am!!
Location is great, everything you would want to see or places you would want to visit are within walking distance.
Felt very safe - this establishment takes the new H&S seriously (even had complimentary hand gel in the rooms).
Breakfast was amazing and all the staff we dealt with were great.
Will be returning

We are just back from a 5 night stay at The Angel inn . We had a really good stay in Room 14 which is one of the brightest rooms we have stayed in with windows on 3 walls and a chair in one window looking out down to Lake Windermere. The room is massive with a king size bed and then an area with 2 sofas coffee table and large Tv. The bathroom was also big with a bath and large separate walk in shower . Due to covid the towels were changed everyday and the bed made but that was all we would have wanted . Breakfast is included each morning with fast friendly service and they were happy to serve poached eggs on toast when not an actual menu option , the little croissant were really nice as were the American pancakes although the helping was huge . The staff at breakfast never seemed to stop when not serving they were busy cleaning and tidying . They all seemed so happy and friendly that they must all be really happy in their jobs . The Angel has got it just perfect .

We visited the Angel for food and it was amazing! It was honestly the best food we have eaten post lockdown. We sat outside and tables are well spaced, ordering food and drinks is easy and everything arrived quickly. The steak was cooked to perfection and the king prawn & chorizo starter was delicious. There was plenty of hand sanitiser around and the measures put in place for the toilets was reassuring. We would definitely recommend!

A great place, peaceful and good views.
However, The Annexe across the road in Oakbank House is located on a very steep hill as is the walk up to the front door then the stairs to the rooms.
The new Owners, The Inn Collection have not thought thins out. There are no hangers/hooks to hank wet jackets/coats in the rooms, no plug/socket for those of us that use electric razors, this I reported the very next day but staff were not that interested. I had to walk around Bowness for a while in the hope of finding a multi conversion plug/socket at the cost of £20.99. Housekeeping failed to check the tea making facilities in the rooms, shame they didn't refill them, so once again I had to ask.
Now the breakfast, the bacon must have just been shown the frying pan as it was practically raw, the toast, was just warm bread and the sausages were only just about cooked. This we reported to a lady colleague and she was shocked and stated that she would mention it. The next day we had a great breakfast, great thanks. However, Management should keep an eye on their chefs in case they slip up again.
The staff/waiting on staff were brilliant and with great service, thanks.
It would be nice to be reimbursed my £20.99 (Receipt can be provided)
All in all fix coat/jacket hooks in the rooms and install a shaving socket/plug.

Just back from a 2 night stay at Angel Inn.
Warm and friendly check-in making myself and partner feel instantly at ease.
The Room was compact but clean, very comfortable and had everthing we needed, ensuite was really clean with well stocked complimentary shower/shampoo etc.
The selection at breakfast was fantastic and the cooked breakfasts were tasty and well presented. We didnt dine at the Inn for evening meals but if the quality of the breakfast was a benchmark then im sure the lunch/evening offerings would be just as magnificent.
Bar prices were very reasonable and all of the staff we interacted with very cheery, friendly and skilled at focusing on their customers.
The location is superb if you want to abandon the car as the lake, shops, bars and restaurants are all literally on the doorstep.... yet its so peaceful and quiet at night.
If i had to pick one fault it would be the lack of parking / residents parking bring utilised by non residents popping up for lunch/dinner. It was fine for us but for older/ mobility impaired could have an issue if returning from a day out to find a full car park and some steep hills to negotiate to find alternative parking.
Overall great value for money, lovely bunch of staff, great food and fabulous location. Would definitely recommend.

We had previously stayed here some years ago and had a lovely time so we were excited about returning. What a shock when we arrived!
The once privately owned hotel has now been taken over by a hotel chain and it is sadly very obvious.
There is an overall lack of enthusiasm by the staff, absolutely zero customer service and they all look so miserable.
On arrival we were 15 minutes early ( check -in is at 3pm) and whilst we didn’t expect to go to our room before then we thought there may be a possibility….no such luck! The lady on reception, once she acknowledged our presence, told us quite bluntly to sit in the bar as housekeeping hadn’t finished our room. Suddenly at bang on 3pm it was ready!!
On the hotel website it states food is served daily from 07:30 and all menus in house state the same but breakfast wasn’t served until 8am and despite us asking one day if we could eat at 07:30 ( we were out on an early trip ) the hotel refused.
There was absolutely no flexibility in staff approach to making our stay a good experience.
We booked a Superior Double room ( Rm 11 ) and even though it was clean and comfortable I doubt very much it was superior room, it was tiny and very cramped.
The food is mediocre at best and very over priced….
One item on the breakfast menu stated ….
“Eggs on Toast: Eggs of your choice on thick cut farmhouse loaf”
Poached eggs fine, but bread was a thin slice from supermarket cut loaf!
We did mention our concerns at the time as I believe in giving the staff a chance to turn the experience around. I think the person we spoke to was quite embarrassed and said he’d pass on our concerns. Let’s hope it’s taken note of and changes are made for future guests.
Not sure we’ll return in the future!

Surprise birthday present for the wife and I's 50th's. We stayed in the 'Superior double lake view' (room 1) for two nights. We arrived from Hull at 850pm (unfortunately held up) and was greeted by "Chris", we just presumed we had missed our evening meal (paid for) as the restaurant was busy and the cut off point is 9pm. We were prepared to accept this but Chris advised us to check in AFTER our meal and promptly found us a table (very kind!!) That was a great start........and it just got better!! ALL the staff were super friendly, meals were top quality (sausage and mash recommended) but the most striking thing (in my opinion) was the cleanliness of our room (one) it was a fair size, super comfy double bed and huge bathroom with separate shower and stand alone deep bath, all the chrome/silver was sparkling and all the white areas (toilet, bath etc) was absolutely spotless. It's obvious the cleaners take pride in their work. Every time we left, returned to the hotel/restaurant we were greeted with a friendly face and a nice smile. All the drinks /extras was put 'on the room' without any fuss so there was just one cash transaction as we left, everything is run on practicality, common sense and good old fashioned "trust" which makes a pleasant change nowadays. It's a gorgeous part of the country, with plenty to do and we'd have no hesitation in booking the Angel Inn again, as we were so well looked after. Chris (I'm presuming the manager??) clearly takes pride in his hotel and leads a strong team. Thoroughly recommended and we'd like to say a big thank you to everyone for making it a wonderful birthday weekend. See you again soon (hopefully lol) x

Been going the Angel Inn for about 8 years now and to find it has been taken over by a chain raised some eyebrows, I didn't really pay much attention to the price for the weekend, but it has increased from previous years and looking back it seems to be increasing every year. £179 per night for the Petite room is extremely expensive, it is a prime location, but you would expect for that price to have a better view or even a bottle of water in the room upon arrival. I managed to meet ex employees from the Angel inn in a bar in Windermere and they all said they left when it was taken over.
All in all a lovely hotel but rooms and food (£11 for a sandwich) is way too much for what they offer.
Think that will probably be our last stay unless prices decrease

Just come back from a one night stay with my boyfriend and little boy. Absolutely fantastic. We were in the building across the road, Oakbank House in room number 36. Top of the building up a few flights of stairs but fantastic views of Lake Windermere from the room.
We managed to park in the car park but I would advise getting to the hotel early to ensure you get a space as the car park isn’t very big. Room was excellent, very clean, fantastic shower and had a comfy bed.
We dined at the Inn in the evening, and although very expensive, the food was lovely and we received great customer service from all staff. Breakfast was also lovely, with both buffet and cooked options, we both had a full English and it was lovely. We had a 5 month old baby with us and the restaurant provided a high chair etc however we did have to bring our own travel cot, I did ring to check this before we travelled.
The location is fantastic, central to the World of Beatrix Potter, Lake Windermere and all the local shops etc.
Would definitely stay here again, no complaints whatsoever. Thanks to all the staff who made our stay enjoyable.

We spent one night in the Angel as part of a hiking trip. Check in was quick and efficient. There were plenty of staff on duty, and they were, without exception, very friendly and helpful. Our room (no. 11) was very clean, comfortable and well presented. The full English breakfast was hot and tasty. It's worth highlighting that, in the public areas, there was a clear and reassuring emphasis on cleanliness and the adoption of anti-covid measures. The Angel has a well stocked bar and comfortable sitting areas, and an attractive tiered front garden with numerous tables. The hotel is situated in the heart of the town, with easy access to the extensive variety of shops, bars, restaurants and the marina area. Highly recommended.
