Stayed at dene house for a weekend in March.
We were in room 5 on the top floor.
Room had iron, ironing board, tea/coffee facilities, tv, en-suite shower, wardrobe and plenty of draw space. Bonus was a hairdryer in the draw.
Bed comfy, room temperature was good, enough space for 2 people
Breakfast was a buffet choice of cereal, fruit and juices plus a full breakfast which was cooked to your liking, which was brought to your table.
Added bonus was the parking.
2 minutes Walking distance to the nearest pubs and restaurants
10 mins walk to marina for any boat trips.

This is a lovely guesthouse in a great location. Our room was spacious and clean with en suite facilities, and the super king bed was very comfortable. The hosts couldn’t have been nicer. We both enjoyed the fantastic full English breakfast too, with quality ingredients and perfectly cooked poached eggs. Really pleasant stay!

We booked Dean House our first anniversary weekend away based on fabulous reviews and we were certainly not disappointed. Dean house is hosted by a lovely couple who were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They emailed us ahead of our weekend away and offered a free day to the local spa, compliments of them for our anniversary, which was a lovely touch and thoroughly enjoyed. The guest house is within short walking distance of the centre of Bowness, close to the lake, shops and restaurants. It is a large imposing guest house and the rooms are big and luxurious with high ceilings and a huge comfortable bed. The room was well equipped with a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities, a big wardrobe and dressing table, the bathroom was modern with a hot shower. Breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of food on offer. Despite being close to the centre, Dene House is pretty, scenic and quiet. We had a lovely time and we would not hesitate in booking again in the future.

After reading the previous reviews we expected Dene House to live up to these high standards and were sadly disappointed.
The house is lovely, great location, on site parking, clean, quiet, decent cooked breakfast.
During our two night stay the temperature was below freezing for the entire duration and the room did not have available heat apart from during certain times of the day and even then the room information book was wrong. Heating should have come on at 6.30 a.m. but didn't come on till 8.30 a.m. and then took a good half hour to get anything like hot, by this time we were leaving our room as we had been told our breakfast was at 9 a.m. Neither of us have ever stayed in a B & B, Hotel, Guest house where heating wasn't available at the touch of a switch. We stayed in bed as long as we dared before quickly getting up and dressed for breakfast as the room was extremely cold due to a heavy frost on both nights.
The advertised homemade granola was never available at breakfast nor could we find the extra milk which, according to the book was available to help ourselves to in the dining room if we ran out of milk in our room, which we did as we only had six of those tiny little thimbles of milk in our room fridge.
The plug in the bathroom wasn't water tight and so we had to wash quickly as the water was going down the drain whilst washing and there was no need to take the plug out on completion as it had already all gone! Air freshener in the bathroom didn't work. One tiny bottle (25ml) of shampoo and the same for body wash in the bathroom which weren't replaced on use, bin not emptied, bed not made. I know these things were omitted during Covid but we have stayed in several hotels recently and everything elsewhere seems back to normal, with normal daily room service.

Our recent stay at Dene House was most enjoyable. We arrived a couple of hours before check-in but went in to ask the host if it was ok to park the car. We were invited to check in immediately. A house key and room key allow people to come and go as they please.

The family run establishment is kept to a very high standard. Many old features of the house have been maintained to preserve its character, yet the modern touches blend perfectly.

We had the king room which was spacious, clean and comfortable. Usual amenities of private bathroom with toiletries, tea/coffee, hairdryer were supplemented with iron and ironing board, small fridge and wine glasses.

Breakfast was pre-order and at a set time for each room. This might not suit everyone but I’m sure the hosts would have accommodated any reasonable request. It suited us just fine on this occasion. The dining room is well organised with room numbers as your table guide. There’s a good choice of fruit and cereal to self select and the cooked choices were well presented, served hot on hot plates (always a plus in my books!) by the hosts. Individual choices were perfectly presented.

It is easy to see why this lovely place has a top rating by its visitors. Thank you Hai and Lan, we would definitely visit again.

Absolutely first class. Immaculate throughout, lovely breakfast and really nice family staff. Happy to highly recommend. Having visited The Lake District numerous times this is by far the nicest guest house we have ever stayed in. Added bonus of being close to town and with private parking it meant could leave car behind.

Stayed at Dene House for two nights whilst visiting the Lake district. Wonderful hosts. Beautiful double room with all you could ask for. Breakfast was lovely- had a full English the first morning, and boiled eggs and toast the next- cannot fault the service and the breakfasts on both mornings were delicious. Dene House is situated within a short distance from Windermere, easily walkable and close to shops, restaurants and pubs. Will definitely visit again!

Property situated within 5 min walk of the centre of Bowness so very quiet with the added bonus of onsite parking. Room was very light & airy with a very comfortable bed. Very nice breakfast each morning with plenty of choice. Owners were very covid safe and were always available for any assistance or just a quick chat. Would highly recommend.

My husband and I have just returned from a 4 day break for our wedding anniversary.

We stayed here at this fabulous place 4 years ago.

Wonderful hosts they will go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable.

The room again was spotlessly clean, comfy bed and quiet location away from the hustle and bustle.

Fridge in room to chill wine/beers which was great when we got back late afternoon after a long day going places.

Short walk to centre.

Yorkshire Dales not far away to visit beautiful countryside.

The Riva Cafe Italian is fabulous food.

The Ship Inn for a light lunch or meal, also boaters for a drink and great live music on the weekends.

So much to see and do.

We will be back soon Hai & Lan again for sure.

Thank you both so much, once again for a fabulous stay.

Lou & John 🙂
