We have just stayed here and what a lovely place, the manager a lovely South African Lady was very accommodating and helped us with anything we needed. They wore masks all the time and there was sanitiser as you came through the door.Breakfast was fantastic, we were full till tea time after having it. We stayed in room 1 with was ground floor at front, twin that can also be a king size. There was plenty of coffee /tea and milk. Biscuits and water were also a nice touch and lovely shower gel. Bar was an added bonus with a nice lounge to sit in. Great location so you can walk to Bowness in 10 to 15 mins and Windermere in 5mins. Car parking on site. We will Definitely be back thank you for making our stay so pleasant in these hard times.
Looking at the negative reviews I guess owners/staff have changed hand. Hotel was tidy and linen fresh and clean. Yes place has creaky boards on some places and noticed a few cobwebs and other bits of wear and tear but given that the owners have had little revenue and help they have been lucky to stay at the service level they have been given. A handyman can sort out the finishing touches easily in lockdown and stick a few screws in boards to keep please the noise police. Only bad points were other guests not wearing masks or distancing ie sit at table 1m away when others to chose from cause they are probably lazy and stupid. Breakfast was highlight, best I've had in years ourside my own house. Full English 2 bacon, sausage, eggs many ways, beans, mushrooms, hash brown, black pudding. It doesn't stop there because pancakes on menu and also you can have cereal before your full English. You have toast and juice and fruit tea coffee and can get more fill ups if you just ask. I couldn't move one morning after breaky and didn't feel hungry till evening. £70 a night for 2 with breakfast that you could sell for £15 each person at least and nice staff and clean place.. BARGIN !!! Only thing I say let guests have evening take outs in dining room if they buy a bottle of wine or some beers from yourselves. …
We have just spent the weekend at the Woodlands. What wonderful staff, the lady serving at breakfast could not do enough for us. The room was beautiful and everything very clean. The only downside was as it is on a main road there was a lot of car noise, even through the night. I would definitely stay again.
Nice room at the top of the house. Quaint, under the eves. Dormer windows. Everything you need. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Always wore face coverings. Nice comfortable lounge with piano (but I didn't do my piano practice!) Good location, 10 mins walk down from Windermere station, approx 20 minutes from Bowness/Lake Windermere. Lovely stay, would definitely come again.
My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights whilst walking in the Lakes. Woodlands has a great location for walking into Windermere for an evening meal or to the Lake for a morning walk before breakfast. Breakfast was delicious!! Great service in a lovely little dining area. There’s a gorgeous little bar and lounge area for an evening tipple. Our twin room was nicely decorated, clean and had everything we needed. The Hungarian host was brilliant. Friendly, funny and informative! We stayed here to walk up the marvellous Helvellyn...only a short, beautiful drive to the start of the walk at Glenridding. We took a very short drive to Ambleside on our second day there which was glorious too. We would definitely recommend Woodlands for the location, service and price. Thanks!!
