This is not a hotel - this is a pub with rooms above. The service was terrible with a reception desk which was never manned. There was loud music and shouting coming from the pub downstairs well into the night. Avoid this 'hotel' at all costs - there is a Travelodge only 5 minutes away which was showing as half...

I was very skeptical about staying at the Ambrose given the reviews I had seen here from previous guests but was booked through work so had to give it a go. As others have noted, yes, this is a pub with rooms and as a woman travelling alone I wouldn't have chosen this. However, I was most pleasantly surprised. I...

Stayed here in September for a few days whilst in the area for family business. The room we were given was amazing, for the four of us we had a really big and spacious room, fresh tea and coffee facilities replenished daily and more on request. The only down side to the room is that for a family of four...

Ok, remember it's a pub! Rooms are clean & spacious. Staff are very helpful, food was fantastic. Was working with 3 colleagues in Barrow for three weeks but this placed was fully booked for week 2 & 3 according to Booking.com so we would have been somewhere else. One word with the manager and she juggled her bookings around and...

Rooms have a modern yet warm/cozy feel -- sort of zen like. Extremely comfortable bed, with several different types of pillows that let you find the one that's just right. Complimentary car service within 3 miles of the hotel. Very responsive front desk staff and drivers. Nice CO Bigelow toiletries. Shower was great--water pressure excellent when using the handheld shower...
