we came here for a weekend break and really enjoyed ourselves.

Given the current situation we was a little nervous about coming but I phoned prior to our stay and spoke to a lady called becky she really did reassure me that everything was okay and they had raised there standards to be even higher than what they were before she was right.

When we arrived we spoke with a blonde slightly older lady who explained everything to us which was fantastic.

In the morning we were able to get fresh towels and more tea and coffee from another lady the manager I believe nothing seemed to much to ask these ladies.

The only down side was the room could do with a bigger bin but we were able to take our rubbish to reception which we did so it wasn't a massive problem.

This travelodge has to be one of the best we've stayed in the 3 ladies i dealt with were amazing and im sure the rest of the team are aswell. This place is a real credit to there manager and especially in these difficult times they all made us feel safe and welcome. We were made to feel comfortable and safe and able to ask any questions about anything.

If you ask the ladies nicely aswell they can point you in the direction of fremington Quay they do a lovely cream tea which was all takeaway.

We look forward to staying again.

The lady at the reception who checked us in was most welcoming, polite and very approachable. The room was well disinfected. We stayed during the COVID 19 pandemic. We felt safe and she also explained to us how the rooms are disinfected after each guest has left and the methods Travelodge is using to ensure safety of the guests. I shall definitely go again.

This was our second stay at Travelodge Barnstaple, following a stay in 2018.

The room was very clean, spacious and everything was in working order.

Due to the current restrictions, there were some changes as expected, but these were well communicated by the email sent out before our stay and the reception team also reiterated this.

The reception team were very friendly and happy to help when replenishing supplies.

Considering where the hotel is based, it is surprisingly quiet with regards to the traffic. In fact, more noise is generated by the internal doors.

Can't have any complaints about our stay - though the car park was constantly rammed with all of the cars using the drive through at KFC (which is still drive-thru only).

Making some sort of change to this and having provisions for rooms to empty their bins more often might be useful.

Also, having four chairs in the family room (instead of two) might be better for a family room (even if they are smaller than the usual chairs) - just a suggestion for improvement!

Overall; this hotel offers comfort, is well located for your adventures in North Devon (and Cornwall).

Had a great stay and would both recommend and stay again.

Okay so I’ve only stayed in travelodges for one night previously in various locations. This trip required 2 nights so after adding on WiFi it was £255 not cheap and for this I expect my room to be cleaned each day which it isn’t. Mugs for the tea and coffee and no glasses for water. In hindsight a couple of nights in a hotel with breakfast and free WiFi wouldn’t have cost a lot more and would probably have been much better value. Lesson learned. The staff were friendly though and it was clean on arrival so credit where it’s due. Why isn’t WiFi included when it is so readily available in most public places now?

checked in late friday afternoon with my family, we wanted to beat the bank holiday traffic as we coming down for camping for the week. we got a little confused about finding the actual lodge as we didn't realise it was behind the service station. However once we has arrived there was plenty of parking and all free, the lady on reception was pleasant and very informative she pointed us to a very nice restaurant so we could eat a family meal in comfort, the rooms were clean and comfy perfect location as close to all the main beaches. we spoke with Becky on the Friday and Karen both were friendly and incredibly helpful. Only downside there isn't an on site restaurant but there isn't space for one still one of the better lodges we've ever stayed in.

We booked 3 nights at this Travelodge as a base for touring round North Devon area. It was clean, and comfortable and all options were covered with the current Covid situation - so no room cleaning, which was fine. If you ran out of anything like tea or coffee or needed more towels, you just asked at Reception and they sorted this out for you. The only one negative, and this is nothing to do with Travelodge itself, is that there isn't anywhere to have a meal there like a Chef and Brewer, Harvester etc.

This Travelodge in Barnstaple is well situated near the town centre, near Sainsburys and a good Costa. Room large and clean, bed great, good desk space to work on. Bathroom everything it should be, staff caring and concerned and polite.

We found the staff very helpful here and one printed and marked a map for us when we wanted to find several places in the town.
Beds were very comfy and found the signs to hang on the door very useful if you wanted to sleep on in the morning and another to say when you wanted your room tidied. We were out all day so didn't need our room tidied or towell's changed so we didn't hang it outside. A good economical idea.

The Barnstaple Travelodge is well located being adjacent to the Barnstaple to Bideford highway, the A39. Reception area clean, well lit and efficiently run. Check in quick. The room large, comfortable and all that I ask in a stay away from home night. The bed was large and comfortable, the linen everything it should be - clean and fresh. Bathroom all that one needs, the lighting not too bright and in your face.

I had come in from the worst driving experience imaginable, when the Travelodge receptionist, Donna, not only sympathised with my experience, but did everything she could to help me out.

She gave me specific directions on where to find my room in a seeming maze, and even offered to take me there; she told me where the nearest servicing garage for car repairs were; she was open and honest when she didn't know something, and she referred to people who were more knowledgable in other areas.

When I was trying to work out where to put my bike for safety, she offered the back of the Travelodge, and even granted me an exception given circumstances to keep it in my room, and, even thinking ahead, she even wrote a note to the manager on shift next day to notify them I had been allowed to bring my bike into the room whilst I sorted out issues.

She'd hold good conversations with other guests as well, and inbetween - when there were no other Travelodge guests to serve - we'd have a good talk about the situation I was dealing with. Donna remarked how she loved her job, and I can see that.

I often find Travelodge staff members to be pleasant and personable, and Travelodge granting them this discretion and flexibility are doing something right.

It is very easy to get caught up in material comparisons between hotels. Whilst Travelodge rooms are classically quite spartan in appearance, the simplicity can be preferable to the more ornately gaudy hotels; indeed, a more upend hotel would have been horrified of the thought of a customer's bicycle daring to touch their carpet, as if you were some optional unweclome guest at someone else's house.

It is the staff members like Donna at Barnstaple Travelodge, that take Travelodge from being a simple 'budget hotel', to one that leaves a positive experience that outclasses even the more expensive and aloof hotels.

Hi There, Yes we do allow dogs in our hotels for a current fee of £20 per pet, per stay. if booking online there will be a box to check when intending to bring a pet. If booking over the phone then yes mentioning your pet would be best. If the booking has already been made then phoning ahead to the hotel would be best. I hope this has answered your question. Sincerely Barnstaple Travelodge

There is no secure cycle sheds but guests can put them in their room. The nearest pub is about a 10 min walk from the hotel.
