I was in Durham on September 16th to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the founding of Bede College. When we first went up to Durham in 1966, Bede was a male only Teacher Training College and a gang of us became P.E. Teachers after our training finished in 1969. The guest rooms in the St Hild's building are at least 150 years old, and have been tastefully improved and renovated whilst retaining their character. The rooms have an en-suite toilet, washbasin and shower, a desk and a comfortable bed, tea making facilities etc. Meals are taken in the College dining room; I enjoyed a first class cooked breakfast, with...

Returning to Durham on business exactly 40 years after I graduated, I booked a night's accommodation in the College, St Hild's building. The accommodation was quite spartan but completely acceptable. I enjoyed a College breakfast in the restaurant, and the the whole ambiance of the College was pleasant and relaxing. Access from the A1(M) is very straightforward, and the walk...

On the 50th Anniversary of first getting to know each other at Bede College in Durham, 5 old friends and spouses stayed here. It was great for nostalgia but pretty basic. The 3 days we spent together brought back many great memories.

I stayed here for one night while on interview with the University. The upside: The room itself was ensuite and relatively large for what I was expecting, with two single beds and a reasonably large bathroom given what counts as an en suite in most dorms that I've seen. The place was clean and well-maintained, and the staff were helpful....
