We have thoroughly loved our stay here. Just a little breakaway and feel really refreshed. Beautiful surroundings. Lovely, friendly staff. Great nights sleep in comfortable room with fantastic rainfall type shower. So much history with leaflets to read up about the castle. The staff wear costumes and it's a total change from a standard hotel break. Unusual location for a...

we had a 2 night stay here and thoroughly enjoyed our time. The 1st room we had was quite small with an amazing bathroom being bigger than the bedroom itself ! we asked if we could have a different room but the reception were unable to move us for that evening but moved us for the 2nd night.(larger bedroom with a...

Wow, it was a hike to Room #52, but worth it when we got there. Beautiful views of the grounds and a very well decorated if a little tired large room and bath. Comfortable bed and adequate heat. The complimentary robes were soft and warm. The only thing that this room would greatly benefit from is a mini-bar. We brought...

Stayed here for one night not a bad stay but not a great one . Arrived to a picturesque building must admit great first impression. Nice reception staff. We waited a few moments while the porter came he was a churpy character who i tipped for carrying our bags up 3 flights of stairs to the top floor. Our room...

This place is huge and there are of course no lifts so make sure you pack lightly! Our room was probably the furthest away from the reception possible but worth the hike once we were there. Gorgeous four poster bed, nice size bath/shower out in the main room but with a curtain should you want privacy, writing desk, seating area...

Stayed one night. Lovely huge comfortable emperor bed. Lovely surroundings. Most of the staff on hand were knowledgable and helpful except when we asked to check out 30mins later & were told we'd be charged £25 for the privilege (so we declined) Restaurant food and service was superb. Lovely steaks! Highly recommended. Overall and good stay

The hotel is fairytale from the outside but rather a hotchpotch inside: beautiful tapestry curtains hang alongside fake flowers and some dodgy neon lighting, as well as some rather nasty cheap 'art'. On the plus side, the staff are delightful and the beds comfortable. On the downside, the bathrooms are reminincesent of a Premier Inn (without the budget price tag...

Lovely place, full of character, great ambience. Artwork, antiques, statues etc created a lovely old-world feel.Very friendly and accommodating staff.Bed comfortable and the bedroom was warm (although the bathroom was a tad chilly).Good choice for breakfast, which was served in the Black Knight restaurant, again it was very atmospheric with subtle lighting and decadent decor, we would definitely come back.Access and...

We visited Lumley Castle for New Years Eve as a party of 7 to see in 2017. The food in a medieval style was surprising very good with copious amounts of mead and slightly rough red wine. The in house entertainment was excellent and very enjoyable. Worth a visit
