Our visit was successful and the Marriott offers comfort and, in the case of this hotel, very friendly staff but it is let down in several ways. The first is, at the moment, considerable building work is going on in the driveway and carpark. The entrance indicated by the sat nav was closed off and, in rush hour, after a... More

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay and sharing your comments. We do agree our hosts are very warm and welcoming. However we are intrigued as to your comments regarding the building works and car park as currently there are no works taking place. Please do contact our Executive Office and we can discuss this further... More

I recently stayed here with my Mum on a short break and it was fantastic. We had a deluxe double room which was really comfortable. The beds and pillows were great, and the heating system in the room was very good. The staff were very friendly, apart from a few staff at breakfast on one of the mornings, which was... More

Chain hotel but one of the best located very close to the old town. Not the place with English charm, but very convenient. The swimming pool is not to be missed. The breakfast at £10.50 is good value for money but rather "average" for a Marriott. You can get better bargains in town if you do not want to eat... More

My wife and I stopped for one night for our anniversary, we wanted space to stay that is close enough to the centre of Durham, the hotel it's self is great the only problem I would say it has is parking , but I guess this is the case everywhere in the city , definitely worth booking if you want... A one-night stay at the County while visiting our son at the University. We arrived quite late on Friday evening and check-in was smooth and efficient. The standard room was on the small side but comfortable enough, even if the furniture was rather dated and heavy. Plenty of hot water in the "in bath" shower. Breakfast was, sadly, "buffet-style" and... More

Thought we would have a coffe after breakfast but found there was nowhere to get one except Starbucks which is packed full with students some without drinks. Those with drinks are drinking very slowly. Overhead staff telling someone that there is a problem with students sitting in all public areas and not buying anything. There are even signs saying seating... More

Lovely hotel with such friendly staff making you feel so welcomed. A special thanks to Stewart at the front desk for being so helpful in making me choose a lovely in room dining meal and Ellen at breakfast with whom I had a riveting conversation. Comfortable rooms and bed. Would stay here again.

This hotel is in the centre of Durham right next to all the shops and not far from Durham Castle. It has a small car park to the rear. The staff were very welcoming and we even got upgraded to a larger room on arrival. Our room had its own thermostat so we could control the temperature, iron, ironing board,... More

The hotel is close to the city centre and a short walk from all amenities and shops. Parking is adjacent but limited. The staff are, without exception, incredibly friendly and helpful.
