Don't stay at this hotel it's very noisey and there was no breakfast for the 2 days we were there and our room wasn't serviced. When we wanted to check out there were no staff about and the bar was locked up so had to go back later in the day which was very inconveniet and ruined our day.

Visited with friends after work for some drinks and food. Drinks were not badly priced and a nice atmosphere. Food was ok but overpriced for what I got. £6.50 for a small portion of nachos is a bit steep. Good location. I can't comment on accommodation I just visited the bar.

We wanted to stay overnight in Durham but picked their busiest night of the year & only got this room due to a late cancellation. After reading a real mix of very good or terrible reviews I was worried about what we might find. So to try to set the record straight it may depend on what guests are expecting...

Stayed here a couple of weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised with the friendly staff, clean and refurbished room and location. Perfect for visiting Durham or a night out. Wasn't expecting much from a room above a pub but everything was spot on. Would reckoned and stay again

The City in Durham is a small hotel linked to a Mexican bar. The hotel is located close to the Old Town. The location is excellent; The hotel is cheap. The room was small but correctly equipped. If you look to the ratio quality / price, it is really good. The place is noisy, so prefer the rooms at the...

Saw mixed reviews and were pleasantly greeted on arrival so were quite happy to begin. Noticed a leak in the bathroom (which was damp and badly ventilated) and decided to notify staff when we went for breakfast. UNfortunately when we got up in the morning the place was deserted!! Bar was locked (so no breakfast) but corridors and doors to...

We stayed in this hotel for two nights in June and had a lovely stay, although would recommend a room at the back of the hotel, if your after a quiet night as it is on a busy road and on the main walkway for university students on route to the city centre. Rooms are lovely and the staff are...

The rooms are above the pub so you can expect noise until the pub closes around midnight. Also the plumbing system is incredibly noisy (Saniflow) as there seems to be a big shredder under the toilet. Fine when you do it but annoying when your neighbour does. Service at breakfast is patchy. The poor woman can only do one table...
