Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went to catch up with family. The meal took over 1 & 1/2 hours to be served. We couldn't find any staff to reorder drinks. It was very understaffed. The meals were mostly overlooked & dry. It's a shame as the menu promised more & we were looking forward to it.

Hotel is in a goodl location with free parking . The Staff were friendly and helpful.. The room was small but had everything we needed . The bed was clean and confortable. It is a 20 minute walk into Durham with pleanty of bars resstaurants and cafes. We visited Crook Hall Gardens (national trust) and the Cathedral. There are walks along the river and plenty of shops to browse.

A one night stay to enable a tour of the cathedral and a look at the city. The venue was ideally situated and provided us with exactly what we needed. Parking was a bonus, food was good and we would use Kingslodge again.

Perfect for a break in Durham. Only 10 mins walk from the centre, immaculate accommodation, comfortable beds, attentive staff, lovely relaxed bar area, & fantastic breakfasts/evening meals. Can't fault it in any way, and would definitely stay again.

Took over an hour to get breakfast on both days of our stay. No cups for tea or coffee. No bread for toast. No milk. No juice. No bowls for cereal. Got a voucher for 2 free drinks for not having our room cleaned. Voucher was declined because we didn’t use it on our first day of our stay which we definitely wasn’t told about.

We have used Inn Collection group hotels several times. Whilst we were delighted with a couple of them, more recently we have found them to be disappointing. The Kingslodge hotel looked promising, but cleanliness was a real issue, with noticeable dust in the room, tea and coffee facilities poorly stocked and obviously uncleaned. Common areas were shabby and tired with tears in the carpet and bar upholstery. The location is just outside the main city centre which you would expect to be attractive, but the restaurant and bar are clearly not a destination for non-residents, leading to a fairly dead atmosphere. Staff were pleasant enough.

My stay at the kings Lodge inn was absolutely perfect from start to finish. I was by myself for the weekend with plenty to do. All my needs were cated for. Nothing was too much for anyone. Everyone was Soo warm and welcoming. The rooms were absolutely Devine. Location was spot on just up from bus station and yet calm and peaceful. Delicious food and drinks too. Even the guests were lovely and loads of dogs were Soo cute. Dog friendly was an added bonus .

Great place to stay while having a short break in Durham. Free parking is a plus as is the short walk to the cathedral etc.. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The check in very smooth. The rooms are a little dark but clean and functional. We had 2 meals in the evenings,Mondays wasn't great(pie was luke warm as was the mash) but Wednesdays was good(burger and chips) Good selection of beers/wines. Breakfasts are excellent, with loads of choice! The voucher system is a great idea, free drinks instead of a room service. Make sure the voucher is filled in correctly though! Large comfy inn with a nice feel. Quieter away from the bar music if you sit nearer the top of the room. It is very dog friendly, sadly we lost our dog a month ago but great for dog owners. The woods at the back has a walk. One last thing, the railway viaduct is fairly close and trains run early and fairly late, and you can hear them. Overall a great place to stay.

Looking for an excellent dog-friendly stay in Durham, look no further. We were delighted to find this super location backing onto the vale of Flass, which offers super little walks. An easy walk into the centre of Durham with all the bailey has to offer. We will definitely be back.

Great location for a stay in Durham as it is walking distance to city centre but in a very quiet area with easy parking. The staff are friendly, the food at dinner and breakfast was great. Would highly recommend.
