Was here for a family wedding on 12th April. Great wedding venue and food that was served was amazing. Nicely priced. Accommodation, however something to be desired. Looking at the photos they look amazing, however, I must have been put in to steerage on the Titanic along with a lot more of the guests. Doors badly fitted had that much paint on them, that if they were to be stripped it would peeled like wall paper. Rooms full of tat that you had to squeeze by to get to the bed. Shower room looked absolutely amazing, however, when using it, you had to do a marathon to get wet! In the end I gave up as the quality of the shower was not up to standard. This was room 28, speaking to others they had the same issue in their rooms on the 2nd floor. Reported to receptionist who said that they would report to General Manager who would get back to me in relation to my complaint. Over a week later and I am still waiting. Really shows the emphasis they are putting on customer satisfaction here. Would go back for a meal but would stay at another hotel for a room as they are more like a Blackpool boarding house.…
Myself and my new husband celebrated our wedding day at bowburn recently... The entire day from start to finish was absolutely fantastic, we couldn't fault a single thing. The staff were friendly, professional, chatty and so helpful. All of our family and friends commented on how lovely the venue was and how well it all went. We have even had friends ask us details for their upcoming wedding plans. Would absolutely recommend bowburn to anyone! We would just like to say a massive thanks you to everyone involved that helped throughout the day... With a special thanks to Tom who was fantastic all throughout the day, nothing was too much, he kept everything so organised and was the most friendly person. Again a massive thank you to everyone! We couldn't have wished for a better day 💕…
The hotel is what you expect from a 3* hotel and the rooms are quite dated and we struggled in the on suite ....However the wedding was in a superb setting outside (curtesy of the weather)....The staff at this Hotel are Excellent, we could not fault them. My wife who is Gluten intolerant was looked after brilliantly, including during the wedding meal and at other mealtimes too.....The Hotel may be 3* but I would give the staff 5* and more (Thank You). The only downside, if there is one is the size of the on suite bathroom its fine if your not claustrophobic, But there's not much they can do about that.
So disappointing. The location is on the middle of a housing estate! Went for celebratory meal with my family for my sons PhD graduation. 3 out of 4 starters were lovely, the scallops. I had pate, a very basic looking dish. Mains went downhill quickly, fish so well done the fish itself was dry and difficult to get off the burnt batter. Scampi so well done it was hard to get your fork into them. Belly pork was ok but the mash has a crispy skin from the microwave and the duck sizzler was okay. Told we had to get our drinks as they had no staff only to walk past 3 of them chatting and doing nothing. Never offered a dessert or coffee, service was rough with the waiter reaching in front of us rather than walking round. All basic stuff you would expect. Very lacking and disappointing. Think twice before you book !!…
Awful place. Expected Kathy Bates. Tiny room, at least 30 year old decor. Nothing like pictures online. Stinks of men’s loos as you walk in. It’s in the middle of a housing estate. Why on Earth anyone would enjoy a stay here I don’t know. Depressing.
