Having parked on this road for years when visiting Durham, I have missed an absolute hidden gem. The beer, gin, staff, room, fabulous. We felt so welcome by staff and locals. Will absolutely return when we find a reason. Great city too.

Stayed here early November in this authentic Victorian pub , The authenticity was evident in the bar decor, pictures , furniture , open coal fires and really local vibe. More 21s t century was the central heating in our room, great bathroom and shower and a good telly..freeview etc. Breakfast is superb , loads of choice ,great selection of preserves and...

I have to admit to being a little unsure as we entered the bar area on arrival but we were warmly and efficiently welcomed and shown up to our room (lots of stairs so you need to be prepared to climb!). The room was delightful - clean, comfortable and well furnished. The breakfast was excellent - a lovely lady was...

From the moment we walked into The Victoria Inn till the moment we left we felt we were not paying guests but friends. Couldn't have been treated better(and the ale was great as well). No tv in pub, no games, no music, just good people and good talk. Room very comfortable. Location perfect (about a 6 minute walk to Cathedral,...

Our only mistake was not staying here longer as we only had a one-night stop-over in Durham. This would have been a great place to base ourselves. It is so perfectly located with everything within a gentle stroll away. Durham Cathedral is just over the footbridge next to the university student union building. Durham is so beautiful and compact, the...

Stayed one night Sep16 - Room was lovely - 4 poster, ensuite and had a great nights sleep. Breakfast was spot on - full works set us up for the day. What really makes the Victoria stand out is the people - both the staff, who could not have been more helpful, and the locals who had me and Tina...

Stayed at The Victoria on a short visit to Durham. Great location just a short walk from the cathedral and city centre. Quirky traditional pub with 3 rooms packed with Victoriana. Bedroom compact but spotless and comfortable with nice touches. All staff very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast.

We stayed three nights, comfortable quiet and a splendid breakfast cooked by a redoubtable lady. Had to wedge my car in to a minute garage the first nught but then the luxury of a double for the last two! I would happily book again

We chose to stay in the Victoria Inn for a one night stopover because we are real ale fans but we were pleasantly surprised by the high standard of the bedroom which certainly matched the quality of the beer on tap. We really enjoyed our stay - we were well looked after, slept well had a lovely substantial breakfast. Well...
