Traditional pub with central bar and lounge rooms around this bar. Period features are all maintained. Open fire was roaring.
Good choice of cask beers available at reasonable prices. A short walk from the city centre.

Full of character, good beer, friendly (mildly eccentric) locals. Cosy coal fire.
If you like traditional pubs there is nothing not to like. Don't come here looking for fancy gin or fashionable cocktails. They do pickled eggs though.

This is a superb pub. There is a well presented bar area and cosy back rooms crammed with Victorian memorabilia. The place is clean and has a good selection of real ales, the selection of wine is somewhat lacking though.

I found the room very quiet. There is an old fashioned pub at the entrance but despite it being relatively busy there was no noise. We were in a room with a four poster bed also and we were made very welcome. Would go back.
