Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Blue Waters Lodge is one of the best b and bs that we have ever stayed in. The hosts, Iain and Julia, are so friendly and helpful and can’t do enough to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Every room is spotless and the decorated lovely. Our bedroom had everything we needed and more. The rooms are refreshed everyday. The room was a good size with plenty of storage, the bathroom was a good size too and included soap, shower gel and hair shampoo, face wipes and earbuds. At breakfast we had a choice of full English, fruit, yoghurt, cereals and French pastries. All of which was cooked to perfection. Nothing is too much bother for Iain and Julia, they gave us tips on where to visit, where to eat and we’re always around if you needed help. It was like staying with friends. We will definitely being returning. All I can say is that if you are thinking of staying in Paignton, stay at the Blue Waters Lodge.

I stayed here with my 9 year old son. Julia and Iain made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. They recommended trips for us to go on and tips to make our stay one of the best we have had. We were literally 2-3 minutes walk from the beach and couldn’t ask for a better location! Our room was perfect, quiet, impeccably clean and full of little touches that really show how much Julia and Iain care that your stay is as comfortable as possible. We had breakfast included which was very tasty!!! So much choice and lovely atmosphere in the dining room. Thank you so much for a wonderful few days. We will definitely be back!

Me and my husband, did a 3 night stay at Blue Water Lodge for our 20th wedding anniversary. I can honestly say this is the best service we have ever received from anywhere we have been. Julia and Iain were the most warm welcoming hosts we could have asked for, everything was so professional but super friendly. They made you feel like you'd know them years, so easy to approach. They went above and beyond. Breakfast was always fresh and tasty, the room was spacious and clean and the whole stay was 10 out of 10.

Just come home from a 2 night/3 day trip to Paignton, I’ve been coming here with family for years and Blue Waters Lodge is the best hotel I’ve stayed in so far. Breakfast every morning was perfect, with coffee, tea and juice selections as well as fruit salad, cereal and more. The rooms were clean, beautifully decorated and homely details made our stay comfortable and personal. The owners went out of their way to provide me with oat milk after discovering I was lactose intolerant, and left me a bottle in my room fridge so I could enjoy complementary tea/coffee/hot chocolate. If you’re looking for a personal, home-from-home like stay, then I would highly recommend Blue Waters Lodge.

Almost on the sea front. A very friendly welcome and drink after 5 and half hours on M5. Settled in quickly and advised where to eat then a quite walk on the sea front. Fantastic start to the holiday with great breakfasts and discussed daily plans and had welcome advise to enhance the day. At the end of the day a great drink and chat then back to a comfortable bed.

The most comfortable stay I’ve ever had at a Bed and breakfast. The extra touches in the rooms are excellent. A very friendly welcome from the host Julia and Iain who nothing was to much trouble for. The breakfast was excellent cooked to perfection and a very good choice of items you don’t usually get at bed and breakfasts. I would highly recommend this lovely place.
