Kirstie and Charlotte were really accommodating. Even with Covid-19 our beds were made everyday, hot chocolates were re stocked and towels changed from the bathroom. The room was really lovely, the bed was big and there was plenty of storage to put your clothes away. I really liked the stool under the dresser, the lid even came off if you wanted to put stuff in there :) There was a fridge on the first floor. My son has allergies so we had special yogurts and milk that needed a fridge, so I was delighted that there was somewhere we could easily access to keep them fresh for the 5 day stay.

The location is easy and convenient with children, by the pier and the beach and there were plenty of restaurants. the high street isn't too far away and there is a little park the opposite way to the beach.

I liked the little quirky parts of the hotel, e.g in the dining room there is a little mouse hole sticker on the skirting board! When we left, we were even given some complimentary clotted cream fudge that Charlotte had made, which we really enjoyed!

Definitely will be staying here again!

Everything was perfect from the minute we arrived at the Barclay Guest House. Kirsti was there to greet us and went through all the covid safety regulations which were very thorough and instantly felt safe and secure. The room was spacious, very well maintained and decorated, and extremely clean. Kirsti had added some nice touches such as a welcome message on a small chalkboard in the bedroom. All toiletries were supplied and clean towels daily if required. The breakfast was fabulous and cooked fresh daily. Nothing was too much trouble for Kirsti and she made sure she had a friendly chat on a daily basis and was informative as to what was going on in the area. The room was cleaned to a very high standard on a daily basis and nothing was too much trouble for Kirsti for all her visitors. We were even given a bag of homemade fudge for our journey home. If we ever stay in the area again we will definately be staying at the Barclay. Thanks Kirsti for a great stay.

*Book Direct with Kirsti for the best experience*

We spent two nights here and absolutely loved it. Kirsti was very welcoming upon arrival, offering us tea and coffee and had also upgraded our room free of charge.
We stayed in Room 7, which is a large gorgeous room with king size bed and a view of the park. The bathroom looks recently refurbished and was brilliantly functional.
There is lots of storage space in the room, as well as USB plug sockets, tea and coffee facilities and TV.
Also a Barclay guest house postcard and stamp also in your room which is such a lovely touch, as well as personalised welcome note and some chocolates.

You are asked to preorder your breakfast (if included with your stay) the night before. The cooked breakfast was delicious with fresh produce as well as a 'Covid compliant' self service section with juice, cereals, toast etc.

The location is superb, being only a few mins walk to the beach, pier, restaurants and pubs. We were also recommended to try a couple of local restaurants which were excellent.

As we were leaving, we were given home made fudge which was to die for.

Thank you for your hospitality Kirsti and we can't wait to come back and hopefully see Paignton in the sunshine.
Ciara & Michael :)

Kirsti and Charlotte were delightfully welcoming from the moment we arrived! The B&B is comfortable and was located in an excellent location with Victoria Car Park within a minutes walk of the B&B (£3/day for a reserved parking bay). Either a cooked breakfast or a choice of lighter options are available with a comfortable and pleasant breakfast room. Our family room was spacious and well furnished (one king size and two singles) with a en-suite shower, toilet and hand basin (if the radiator was moved to the left wall and the sink to where the radiator is currently located, a larger shower could be installed. This was a little too 'cosy' for me personally but perfectly functional). Shampoo, conditioner and liquid body soap are available both in the shower and by the sink.

Kirsti was able to provide a mattress topper to help soften the bed for me (as I have a prolapsed disc), which was very much appreciated! Also, they were happy to provide towels without fabric conditioner for me. Both Kirsti and Charlotte are very friendly and happy to chat with their guests. They are both wonderful hosts, and go out of their way to be helpful!

I would readily recommend a stay at this B&B and, if available, we would be delighted to stay there again in a future trip to Paignton.

we decided to stay at the Barclay Guest House in Paignton after reading good reviews and wasn't disappointed. we stayed for 4 nights in July. We found the owner Kirsty very friendly and extremely helpful with advice or where to visit and places to eat.
The room was very bright and had everything we required including shampoo, shower gel and bottled water.
Breakfast was also very good.

The Guest house was very well situated just a few minutes from the beach and 5 minute walk from the high street and train station.

If you are looking for somewhere to stay while you visit Paignton or
Torquay (which is 4 minutes train ride away) then this guest house is definitely recommended.

Stayed for 7 nights 18/9/21 to 25/9/21 with my two sisters. We were very happy with our choice, lovely spacious, comfortable room, with everything you could possibly need, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits, soap and hand lotion over the basin in the en suite, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner also in the shower, also flannels and air freshener! Cold water was available in a fridge on the landing. Breakfast was always lovely and hot and tasty and pleasantly served by Michael, who always made us laugh. Kirsti made us feel very welcome and would ask if everything was OK. There are some lovely personal touches to welcome you, and a gift on leaving. The location is very near the train and bus station, also ferry service available to Brixham and Torquay. We had a very enjoyable week here and would certainly recommend.

The Barclay Guest House is possibly the best we have stayed in, from the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. The Guest house is welcoming, very clean, comfortable & they serve a lovely breakfast which sets you up for the day. The Barclay is in the perfect location, it is in a quiet side street off the promenade & a few minute walk from pubs & restaurants. Kirsti works very hard to make sure her guests enjoy their time at The Barclay, if we visit Paignton again we will definitely return & will also recommend to family & friends. Thank you Kirsti for a lovely stay & thank you Michael for making everyone smile at breakfast!

We stayed two nights with lovely Kirsty, and what a pleasure it was. Firstly, the place is spotless with wonderful little special touches to make you feel special. The breakfast was super, and the location superb but it is the host that makes your trip. I must say as well, the bed was very comfortable with good quality sheets and it showed. Kirsty was full of useful information on where to go and what to do. When we return to Paignton, this is definitely the place we will stay.

If you go be sure to go to The Curious Crab which supports and is run by fisherman, you won’t get fresher.

Stayed for two nights, what a lovely guest house. Kirsti has thought of everything that makes your stay that more comfortable from feeling very safe with plenty of hand sanitizers and instructions of keeping safe to the extra grey flannel for makeup so you don’t have to worry of ruining the lovey white ones ( I usually take makeup wipes ) I loved the personal touch of the little chalk board with a welcome note in your room too.The guest house is lovely and clean and modern furnishings, Breakfast was lovely with cereal, toast, waffles, crumpets, yogurts and potted fruit. The fried breakfast is lovely and poached eggs were perfect. Good coffee too. Very helpful on helping us find something to do as it wasn’t the best weather. I will definitely be going back to stay if we visit Devon again

Welcomed & embraced from start to finish by the wonderful hotelier, Kirsti! I would highly recommend a stay at ‘The Barclay Guest House’. Whether it be for business or pleasure, the highly amenable proprietor will ensure your needs are attended to & that your stay is stress free! The Guest House benefits from very recently refurbished decor & is extremely well presented, with attention to detail & scrupulous cleanliness standards being but a few of the facilities climaxing features. Furthermore, the Torbay area & Paignton in particular offer beautiful, picturesque surroundings all year round! What better way to enjoy your visit to the area than with a stay at his superb establishment? A truly charming & wonderful place to lay your weary head! 5/5!

Paignton, United Kingdom
Hi, There is parking available at the victoria car park at the end of the road or another carpark just around the corner. If you have booked direct then parking is free. If via another site then it is £4 per 24 hours. See you in April :) Kirsti
