The major issue was that we have booked a room for two, but ended up bringing our three year old daughter with us as our babysitting plans have failed. We checked in just after 6pm for one night. The owners saw our daughter at the time of bringing our bags upstairs and during

This review comes as no surprise as we were aggressively threatened with a "bad review" by the husband of the couple who returned to the house after checking out. He obviously believed his bullying tactics would result in the refund he was looking for. This particular couple had booked a kingsize room for two but turned up with a child which they hadn't had the courtesy to inform us beforehand they were intending to bring. There was no explanation for this on arrival and in fact kept her in the car on checking in, only bringing her in later carrying her up the stairs describing her as "only a baby!" We have a very clear "extra person" policy on booking so they would have known there would be an extra charge. It is perplexing why they feel as her parents they are not responsible to pay for her stay? We do provide an extra bed in the room for an extra child/person (if informed this is required of course) and also breakfast is included in the price. We provided breakfasts as ordered and noted the child ate well from the wide variety offered from the continental range. I am unsure as to why they believe they have the right to have this free of charge? Also a cooked breakfast was available to her if they had requested it which they had every opportunity to do but didn't. They also requested breakfast for 8.30am but sauntered down to the dining room at 9.00am .The scrambled egg/smoked salmon breakfast described as "fine" was cooked freshly when they arrived in the dining room,as was the vegetarian breakfast. Only the sausages had been prepared for the time requested ( 8.30am) as otherwise there would be a 30 min wait if started when the guests finally arrived for breakfast (which they would have complained about!) & i tried to keep them as well as i could in the oven. The rest of that breakfast was cooked freshly and was piping hot when it went out & the "inedible breakfast" was all eaten. When asked if everything was ok with the breakfast which we always do, giving the opportunity to the guest to comment if anything was amiss the response was positive. They also went on to have a very leisurely breakfast with no pressure to finish & leave the dining room until they felt ready. With regards to the doorbell it is clearly there on the left hand side of the door with a sensor light if required in the dark & the porch as said is well lit.. We have never had any issues with guests not finding the doorbell in the past. However to get our attention they felt it necessary to bang very loudly on our windows again in what felt like a very aggressive manner which was quite disconcerting, causing me to drop and smash the glass i was holding at the time. During breakfast they told us they had enjoyed their stay and thought "The Beaches" was a lovely place. This attitude changed when they were asked to pay the balance on their bill & thus this negative review which is purely in retaliation. We are proud to say we have just been shortlisted for the Luxury Guide Travel Europe Awards and with all the many other positive reviews we get this gives a true picture of what "The Beaches" is all about. Thankfully for us we have lovely guests who appreciate the amazing value for money that we offer here at "The Beaches" and the service we give and those guests are a joy to host. Guests such as this couple are certainly not welcome and it comes with great relief to hear they don't intend to come again!
