Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely perfect stay at Merritt House. Kim & Steve were excellent hosts and nothing ever seemed too much trouble for them. Breakfast was fab with a good 'freshly prepared' selection which set us up well for the day ahead. Although the room chosen was the small double, the en-suite bathroom was very spacious and had everything we needed. Can't fault this B & B and would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Paignton and the surrounding area.

We had a ground floor room (number 4 at the rear).Lovely view of the steam engines and cricket ground. Room had everything you needed, iron, toiletries, hairdryer, tv, tea, coffee, (choice of decaf )and biscuits replenished daily. Milk and water were also available in the fridge situated in the dining area. Breakfast was outstanding and ample choice available. Andy and Melissa were very welcoming and recommended places to eat and visit. Nothing was too much trouble and much thought has gone into trying to make there guest as comfortable as possible during there stay. I would highly recommend Merritt house and would like to thank Andy and Melissa for there hospitality.

Lovely weekend for the air show. Andy & Melissa are lovely friendly hosts. Our room was spotless and along with tea and coffee they also provide biscuits and chocolates. There is a good selection for breakfast which was delicious.
Would highly recommend. Thank you both very much.

We spent 5 days at this excellent B&B - our hosts (Kim and Steve) were extremely friendly and efficient, and scrupulously followed the necessary measures required during this period of the virus.

The room was clean and spacious, the breakfast were excellent and nothing was too much trouble (we were able to use the dining room for our take-away meals).
Perfect location, close to the sea front, station and shops.

Had a lovely stay at the Merritt House B&B. Steve & Kim were wonderful hosts, nothing was too much trouble and they made me feel very safe and welcome. The B&B was very clean and clear Covid guidelines in place. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and the room was comfortable and well equipped. Location is fantastic, I would definitely return. Thank you

Myself and my husband checked into this b&b on the 17th-20th aug for our anniversary.
We were greeted and were made to feel instantly welcome.
Everywhere looked pristine and our room was beautiful.
The owners were wonderful and very helpful, such lovely people.
The breakfast menu catered for everyone,
Our first morning we had a full English breakfast which was done to perfection, couldn't be faulted.
We are definitely going back again, it felt like a home from home.
Very reasonably priced too.
A special thanks to Steven and Kim for making our stay a memorable one

Best staycation has by all! Steve welcomed us on arrival after being very understanding with our lateness a 3.5 hour journey took 7, he welcomed us in gave us a very informative welcome showed us the map and gave recommendations for walks and things to do. We had R5 the superior king was spotlessly clean and comfy cannot complain one bit. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to visit Paignton, it’s perfectly located. I don’t normally feel relaxed after a holiday in the UK like I do when we go abroad but not at the Merritt House, I feel totally relaxed and refreshed!

We had a fantastic stay here-Andy and Melissa made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The room was a good size and well stocked with pretty much everything you need in the way of toiletries and tea/coffee making facilities. The bed was super comfy and the breakfast was the best we’ve had in a very long time!
Andy and Melissa made us feel as though we were revisiting friends rather than staying with hosts and were always happy to chat and have a laugh. Great B&B, great location but most of all, fabulous couple!

A fantastic Bed and Breakfast based in the heart of Paignton. Steve and Kim were excellent hosts. Clean and tidy rooms with great facilities. Proper cooked English breakfast was piping hot and bloody lovely. Would definitely stay again and would highly recommend to people looking for a weekend getaway or break in Paignton.
