We booked the “Little Lobster” apartment at Sunnybeach Holiday Apartments through Airbnb, but you can also book it direct through their website. The building consists of a number of apartments with a communal entrance and stairway (although we saw or heard very little of any other guests)

There is designated parking directly outside the building and the keys are collected from a lockbox next to the entrance door.

The “Little Lobster” apartment is situated on the first floor above the entrance overlooking the esplanade and seafront.

At the time of our visit in September the whole building and apartment was spotlessly clean and looked to have recently been redecorated.

The apartment consisted of a single room with bed, kitchen and seating area in window bay and a separate bathroom with shower.

It was a bit tight with two suitcases in the room and sometimes took a bit of maneuvering around the room, but this wouldn’t deter a return visit. If we’d actually unpacked everything into the cupboards and wardrobes this probably wouldn’t have been the case.

The location is excellent, situated close to the harbour and all other attractions within Paignton. The noise level at night was minimal, but there was a couple of occasions with “boy racers” on the seafront with loud exhausts.

We have just arrived home after spending a week at Sunnybeach apartments.
We were in Mermaids View (Room 1) a ground floor apartment (although there are about 5 steps up to the front door so maybe not suited for disabled people, although the photos on the site do clearly show the steps) I have some mobility problems but found it wasn’t difficult to go up the steps using the handrail and my walking stick.
The room was spacious and lovely and clean. The bathroom had a large walk in shower, heated towel rail, hand basin, toilet and large wall cabinet, two toilet rolls were provided. The only downside was that there isn’t anywhere to hang dressing gowns, clothes etc, other than over the heated towel rail, a couple of hooks on the door would easily solve this problem, but it’s not enough of a issue for us to mark it down.
The fridge was large enough, for our essentials plus beer, wine, chocolate (well, we were on holiday) there was also a microwave, oven and two burner hob, although we didn’t use them, a matching kettle and toaster was a nice touch
The large bed was softer than we were used to but was nice and comfy, the chest of drawers, clothes rail and bedside cabinets were more than adequate for our clothes storage
The table and chairs in the bay window were perfect to sit at and look at the view or watch the world go by, the two armchairs were very comfy although it could have benefitted from having something between the chairs or at the side to stand my cup or glass on, as my hubby had to keep passing it to me from the chest of drawers
There was a lovely sea view from the bed, armchairs and the table, so wherever you sat you had a lovely view.
It is just a short walk into Paignton, to the beach or along the pier, plus crazy golf is just opposite the property,, Brixham and Torquay are an easy drive/bus ride away
Your key is held in a key safe, the owner texts you the key code as soon as your room is ready, we had just parked up overlooking the beach when we got our text, so just drove across the road and parked up, they have free parking for each flat (a real bonus) although the spaces are a bit tight, they’re the same size as all the others in the area.
The one thing we did find annoying is the doors are heavy and tend to bang, being on the ground floor right next to the front door we heard everyone coming in or out, most people did try to close the door quietly but not all, unfortunately there were 3 lads above us who tended to be noisy, letting the door bang, speaking loudly, coming in and out several times at night, the latest they came in was about 4:30am, which woke us up each time but hey-ho, they were on holiday as well and didn’t cause any other trouble,
There was frequently a smell of ‘weed’ but we think it was coming from a room at the neighbouring large hotel,
All in all a lovely stay at a lovely apartment

Stayed here for 2 nights in the Mermaids View apartment and it was amazing. Very modern and well finished apartments, everything was spotless. It was lovely to be able to sit at the table having breakfast while looking at the sea. The bathroom had a very large shower and a heated towel rail although a couple of hooks on the bathroom door would be handy. The heating seems to be on a timer so even though we changed the temperature in the room the radiator didn't come on again until morning, not an issue though as it was warm enough with the duvet. The bed was lovely and comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped including a fridge with a freezer box in, kettle, toaster, microwave, oven and hob, plus all of the utensils you would need, the only thing we seemed to be missing was a bottle opener/corkscrew. We would not hesitate to come back or to recommend.

We stayed here for 3 nights for the may Bank Holiday weekend. There are pluses and minuses on this place and here they are:
Positives
Great location
Comfortable bed
Modern interior
Free car parking

Negatives
There are a few more of these and they were things that could have easily have been put right

When we arrived, the balcony was filthy. Birds nest old bits of metal, debris etc...it had not been cleaned.
The kitchen utensils and bowls had not had a deep clean as promised. In fact, I ended up re washing it all again as there was still food left in some. Hardly covid secure.
The bathroom was nice but ridiculously small. The pictures on the website show it looking bigger. There's no hook on the door for your towel so it means you have to put your towel on top of the toilet seat as there is literally no where else to put it.
Bathroom had one toilet roll, and when I asked if we could have another one I was told they only supplied a few ( we had one)
There was rubbish left from previous guests. A packet on tablets on the floor, the deep cleaning regime is clearly not working. There were also lots of hand marks on the walls and surfaces.
Car park is right out front and great that it's free but the spaces are so narrow which means that if you have a large car, it's rubbish. We ended up with a scratch down the side of ours.
On the last night, there was a real strong smell of weed. The corridor stunk of it so I'm assuming one of the guests in the other rooms were smoking it.
I was under the impression that if anything was needed , I could just text. So when I asked about 1 toilet roll, I was shocked that I was told I had to get my own. I know its a cheap item, but I have never stayed in appartment and been given such a mediocre supply. I paid £380 for 3 nights, to say I'm disappointed is an understatement that you couldn't supply an extra 20p toilet roll.
The walls are also very thin and you could hear the conversations and the baby crying next door and doors slamming at all hours
This place is not covid secure.

Response from Tina Sunnybeach, Owner at Sunnybeach Holiday Apartments
Responded 2 Jun 2021
Sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy your stay, unfortunately the studios and apartments are all self catering. I know from messages you was really not happy with the amount of complementary toilet rolls, which then seems to have created a bad experience for you. With the birds nest, we had scaffolding up to have front of the building painted, when it was taken down a birds nest was found on the balcony, unfortunately we couldn’t move the nest or scaffolding plates as there was a bird with 2 eggs, you might be pleased to know that one of them hatched when previous guests where there and was named Penelope I can now see from photo that they have flown the nest, we will go down and remove. We will then arrange for the new tiles to go down that couldn’t be done, which will be same as front door steps we have just had done. The hooks on bathroom door sound like a great idea, so will arrange for some to be installed. We have invested and reinvested a lot of money since we took over in October 2019, installing heating, refurbishing every apartment, removing coin meters, new electrics etc so as well as your review title “Disppointing” we also find your review very disappointing with how you reviewed your stay after how much we have done at Sunnybeach since 2019. We would always advise any guest to always contact us while staying if they have any problems at all, it’s hard to sort something if we don’t know about it. While most of the reviews are high we are finding some guests are used to all inclusive but not able to go abroad this year where everything is included and have someone at reception 24 hours, unfortunately we are only setup for self catering. Kind regards Sunnybeach

We booked Seagulls Rest and Crabby Cove apartments for a girls weekend, both were lovely properties in a fantastic location.
The apartments were beautifully decorated with everything that we needed, facilities were excellent and we all had a great sleep.
A very short walk to Harbour light where we had a great meal, Shoreline where we had a lovely breakfast and the Adventure Golf was just over the road.
The only negative comment I would make is in regard to paying an additional £3 per person for a towel, it should really just be included in the price, as should the cleaning fee, it was a bit like airbnb in that sense.

An excellent apartment in a great location, opposite the beach and near to the harbour. The apartment and whole building was beautifully presented, bright and modern with a seaside vibe. The apartment was spotless, with a well stocked kitchen. Parking was directly outside the front and rear of the property and free.

We stayed in Crabby Cove Apartment, which was well laid out, comfortable with good sized rooms. The beds were comfortable including the sofa bed. The shower was a good size, water was always hot and had high water pressure.

The iPad, with its welcome messages, video user guides and general information, was a great addition and allowed for easy contact with the owners who responded quickly.

Will definitely stay here again when next in Paignton.

We booked Sunnybeach last minute and found everything fantastic. Easy to book, easy to find, free parking right outside and simple check in! The apartment we booked was perfect for us and our toddler with an adjoining bedroom off of our double room. The bathroom was immaculate and the walk in shower was absolutely to die for! The apartment is beautifully fitted and furnished and really is a home from home. They have adapted very well to new Covid restrictions and we felt very safe and taken care of with Tina only at the end of the phone to deal with any problems (not that you could find any!) Perfect central location with lots of things to do for kids and nice restaurants just a stones throw away. We will be back in the summer to take full advantage of the beachfront location. Thank you for a lovely little holiday in the English Riviera!

I booked to stay in the 'Salty Dog' apartment at Sunnybeach (very last minute) to stay on 5th July for 4 nights. I went with my 5 year old son and my parents, agreeing my parents would have the 1 bedroom and myself and Eddy would have the pull out bed. I was expecting the place to be very 'tight' but as it was so last minute we would manage so I was pleasantly surprised to find the apartment so spacious. The décor was immaculate, I was particularly impressed with the bathroom which had a massive shower. The whole apartment was extremely clean and the mod cons to a high spec. The location could not have been better, we literally stepped out the apartment and you were on the sea front. I can highly recommend this place and am looking forward to returning.

We stayed in the Lobster Studio. Immaculate little apartment. Great communication for owners, very easy check-in (received a message when apartment was ready, with code to collect keys from box outside door).
Tablet to use in the room with local information etc loaded in to it.
Very comfortable bed, cosy room. Shower room with hot and powerful shower.
Everything we needed in the kitchenette (plenty of cutlery, mugs, glasses etc).
Only things to point out for anyone else visiting is that there’s no USB or shaver socket points - so remember your adapter plugs!!! Also no tea/coffee in room so need to bring your own.
Would absolutely stay here again!
Fantastic location as across the road from the beach - very handy for my sea swimming!!

Had a long weekend here, everything first class, we had the studio, very clean, tidy, and all we wanted and more. Brilliant sea views, decor on trend and bed very comfy, will definitely return. Chairs and tables so we had a chilled breakfast and meandered out when we felt like it.
