Stayed here for 5 nights in August. The people running it are very friendly and approachable. The location is lovely and quiet with a pretty garden and just a short walk from the main high street, shops, bar, pubs, restaurants, pier and train station.

I stayed in the Cove Room on the ground floor, overlooking the front of the house and the car park. My en suite room was very clean, comfortable and I slept well although I was awoken one morning between 03.00 - 04.00 by a mishap it transpired as somebody was setting off very early and accidentally activated the car alarm as they got into the car. I soon got back to sleep though. The only little niggle about my room was the table and lamp were not directly next to the bed meaning a fumble sometimes to find the switch for the now routine, middle of the night toilet visit! Other than that it was absolutely fine.

Breakfast was enjoyably and a very good choice was on offer including, cereals, fruit, full English, juice tea and coffee etc., No complaints on the food, choice or service. Free Wi- Fi through out the property. A honesty bar in the establishment as well which was a nice touch.

Overall, a very enjoyable stay, I would happily stay here again without hesitation.

We came down to Paignton for the 1st of October as the dogs are free to go on the beaches. The hotel is small so not loads of people wandering in and out. Our room was very clean and tidy. Nice big shower, comfy bed. The bedding was ultra clean and the bed comfy. There was hand sanitizer in the room. The owners do not service your room and you can request more towels etc. There is also hand sanitizer within the front porch. The hotel allows dogs and nearly all the people staying either had one or two dogs. The dogs are made to feel welcome and even if the barked there was no concern that they had made a noise. Everybody ensured their dog or dogs were well behaved. We found that the hotel was close to Goodrington north beach which was ideal to walk them first thing, you walk through a small park first and then it opens up to this lovely beach and lake. The breakfasts were well cooked and plenty of choice, we drink defcaf coffee which there was gallons on offer. There is plenty of parking. Note that a lot of the pubs and restaurants are closed on Mondays. All the car parks are still requiring you to pay and display, so we used ringo as it so easy to set up and not have to keep finding change. You can park your car on the sea front at Paignton but you still need to pay. Worth reading the changes as some days are free after a particular time which ringo does not indicate on the app.

Will definitely come back to the amber house hotel as we love to go away with our dogs and we had such a great and stress free time.

Debbie, Vivien, Mark and Paul are the new Hosts of Amber House since taking it over late Summer last Year. They cannot be more accommodating making our stay this weekend very comfortable. Amber House had been a favourite of ours in the past during our trips to Devon and shall become so again, it is in an ideal location for trips out to explore the wonders that Devon has to offer or alternatively in a great position for the Beach at Goodrington. Each morning was started with a very good breakfast for which both Debbie and Vivian ensured we were provided with everything we wanted. Our room was spotlessly clean with all the usual and expected facilities. Vey many thanks to Debbie and Vivian for making our stay so good.

We arrived and were greeted by the hosts Debbie & Viv who explained the rules about the Covid restrictions but went to great pains to explain that if we needed anything we only had to ask. The Harbour room was great with wonderful views over the sea to Brixham Harbour. The location is perfect within easy walking distance of Goodrington and Paignton, the gardens are beautiful an ideal place to sit in the afternoon sun with a drink. Breakfast was great plenty of it a great menu and again nothing to much trouble. This is a Guest House I would readily recommend to all our friends and family, and will defiantly be planning another visit.

What a lovely hotel, the owners couldn't be more welcoming. From arrival to departure they were so friendly and chatty.

We stayed in Rockpool, a family suite with 2 bedrooms and 2 shower rooms. It was spotlessly clean and had all you expect, coffee / tea making bits, the fluffiest towels and some lovely toiletries. The double room's shower had fab pressure - I can't comment on the other one as I didn't use it.

The large garden was perfect to relax in on a warm evening with lots of seating. An honesty bar is provided and the price was very reasonable.

Really wide variety of breakfast available from full English to porridge. Teen had eggs benedict both mornings and loved them. Plentiful good coffee, juice and cereal on offer too.

Had the nicest time and will definitely rebook if we come back to the area.

Just a two night break in a very nice and reasonably priced B&B. Very warm welcome on arrival. Single ground floor room (Sky) facing the communal garden. Perfectly adequate for my needs but just had to remember to close the curtains when necessary! All room facilities as described and, unlike some places that I've stayed, and after allowing the usual short running time to set it, a mixer shower that worked reliably (especially in the morning!). Didn't use the DVD player but there appeared to be a very large collection of DVDs in the entrance hall for anyone thus inclined and which is guarded by a large ornamental spaniel! Usual self-service choice of juice and cereals for breakfast plus a number of cooked options on the menu. Adequate car parking space. Quiet location yet just a few minutes walk from town, bus and train stations, harbour and both Paignton and Goodrington beaches. There is also a lovely circular walk to be had nearby around Roundham Gardens. The icing on the cake was having three days of glorious weather to also see the wider area at it's finest especially the excellent "Round Robin" bus, boat and train trip around and along the simply beautiful River Dart. On leaving, I was advised of a possible discount on a further visit to Amber House which was a nice touch and is somewhat tempting.......

We stayed here over the bank holiday weekend with our dog. This is the 8th year running we have stayed here. We always used to stay in the Harbour room as our daughter used to come with us but now she is older it is just us and the dog so we opted for Coast room which was spotlessly clean. The views from this room over to Brixham and beyond are great. Dogs are very welcome and if you email direct and ask they will provide dog bowls etc in the room. Towels are provided in the entrance for use for dogs. It is just around the corner from a park which leads onto the dog friendly beach. There is a lovely garden if you wanted to eat breakfast outside with your dog as they are not allowed in the dining room. A list of dog friendly restaurants is provided. We always leave the car in the car park and travel by bus or boat to Torquay an Paignton

All in all another great stay and will be booking again for next year!

Made very welcome by Debbie & Viv. Coeliacs can feel safe here. Nothing was too much trouble. Fab cooked breakfast using GF ingredients. Good hot or cold choices served in dining room or in a sunny garden. Immaculately decorated & clean Pebble room. Great shower, plenty of towels. Bed was very comfortable and apart from seagulls squawking in the morning we slept well !! Free parking, walking distance to Paignton for bus & train station - we got day tickets to visit Brixham & Torquay. Would definitely recommend.

I stayed at Amber House for a week at the end of May and I was given the 'Sky Room ' which is for solo travelers and was of ample size for me. All the hosts are very welcoming and friendly, just really nice people.
The breakfast is certainly most adequate and the 'honesty bar' is a excellent idea, Amber House is located in a quiet area about a 10 minute walk from the seafront and a short walk to the steam train station as well.
The best recommendation I can make is to say that I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again next time I visit South Devon.

Deb and Viv and their husbands run the most fabulous B&B. It is spotlessly clean and I mean spotless. The welcome is so warm and friendly I felt at home right away. I arrived a bit early and was seated in the conservatory and given a very much needed cup of coffee, whilst we sorted the room and paid the bill. Viv and Deb really looked after me for the whole stay. I can't praise them enough. Breakfast was great, bed super comfy and the room had lots of little extra touches like a Tupperware box and plastic knife and fork for a packed lunch. Plenty of tea and coffee too. Loved it. I will definitely be back. Simply wonderful. Thank you for everything.
