Stayed here back in September for a short family break. Booked late but got a great deal. I contacted the hosts in advance to check on various things and always got a quick and helpful response.
The location is great, a short walk downhill to either Paignton beach on one side or Goodrington Sands on the other.
The hosts were extremely friendly and hospitable both on arrival and throughout the visit. We were very impressed with the Covid compliant policies in place and felt completely safe throughout the stay.
There is off street parking at the rear of the property.
The rooms were very good, perfectly adequate for a short stay.
Breakfast was great with good choices.
We used the small residents bar on two of the nights. This was nice and the owners were very happy to spend time with us.
All in all a fantastic place to stay. Ian and Amanda and his parents were fantastic hosts. Thanks again and we hope to see you in the near future.

I've stayed here a few times now and find Amanda and Ian and their family really welcoming and the Sonachan very comfortable. It has a great location near the beach and local facilities or makes a good base to explore South Devon further. Thoroughly recommended.

This is the second time we have been at this hotel and It was like coming home. Amanda, Ian, Joan and Chris are an apsolute credit to themselves. There hospitality is so great and nothing is to much trouble. We stayed in a double room and our grandson had a single room with a double bed which was classed as a single room. The rooms were spacious tidy, clean and fully complied with the covid rules.

The breakfast was full English and plenty of choice was avaliable to suit anyone's palate.

This is excellent value for our stay and we are returning in September 2021.

Kindest regards

Sue and Reg Walker

Due to the current circumstances, we booked this last minute and were certainly not disappointed.
We were given a very warm welcome and a full explanation of the COVID measures implemented throughout.
There was a small but more than ample free car park. The location was superb and only a short walk from the beaches and town centre.
The room was lovely with a sea view. The room was simple but lovely and very clean. The bed was comfortable and a nice clean en-suite.
In these strange times, room service wasn’t as normal. Any requests, you simply leave a note outside the door or send a text.
A wonderful stay and would recommend.

Me and my family ain’t with our friends stayed at Sonachan House Hotel for 3 days ( 3rd June and 5th June 2021). We would like to thank the hosts Amanda and Ian, for their fantastic hospitality. They were so friendly and kind. The House Hotel is in the perfect location on Paignton Devon sea front. The House Hotel had all the hand sanitisers and procedures to comply with the Covid 19 restrictions. It was clean, quiet and the amazing breakfasts were delicious. I would highly recommend staying at Sonachan House if you are taking a trip to Paignton. Wishing both Amanda and Ian good luck, and the hard wor, love and passion you both are putting into running the house Hotel will take you to places.Great accommodation, very comforting, and making our trip really memorable - Komal and Gautam Room 11.

My daughter and I have just returned from our second visit to this wonderful guest house.
As with last year - excellent service, superb cleanliness and the lovely and accommodating family who run it.
The very robust Covid 19 precautions were smoothly executed and made us feel very reassured and safe. A truly lovely place to stay - situated equidistantly between two beautiful beaches.
Yummy breakfast and reasonably priced bar.
Will definitely return! It’s become our home away from home :)

My family and I stayed here for an extra long weekend.
The business has been taken over by new management on the day of our arrival. But the two issues we found were sorted by yrhe new management. They are a lovely friendly family who don't mind children with needs and are very interested in your view. The rooms we had a brilliant and the breakfast. Well it's definitely on the top of the list for taste ease of changes and prepared on time of ur arrival u ask for.
If any one else jas kids with needs or kids in general the have a selection of games books and sand toys to take to the beach. There is a lovely rear garden area and a cool pond behind a fence u can access but don't have to worry kids will fall in as is se ure.
Unlike most places they have a laundry line u can hang ur wet clothes from the beach up on . And is safe enough it's all back there when ur back .
The car park is a lil steep but has ample parking .
I don't say this often but the new management definitely brighten your morning up when u get breakfast and always meet you with a smile and cheerfulness.
I would give more stars if I could

Wow what a stay . My friend and I spent two nights at Sonachan House and left wanting more . Aaron and Leanne could not do any more for us . They were so welcoming, informative about the area and places to eat . The continental breakfast was delicious, with plenty on offer .
We stayed in two newly renovated rooms of high standard , the best night sleep I've had in years . The rooms provided tea and coffee facilities and also bottles of water .
The bar was a lovely bonus,. A relaxing area to have a couple of drinks before going out for our meal on the evening .
The hotel itself is situated in a lovely position a short walk to both Paignton and Goodrington I spent Sunday morning sat watching the world go by in Goodrington it was lovely .
I would therfore, highly recommend staying at Sonachan House to anyone wanting a relaxing and enjoyable break with excellent hosts.
Thank you Aaron and Leanne we will be back 🥰

The room i stayed in was lovely, spotlessly clean. Very comfortable bed, lovely white cotton sheets, lovely soft pillows, duvet nice and cosy. Had a very good nights sleep. The owners Aaron and Leanne could not do enough for you Anything you wanted or needed you just had to ask and they did the best to comply. If not an alternative was sourced if possible. Televisions were provided in the rooms or could be watched on the larger television in the newly renovated sitting room. The breakfast was continental with a very good selection of products. Tea and coffee was available. I would certainly recommend this B&B to anyone who may be visiting this lovely area of Devon. The Air show was on so that was a bonus. Fantastic Display by the Red Arrows. Well worth a visit to Sunny Devon.
