Another excellent stay at The Redcliffe Hotel. I went with a group of friends and the service and overall treatment was second to none. Sandra and her team excelled as always. We will return!!!!! If I had any negative comment it would be..... let's do away with the masks. Communication is so important these days and I found the masks an unnecessary barrier. Don't let that stop you though as this really is an excellent hotel.
Red arrows did not fly ( bad weather) We had buffet lunch and cream tea. Hotel is looking it's age but staff were polite food good. Beautiful position on edge of cliff overlooking own beach and sea. Lovely outside seating area with main beaches of Paignton and Preston on either side. Easy to find on main seafront road. The interior needs an update old-fashioned although clean.
After being let down by another hotel that had double booked our rooms on the platinum jubilee weekend we telephoned through to the Redcliffe hotel. They were amazing. Friendly and helpful and could not do enough for us. Our rooms were lovely and had the advantage of a lovely sea view with a balcony. Food was lovely. The hotel is very clean. location is brilliant. The manager in particular was so helpful despite being so very busy. It was very clear to us that she is very passionate about the hotel, her team and the people that stay here. We will definitely be returning and would recommend.
Stayed here for my Grandads 85th birthday, in total there were 17 of us staying for the weekend. We all arrived at different times, but when my group arrived (3 of us/2 rooms) the lady behind the counter was very helpful letting us know where our rooms were and where everything in the hotel was. To comment on the rooms is rather difficult as from the 5 different rooms I saw they were all slightly different. For example, 1 had a balcony and 1 had a dressing room. So for this reason it's difficult to say anything about the rooms as it looks like it's pot luck as to what room you get as to what layout you get. What I will say is that all the rooms were clean and tidy, all had TV's, kettles, coffee and tea for if you wanted one before going down to breakfast or before bed. The 'worst' room (that I was in) was more than good enough for me, plenty of space and clean. If I was sharing with someone the changing area would have been a huge plus but I wasn't so not an issue. The groundfloor is the main area for everything such as the gym, swimming pool, bar area and restaurant area. From the bar you can go to the outside area which has stunning views of the sea, the pier, Torquay and Brixham (sea photos). The swimming pool was a good enough size to have a swim in and also had the sauna, steam room and hot tub in the same area aswell as a couple of tables to sit at. Unfortunately the hot tub wasn't working but that wasn't an issue for us. I could see rhe pool being a bit cramped if there were a few different groups in there at the same time but we never had this issue. On the 1st floor there is also a little lounge area with sea views, which we used when the weather wasn't too great. The beach and pier is just a short walk away with a massive grass area back from the beach for those who aren't keen on sand. On the Sunday we had a big family meal together where the hotel put us in our own room (not sure if this was to give us our own space or if it was their way of keeping us from other guests 😅), either way it was fantastic for us. It allowed the kids to be kids without having to be told to sit down and it made it easier for us adults to move around freely talking rather than feel like we had to stay seated. The staff were great with all ages ranging from 4 upto 85 and pretty much everything in between, we couldn't have been easy but nothing seem to be a problem. Would I stay here again, absolutely!!! Would I recommend it, to a selected few. This hotel isn't for everyone and not everyone would appreciate the older decor and feel (I do not mean dirty and run down). However if you are OK with/looking for a hotel that has not been refurbished to keep up with trends that has an older feel to it you will probably love it here. To all the team at Redcliff, thank you for making my Grandads birthday special and looking after us all it js very much appreciated. If you made it this far through the review you'll probably booking. Enjoy your stay and hopefully the sun stays out so you can enjoy the outside area ☀️🍺.…
The best thing about this hotel is the location being literally right on the beach. Room was fine. Breakfast was good with beautiful views from the restaurant and very attentive service. It’s not a modern hotel but that wasn’t what we were looking for Indoor jacuzzi needs to be hotter and working properly. The swimming pool was warmer than the jacuzzi. There was no hotel stay in the room telling us about amenities etc. We ate out in the evenings so can’t review dinner service Overall nice stay
Just had my dads 80th birthday lunch at The Redcliffe Hotel. I can’t sing the praises of the staff enough. We had a private room as there were 4 small children in our party and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent the room was stunning. It just cou”don’t have been better. I would go back again in a heartbeat and definitely will do.
I have been going to this hotel since I was 11 years old which is now 55 years! We have had every Easter there for many years. It was great to go again this Easter after 2 years break due to Covid. The food was excellent as is the service.
We have just returned from a far too short stay at the Redcliffe with my 85 year old mother and grandchildren. I cannot speak highly enough of this amazing hotel, perfect location and standard of cleanliness. But top of this list this is one of the best run hotels I have stayed in for a very long time. The staff are amazing -- nothing is too much trouble, they go above and beyond to help without being overpowering. I have worked in the Leisure industry for over 30 years and they have it just right, experienced staff who know how to ensure everyone is relaxed and catered for. Food was amazing --- pool great for the children they thoroughly enjoyed their stay. After the awful last two years wish them every success for a busy season !! we will be back very son.
What a fantastic hotel, centrally situated & on the beach, with great staff who were always happy to help in any way possible Whilst it maybe tired in many areas the staff & great service made our visit We will be returning later in the year and look forward to seeing how the hotel is going to be updated
Booked 2 nights here, on arrival we walked into reception, the wind was blowing through the hotel, The man on reception was friendly enough, gave us our card key and we made way to our room 71, the ambience of the hotel was awful, cold and dated but we would just make the best of it, on entering the room i was struck again by how cold it was, no heating on in February . we didn't unpack immediatly but went out for food as it appeared nothing or no one around in the hotel. when we returned we closed the curtains to find a huge stain on the curtain, looked like blood to us, i really did not want to stay , so we went to reception and said we were leaving, i showed the man the photo of the curtain, he said ' it's not good is it ' no dam right its not good. i asked about a refund, i was told if i put it in writing a refund would follow, i did that there and then , he tried to offer us another room, but we did not want to stay after that. I have just found out the hotel have only refunded half of my money based on the fact they offered another room, and i refused it . My husband and i are in our 60s, we have NEVER left somewhere because it was bad before so believe me it must be for us to leave . The manager never spoke to us, showed no interest at all, and has kept half our money knowing we didn't stay . so now i will leave it to you to decide if this is the place you want to go and spend your money , OR NOT I understand people have different standards , but i think ours are not high standards, we just want a clean comfortable room, dated furniture etc isn't a big issue to us. whats more important is customer service . keeping half our money because we wouldn't stay is not good customer service . if the hotel decide to do the right thing then i will update my review to say so…
