We are locals but eat fairly regularly in the restaurant. Their sizzler menu is particularly good value with big steaks (from the local butcher) well cooked. It is available daily and not only on certain night as with some others in the area. Tonight we went there intending to again have a steak sizzer, but chose the Christmas menu. The...

We visited the hotel on Sunday 25 September 2016. The deep fried Brie was hard to find and the pastry was very greasy. The steak was so tough evening the steak knife had trouble get through it. The fish was very dry and had greasy batter. The skillet for the steak was so hot it had burnt the underside of...

We go to this hotel to eat regularly and it gets better each time. The ongoing renovations mean that the hotel looks a little better each time too. Staff are friendly and very helpful - children are well catered for and the beef Sunday Roast is amazing. Worth a visit on its own.

My wife and I went for a meal on Sunday 11th September 2016. She had the haggis, neeps and tatties. The neeps could not be found and the whole thing was drowned in a sort of marmite flavoured gravy. I had a Thai noodle dish. The strips of beef were very tough and the food was rather tasteless. My food...

An overnight stay so wanted somewhere comfortable but inexpensive and this fitted the bill perfectly. It's clean, welcoming and well run. The meal was really very good - which is a surprise for inexpensive hotels that specialise in the overnight or business traveller. Lots of golf visitors so a busy bar but I wasn't bothered by noise. I would return...

Having been let down by The Bayswell Park Hotel I enquired at the Hillside Hotel if they had any rooms. Although they had no vacancies the two members of staff I spoke to wouldn't let me leave until they had found me alternative accommodation. Thanks to them we went on to have an excellent weekend in Dunbar. Should we return...
