Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had an enjoyable 5 day stay at The Dolphin Inn. Thanks to Tom, Abbi, Louise and also Jo for their kindness and helpfulness. Despite cold weather the rooms were warm and comfortable. There was plenty of food available for breakfasts and free teas and coffees when needed. Close to harbour, castle ruins, shops and walks not to mention sea views. What’s not to like! Hope to return soon.

Whatever group of individuals conceived, created and run The Dolphin Inn should run the country. From the moment you walk through the front door to be greeted by staff (Tom, in our case) and take in the magical, vintage loveliness of the furnishings and the relaxed layout to the reluctant time departure, you will be comfortable and relaxed to be there. There is a winning combination of excellent value for money and quality - Lavazzo coffee and Bonne Maman jam, for goodness sake and more than functional shower and bath facilities. And Dunbar has the community bakery with sourdough AND a range of traditional and not so sweet treats and my favourite shop ever, the Community Carrot, veg and deli emporium. There’s a lot more, so go to Dunbar, I urge you! I

Simply one of the best hostels that we’ve ever stayed in. Bravo to all concerned at The Dolphin. You guys have thought of everything and have got it absolutely spot on in every way. Special thanks and credit to Abbie who was a lovely host during our all too brief stay. A & M 🙏

We had a great experience at the Dolphin Inn. The place is more like a hotel than a hostel. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and we liked the quirky decor. Would definitely stay again!

Lovely place for a family gathering; warm, very clean and well maintained, great kitchen and dining area for a large group. In an ideal location for beach, harbour, shops, takeaways without needing to drive. Really good for children (ages 7 to 17) - they really liked the bunk beds and had lots of fun with the typewriter. The staff were very helpful and friendly, thanks for a lovely weekend.

Superb facility in a great location! I stayed for a cycle trip in the area and was extremely impressed with the Dolphin. The whole place is very clean, airy, well designed and has everything needed. The rooms are large, bright, comfortable and spotless as well as being very quiet - great sleep! Breakfast was great and, again, had everything we needed. Tom, the manager, was very friendly and informative and always on hand to help. A hot shower and relax in the lounge area was great after a day of fresh air.
