Detailed Reviews
We traveled all the way up from Lands Ends on bicycles and stayed in lots of different hotels, B&Bs etc. The Dolphin Inn was by far the best place we stayed in and is in a very good location. The rooms are immaculate, the beds are comfortable, there is plenty of room and plug sockets also have USB sockets near the bed. The whole place has it own theme with different things to look at and adds to the charter. The bathrooms are excellent too, all modern and clean. Downstairs there is a kitchen with everything you need to make your own food (there are also things tea and coffee, cereal, bread, jam, butter, milk etc).
The staff were lovely and incredibly welcoming and helpful.
They also have proper bike storage containers for bikes which can be locked up nice and securly.
I would definitely recommend this place if you are in Dunbar. Next time I'm there I will definitely stay again!

+1
Vintage nice hotel! I didn't know very well what to expect at first, but it was a very welcoming place, staff were really approachable and accommodating. Jo not only allowed me to use the bath from another room when my back was aching, but also cleaned it quickly just in case someone else had used it before. There were common areas to chill out, books, a vinyl turntable with speakers and lots of board games. The kitchen was huge with plenty of utensils for cooking your meals, a big fridge to store your own food and lots of spices and sauces for free.

We booked a couple of nights at the Dolphin, to bookend our trip to the outer Hebrides with the Overlanders (see desperate review).
It's one of the best hostels we have ever stayed in. On both occasions, we had a large private room: the beds were very comfortable, the rooms are spotlessly clean, the shared bathrooms had great showers.
The shared areas: dining, kitchen, lounge, courtyard are all nicely done.
However, it is the tone and welcome of the place that rises the Dolphin above the average: staff are very welcoming, informative and helpful - leaving washing machine room open late for us as we had a lot of washing to catch up on having been in a week's cycling holiday!!
Highly recommend this as a great little place to stay.

Clean, welcoming, incredibly well thought out, comfortable beds, spacious rooms and perfectly located. Communal kitchen with all the facilities you might need, including basics like milk, tea and coffee, spices and dried goods, to bike storage and a sunny courtyard. The quirky vintage furniture and ephemera including the fish tank tv just add to a great experience.
The staff were really friendly, helpful and everything felt very Covid safe.
Just a couple of suggestions: a mirror and hand soap in the shared bathrooms (we were in room 11), there are mirrors in the bedrooms, but one over the sink would be useful, and maybe the potential to borrow a hairdryer (we were cycle touring, so on minimal luggage!).
Would thoroughly recommend!

Hi, thanks so much taking the time to review so warmly. Delighted you had such a good experience with your stay. We also welcome your feedback very much. We do have hairdryers/iron & board/laundry facilities etc but have now updated our room sheets to make that clear. We are still making tweaks to fixtures and furnishings - it's a work in progress! Thanks again and look forward to welcoming you back at some point.

What a delightful place to stay in Dunbar. I stayed one night with friends and absolutely loved it. From the warm friendly welcome, staff were extremely helpful and allowed me to store my surfboard in a safe storage area. The rooms were immaculate, comfortable and bathrooms plentiful. The whole place is stylish and quirky with lovely touches like the tv/fish tank in reception. The facilities are faultless, a really spacious dining area provided a complimentary breakfast which was much appreciated. I was in a twin room, beds were comfy and bedding/towels were spotless. Lovely view of the sea was a bonus. Easy free parking nearby and really handy for the town centre for dinner options. The outdoor area looked lovely but didn’t get the opportunity to use it. Will definitely be back. Thanks a million

I had a great few days at the Dolphin Inn with my dog. Lisa and Niall were super welcoming, friendly, kind, and gave great tips on places to go.
I stayed in one of the ensuites and had a lovely view of the sea from the second floor. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious, as were the shared facilities on the ground floor. The kitchen is well-equipped and in the dining room there are teas and coffee (and dog treats) available for all to enjoy. Generously, basic breakfast items are put out each morning so that you can help yourself if you want. Board games and puzzles and books are on offer, as well a great little retro vinyl collection. The outdoor patio is a lovely area to chill out or to let the dog run around. I loved the decor of the entire place.
The Dolphin Inn is situated in the centre of town with very easy access to the train station, bus routes, local shops, cafes and eateries, bars, leisure centre, parks, and museums. Car parking isn’t a problem on side streets. The sea front is a few minutes walk away, and you can wander for miles from the front door. Remember to take a hat for those blustery North Sea winds!
One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in. Thank you Lisa and Niall. I hope to visit again xx

Booked just one night here en route to a weekend away. We were totally impressed with everything - charming set up with really interesting, quality, quirky retro fixtures and fittings, beautifully decorated and arranged, Super clean everywhere and really generous touches like food and drinks and all sorts of extras available to use in the kitchen. The staff were delightful and friendly, so helpful. I really cannot praise it enough.

Stayed here after surfing at Belhaven Bay on Saturday morning, the staff were extremely warm and welcoming and I felt at home as soon as I walked through the door.
The room was lovely, the decorations reminded me of home and the beds were extremely comfy too.
Would definitely recommend to anyone to stay at this lesser known gem for any occasion and you will not regret it.
(When you stay be sure to look at the snails in the TV fish tank)

Just back from a one night stay with my daughter. Had a very warm, friendly welcome. The rooms were simple but tasteful, warm and pleasant and the beds were comfy.
The bathrooms were spotless, the kitchen well equipped and the hostel even provided the basic items for a self-service breakfast (hot drinks, fresh milk, bread, butter, jam, etc). I was impressed that they even had gluten-free bread and cornflakes for guests!
My daughter appreciated the puzzles, books, guitar etc that were available for the guests’ use.
The hostel is also well located near the shops and harbour.
No complaints at all. Well done!

We just returned from our 3 nights stay, we had an amazing time, Thanks to Lisa and Naill (and other boy, forgot his name) they all made us fell so welcomed. The local people we have met while in Dubar were only saying nice things about The Dolphin Inn. The place itself is truly unique, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean🔝💯and very Pet Friendly 🐾we will definitely return back ❗️
