We were made to feel very welcome by Bill and Jackie during our recent stay with them. The room and en-suite were spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean, as are all the other rooms that we saw. There was a very good choice for breakfast and Bill's cooked breakfast is highly recommended. The Birkdale is in a quiet road and... More

Great location near Shanklin old town. Walking distance to some nice pubs and restaurants. The Birkdale is lovely and clean with great owners who are really helpful. The breakfasts are really good and you can choose exactly what you want. Great parking on the front of the hotel.

We booked 3 nights and picked a winner with the Birkdale. Jackie and Bill were wonderful hosts and very accommodating when we unexpectedly had to make a last minute change. The accommodation is nice and contemporary and spotless, Bill's breakfast is not to be missed. The hotel is within a short stroll of a good selection of places to eat... More

Booked 3 nights at this hotel after reading some reviews. It is in a side street so quiet at night. The hotel is just a stones throw from the old village so a brilliant location. From arriving to sadly leaving, Jackie and Bill were fantastic hosts. The breakfasts were filling and loved the poached eggs. Our room number 6 was a lovely double and very quiet at the back of the property. The B&B is one minute from the high street and 5 minutes from the beach. Fantastic location and lots of places for lunch... More

Three nights in spacious room 4 with a great en suite and good breakfasts. Well located close to the old village which is little changed since I first visited Shanklin 40 years ago. Jackie and Bill are excellent hosts which was confirmed by the relaxed atmosphere in the breakfast room. Recommended.

Jackie and Bill are great hosts, with a guarantee of a warm welcome and a comfortable stay at their lovely B&B in The Isle Of Wight. The Birkdale is set in Shanklin Village, two minutes away from the pretty thatched roofed pubs and Shanklin Chine, and in an ideal location for an evening at the Shanklin Theatre which is only... Situated in the heart of Shanklin's beautiful old village you will find the Birkdale, superbly run by Jackie and Bill. From the moment you arrive you are made to feel welcome with nothing too much trouble. All rooms are tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean. Breakfasts are a delight, being cooked to order and arriving hot! It is worth noting that there... More

We stayed at The Birkdale for 4 nights in August. Jackie and Bill could not have been more welcoming. The room was lovely and absolutely spotlessly clean. Attention to detail was obvious. The breakfast was beautifully cooked and nothing was too much trouble. There was a spacious guest lounge and lovely dining area. The B and B is situated very... More
