Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed here in August 2023, but only for 4 nights - which was a real shame, because it was the very best hotel of our holidays (and we had 3 more). It would definitely have been much better to stay more nights here and shortening the stay at other hotels. Why? Everything was perfect from the beginning to the end and far exceeded our expectations. We were greeted very warmly by Bill and he helped us carry our luggage upstairs. The rooms were very clean and nicely furnished, the breakfast selection was varied. We could also choose between various starters or juices which were then brought to the table - a great service. The breakfast was excellent and lovingly prepared. The Hotel owner, Bill, was our host/barkeeper at the Hotel Bar too and he did a marvellous job. There were enough private parking lots at the Hotel. The location is very good, the beach is right next to it, which is perfectly accessible by lift. I would recommend the hotel to anyone who wants to spend a holiday on the Isle of Wight because the price/quality ratio was also very good. We would come back at any time.

Hotel's Favourite
Just returned from 10 nights staying at the Hambledon hotel. Bill & Jackie have again made it a pleasurable holiday for us. We stay B&B, the breakfast choice is great & really sets you up for the day whether your visiting the beautiful sandy beaches that are a 5 minute walk or going out exploring this beautiful island. The bedrooms are all en-suite with tea & coffee making facilities, comfortable beds, a tv & free Wi-Fi, there’s a well stocked bar to have a drink before dinner, to meet up with other guests in the evening or sit quietly in the comfortable lounge. The hotel is spotlessly clean. Bill is very knowledgeable about the island & will happily give directions to places that are not usually found by holiday makers. We have already booked up again for next year & I would recommend anyone wanting to book to do it as it gets booked up very quickly. Thank you to Bill, Jackie & your wonderful staff for another great holiday.,

The hambledon Hotel is a lovely small hotel in shanklin . It is ideally situated taking only 10 minutes to walk to old shanklin old town . And very close to the lift which takes you down to the esplanade to lots of restaurants and pubs . There is parking available at the hotel which is good . We stayed for 4 nights in August. The host bill was very welcoming . We didn't see his wife Jackie, as she was back of house cooking the breakfast each morning , which was very nice everything you could want from tea coffee , fruit juices cereal and fruit . Then you had the option of different cooked breakfasts . Our room was a double . Which was nice and big we had tea making facilities and daily housekeeping . The shower was nice and big and done the job perfectly. The room was nice and clean . Only one little niggle that I had was that the pillows were very thin and not very good quality and think that they need to be replaced . I would recommend staying here if you are ever on the Isle of wight . Bill was very helpful when ringing to book our break and he even organises the ferry crossing for you which is included in the price of youre holiday . Thankyou very much bill and Jackie for a lovely relaxing break at youre hotel .

This was our 11th year visiting The Hambledon Hotel, we’ve already booked for next year. From the minute you arrive you’re made to feel very welcome . The rooms are all modern & very comfortable, all are en-suite, there’s well stocked tea & coffee making facilities in your room that are refreshed daily. The beds are very comfortable, we took our 13 year old granddaughter who had her own room but the way it’s designed made it easy to turn it into a 2 bedroom family room. Each day starts with a delicious breakfast, you can start with cereal or fresh fruit followed by the main which ranges from a full English, boiled poached or scrambled eggs croissants & many more choices, toast, tea, coffee & fruit juice, breakfast really sets you up for a day relaxing on the nearby beach, walking the many trails or shopping. The Hambledon is set in a perfect location with sandy beaches only a few minutes walk in one direction & the village the other direction, a 10 minute walk away is the train station so you can travel up to Ryde or get off & join the steam train. There’s a well stocked bar where the guests can enjoy a drink Bill & Jackie are the perfect hosts & are only too happy to recommend places to eat. What Bill doesn’t know about the island isn’t worth knowing, he’s full of useful information to make your holiday more enjoyable. I would recommend friends & family to stay here.
