Detailed Reviews
We were the first guests to stay since reopening for the summer, and we can't fault anything. The hosts were warm & welcoming, with Sue greeting us on arrival, the rooms were well decorated, the breakfast is hearty & delicious! The views from the rooms are unmatched, as is the location, with beautiful views over the Channel.
There were good hygiene & safety precautions in place too, with sanitiser at the front door and into the dining room, bedrooms well cleaned, easy arrival & departure, pre ordered breakfast, and Alan wore a visor at breakfast. We felt very safe, and appreciated the extra precautions.
We would definitely stay here again if we are ever in the area, and would recommend it to anyone visiting the IOW!

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. Alan & Sue are fantastic, friendly hosts where nothing is too much trouble in making their guests feel welcome. Our room (2) had a beautiful view out to sea and overlooked the very pretty garden which is well maintained and colourful. The whole establishment is spotlessly clean. Our room was light and airy and very clean with lovely lined curtains which helped keep the sun out when needed. Rooms are well equipped and cleaned daily. Breakfast is more than ample cooked fresh and served hot. Lovely walk along the coastal path to either Sandown or Shanklin. Highly recommend this guest house and we will definitely be returning next year. Thank you Alan and Sue for outstanding hospitality during our stay with you.

This exceeded our expectations in all departments. Alan & Sue were the perfect hosts. The room had a spectacular view out to sea. The grounds were very well kept. Inside did not let us down. Everything was good quality and would pass any test. The room was spotless and the facilities were perfect. Lovely comfy bed. It was a delight to have an electric shower that worked well with a good flow of water. Breakfast was excellent using good quality produce, cooked and presented perfectly. Nothing was to much trouble for our hosts Alan & Sue. Alan made the perfect front of house and was a fountain of information.
Should we return to Shanklin, this B&B will be our first choice to stay. Right up there on the top of the podium. Well done both of you and thanks.

Had an incredible stay here recently. We had the twin sea view room and loved the views! The room was extremely comfortable and had everything you could need including fans for the warm nights. The breakfast each mornings was delicious and they allowed you to tailor your selections which was nice. Such a lovely couple and really made us feel welcome and appreciated! I would definitely stay here again and can not recommend this hotel enough for the views, the comfort, the breakfast and the location!

Stayed 2 nights at The Miclaran as part of a family gathering. Sue & Alan are wonderful hosts and nothing is too much trouble when it comes to their guests needs. The whole property is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The freshly cooked breakfast really hits the spot, always served hot, you could have not ask for anything more, lots of choice.
The outlook from the garden is amazing, a full sea view and so quiet. We would return without hesitation.
I would recommend booking directly and not using a booking platform, Sue and Alan offer such a personal service which you do not receive when using websites.
Thank you both for such a lovely weekend, you helped build more happy memories for our family

We had an amazing stay at The Miclaran. Thanks to Alan and Sue who ensured that we had a safe and comfortable stay during this unprecedented times. I would like to summarise our experience as follows:
1. Rooms are extremely clean and well maintained. Do ensure that you book a room with a view to get stunning views of the sea.
2. Breakfast was served on time. There is enough variety to choose from.
3. Alan and Sue can give you amazing tips if you are planning to explore the island. This could be best places to eat and visit.
4. We were given two island bus key cards as a complimentary gift which we used to travel around the island for 2 days. This was such a kind gesture and we are extremely thankful to Alan and Sue.
5. Right behind Miclaran is the coastal path that can take you all the way till Sandown. Hence another bonus for location as well.
Overall I recommend this incredible stay to anyone who is planning to visit the island.

Lovely and clean, breakfast very good. Lovely garden, which we didn't get to use. We were there for the festival. Quite a bus ride into Newport (about 1 hour ) to then pick up festival shuttle (another 40 mins )Only downside was no WiFi in room 11. Quite an important factor for most.

Fantastic. Very clean, great sea view, wonderful breakfast, friendly atmosphere, very comfortable lounge area and within walking distance of Old Shanklin and the amazing Chine. The Coastal Path also passes the end of the garden so it was great for walking too. Alan and Sue were wonderful hosts. We plan to return again.
