Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely place alongside coastal path between Sandown and Shanklin. Would never tire of the view out to sea across the well cared for garden. Hosts are welcoming and friendly snd clearly take pride in what they do. 100% happy to recommend.

My first visit to IOW and wasn't disappointed. We stayed at The Miclaren and were so happy with our choice. We stayed in the king seaview room. A stunning seaview overlooking the very well maintained garden that we were able to use! From start to finish nothing was too much trouble for Alan & Sue. We had a lovely welcome from Sue, who showed us around the premises and explained how to reach various parts of Shanklin. The breakfast was amazing, well presented and plenty of choice, that could be altered to suit. I loved our little chats each morning with Alan at breakfast, so informative and can tell you anything you need to know about IOW. The guest house is immaculate and very well maintained and I am certain we will be returning, and have already and will continue to recommend. Sue even helped us book our ferry crossing so I would encourage you to book direct to get that personal service too. Thank you Alan & Sue for a lovely stay, we loved IOW and The Miclaren.

Fantastic. Very clean, great sea view, wonderful breakfast, friendly atmosphere, very comfortable lounge area and within walking distance of Old Shanklin and the amazing Chine. The Coastal Path also passes the end of the garden so it was great for walking too. Alan and Sue were wonderful hosts. We plan to return again.

Stayed 2 nights at The Miclaran as part of a family gathering. Sue & Alan are wonderful hosts and nothing is too much trouble when it comes to their guests needs. The whole property is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The freshly cooked breakfast really hits the spot, always served hot, you could have not ask for anything more, lots of choice. The outlook from the garden is amazing, a full sea view and so quiet. We would return without hesitation. I would recommend booking directly and not using a booking platform, Sue and Alan offer such a personal service which you do not receive when using websites. Thank you both for such a lovely weekend, you helped build more happy memories for our family

We had a lovely stay at the Miclaren, She and Alan our hosts were really friendly, the accommodation was very clean and well maintained. There is a guest lounge area, and a fridge for guests to use. Breakfast was great. I can honestly say that this guest house is superb with a great location near to the town, with a wonderful garden, and a great sea view. Highly recommended.
