Channel View Hotel stands as a delightful choice for many, boasting a prime location near the beach with scenic views that guests often appreciate. The hotel's cleanliness and friendly service generally garner positive remarks, though some guests have suggested improvements in bathroom upkeep and noted occasional lapses in service. While the ambiance is described as charming and traditional, a few travelers feel an update is in order.
Room comfort is a high point, albeit some have pointed out dated decor. As for value, it receives mixed reviews, balancing affordability and complimentary breakfast against criticisms of food quality.

this was our second visit and decided to return here with the car this time because of the location and because it had had a refurb (so they say!)and it has a pool - however were slightly disappointed this time.
we had room 45 which was sea view which had had some new wallpaper but that was about it.! the carpets were very stained and the curtains did not fit the windows! fabulous large family room with a sew view however it really did need more attention.
The shower head was tiny and not very powerful and leaked and the room lay out could have been better along with more modern furniture they should have invested in. !
we were told the pool was open but they failed to tell us they have it closed at certain times for kids swimming lessons so everytime we came back from our day out the pool was not in use which we were disappointed about as a relaxing swim would have been nice.
Dont expect entertainment at this hotel as there was a singer one night from 8pm to 10pm and no bingo as promised on the wednesday and nothing on the thursday as the coach party they had in of elderly folk all went out to the theatre so they didnt bother to lay on anything for the people that did stay there! this hotel is more geared up for the over 70's so bear that in mind to if you are under 50 like us!
staff are very friendly and the breakfast we had everyday was very nice and efficient
we only booked BB but there was a dinner option if u wanted it but you have to pre order!
the location is perfect - right near the sandy beach and only a short walk down the slope to the beach and nice bars and restaurants.
if you take your car and notice a coach in the car park dont expect a car parking space - but if you are lucky you will get a space on the road and it is free to park.
we ate at the tai restaurant in shanklin (15 mins walk) one night which i can throroughly recommend and prego italian at east cowes before we came home which was also fab
we were out all day and visited godshill, brighstone, bembridge, ventnor shanklin and the blue wine vineyard however they were sold out! we also had a fab but expensive meal at the Hut which you must book for if you go

We stayed at the hotel for 8 nights on a B&B basis. The hotel is in an ideal location for touring the island and our room had amazing sea views. The hotel is kept immaculately clean throughout which is down to the housekeeping staff doing an amazing job as well as providing clean towels and replacement teas, coffees and biscuits in the rooms on a daily basis and fresh towels for use in the pool. The choice and quality of the food provided was excellent as was the service provided by the chef and the bar and waiting staff who were the most professional and politest young people we have ever come across during our travels. Finally the staff on reception are exceptional, in particular Jane who works tirelessly and who during our stay made us feel very welcome. She is truly a credit to the hotel and the company and is worthy of recognition for her efforts.

A warm friendly welcome awaits you at this hotel , the staff are very professional in their approach.
We stayed in room 50 which was equipped with a flat screen tv, toiletries and fluffy towels, we had a bath with shower which was all spotlessly clean.
The breakfast was really good, full English cooked very nicely, the sausage was great.
I would have no hesitation In recommending this hotel as somewhere to lay a weary head .
We will return.

My first visit to the Channel View Hotel as part of a coach party, I was impressed by the whole package that the hotel offered. I found it to be clean with comfortable beds and soft pillows. My en suite room with TV was spacious with a partial sea view, quiet, cleaned each day with refreshments replenished. I enjoyed the breakfast menu which had a good selection of food on offer and friendly staff serving, nothing to much trouble. The evening menu offered 3 choices of starter, main and dessert, always a good selection to choose from. The reception staff were helpful and the hotel was efficiently run, I’m intending to return given the opportunity.

The room was small but pretty good with a nice view. The room with two chairs but only one suitcase holder - no place for second suitcase except on floor. The hotel had creaky floors. We could hear people walking overhead. The bathroom needs some scrubbing of the walls, shower, and tub. The breakfast was mediocre – no yogurt, no granola, and not much choice of fruit (only grapefruit or prunes). The hotel was quiet outside.

The pillows were awful need replacing wouldn't have gone if I'd known but took notice of other reviews none of which I recognised. The meals were pretty dire porage was a solid block needed a knife and fork. Continental breakfast was a slice of cheese out of a packet and slice of cheap ham and a croissant which was raw in the middle served on a warm plate. Cold poached eggs on hot toast. Not one decent meal. Stay

Just returned from a visit to the Isle of Wight, after a five night stay. The staff were very helpful on arrival and friendly, a cuppa was on offer and gratefully received after the journey, our luggage was taken to the room and left outside the door, after a talk by the management we went to the room it was very spacious and clean, with nice sea views, and it had an electric heater on the wall. There are several flites of steps up to reception, and also a ramped walk way. The restaurant was very good with a good choice of food, and the waiting on staff were excellent, a well stocked bar was open each night with entertainment. All in all a great hotel.

Spent weekend 24th March to 27th The the hotel was full with our line dancing The hotel is very nice in good location Lovely to wake up to sea view. Bedroom was a good size, had every thing we needed. Good size dressing table with stool and mirror, and so good to have a light above the mirror. Bed was so comfy and spotless bedding. Bathroom stocked with toiletries and very impressed with all the space for our own products. The house keepers were very friendly Very impressed how all the food came out to a full dinning room. The staff were very attentive, nothing to much trouble. A credit to the hotel. Good choice for breakfast and dinner All staff are a great credit to the hotel Unfortunately for me, didn’t get time to use the pool. Will have to return

My daughter wanted to visit a friend in the IOW, I was reluctant to book anything too far in advance for obvious reasons but a quick web search 4 days out produced a twin room at the Channel View. Booked, paid for, arrived on Monday 19th to a friendly greeting, temperature taken, and directed to a first floor room.
The room was bigger than I expected, room and bathroom were spotlessly clean with complimentary toiletries, tea and coffee (replenished daily), comfortable beds- in fact anything you need for a short break.
We didn't use the facilities other than the room and breakfast (well, I did anyway, my teenage daughter preferring the extra time in bed...!), but there were plenty of breakfast options, accompanied by sufficient coffee to get me going for the day!
Fantastic location for the beach (but beware, it's uphill going back!), short walk (less than 10 mins) from the rail and bus stations, about 15 mins or so from the old village. Ample car parking should you require it.
Excellent value for money, polite and friendly staff, spotlessly clean, what more could you ask for?

Cannot fault the hotel. We went for 5 days bed breakfast and evening meal. The food was lovely, lots of choice and the staff were all so helpful and friendly, they couldn’t do enough for you. There was a heated pool which was immaculate and free to use from 7am to 7pm with towels provided. The room was comfortable and cleaned daily with everything we needed, tea and coffee etc Had a wonderful stay and hope to go back next year
