Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very comfortable and well appointed room (No.4). All food - breakfasts and the optional evening meal cooked and served to perfection. Good location for access to the railway station and the buses on the island. I've been visiting Hana & Steve for over 10 years now and Brooke House is as fresh, clean and welcoming as it was the very first time. You will be hard pressed to find anywhere on the island better to stay.

Absolutely loved our stay here! It was my first time in Isle of Wight and Hana made my experience so much more enjoyable! Great location, room was amazing! We had the beach hut inspired room and had a separate access through the door on the side which was great too! Room was spacious, lots of coat hangers, comfy bed and fresh towels everyday! Breakfast was perfect, couldn't fault it! You preorder the night before, but in the morning get a selection of cereals, fruits and yoghurts then get your cooked breakfast along with toast, we thoroughly enjoyed breakfast every morning! The room had a book which recommendations of restaurants around the area, along with bus routes, chemists, pharmacies etc. I honestly couldn't fault my time here, and when we do come back to Isle of Wight I will definitely be staying here again along with recommending Brooke House to everyone! Thanks for an amazing stay Hana!

Brooke House is ideally situated as it is close to the train and bus stations. The rooms are clean and airy and the breakfasts are excellent. Hana and Steve are excellent hosts. We would be happy to stay at Brooke House in the future. Several of the other guests regularly stay at Brooke House when they visit Shanklin.

After reading many positive reviews for Brooke House my friend and I decided to go ahead and book. We were not disappointed. We were greeted by Steve who was very friendly and welcoming, and Hannah who was also very friendly and showed us to our room. The room was lovely, spacious and spotless as was the rest of the hotel. The shower was great and the towels were large. Comfy beds and blackout curtains ensured a great nights sleep. Hannah was lovely and greeted us by our names and every morning we came down to a lovely cooked breakfast, there was also a good choice of cereal, juice and yogurt. We could have as much tea, coffee and toast as we wanted and nothing was ever too much trouble for Hannah. We had a wonderful stay here and will definitely be back. Highly recommended and within easy walking distance to the beach, shops bars and restaurants!

We had such an amazing week, if we could have given more than 5/5 we would. From check in to check out Hana and Steve were fantastic hosts, nothing was ever too much trouble for them, and every wish we had was catered for without an issue. The whole guest house from top to bottom is spotlessly clean and finished to a very good standard, including the rooms. A very large bed in the room just one of the many nice features, as well as a fridge in the room which meant we was able to keep snacks and fresh milk cold. The breakfast was amazing too cooked fresh every morning, options of a hot cooked breakfast along with a range of cereals and yogurts and juices, local marmalades on offer as well as a large choice of jams and spreads. We really can’t recommend them enough, we left very happy, and was the best place we have ever stayed in, and when back on the isle, we will not hesitate to book again. Thank you so much for a fantastic stay!

We were welcomed on arrival by Hana, who showed us to our room & ensured we knew everything there was to enjoy our stay. Our room was very spacious, very well furnished, decorated and cleaned to an impeccable high standard. Breakfast was ordered the night before via a slip & served in the dining room downstairs, which was presented well with continental options & fresh cooked food, brought to our table. An ironing board was made available for us on request. A nice touch was, we were always greeted by our first names, with one of us being gluten free and catered for especially. Always friendly, with nothing being too much trouble. Will definitely recommend & will return again!

We visited Brooke House for the 6th time this May. As previously found it represents excellent value. Bedrooms are large, well decorated and comfortable and include a fridge to keep drinks and other perishables fresh. It is located 5 minutes from the station and 10 minutes from the town centre. It is also 5 minutes from an off road cycle path which can be walked or followed to the 'Round the Island Cycle route' for the more experienced cyclist. The Island is a great place for cycling both on and off road. Hannah and Steve are helpful and friendly hosts and provide a good breakfast - and if needed an evening meal. There is also on site parking.
