An exceptional break. I would rate everything about the break as excellent; lovely room with a beautiful sea view, friendly, helpful staff and really good food. We stayed bed, breakfast and evening meal and I can certainly recommend full board. As it was a January break the weather was cold but the hotel offered family activities in the games room, in the pool or just relaxing in the bar with a view. Particular mention and deep thanks goes to Kathy who was so kind and compassionate with my daughter.

The Isle of Wight is a holiday destination predominantly for English holidaymakers and the clientele of Luccombe Hall is also almost exclusively English. You can tell by the menu, which capitalizes on English dishes. There is nothing wrong with that and what is on offer also mouths off, as continental Europeans you just have to come to terms with the fact that the seasoning is rather sparse and a salad sometimes comes without dressing. You can try steak and ale pie for that, really delicious, even if it doesn't look like it.
Luccombe Hall is beautifully situated on a cliff above Shanklin, a somewhat run-down holiday village with little charm but beautiful sunsets and rises on the nearby beach. The hotel itself is in good condition and offers spacious rooms with wonderful views. Especially worth mentioning is the huge fruit basket, which is free in the room. The house is family and dog friendly, which did not affect us as childless and dogless guests. Sure, in the two pools and in the dining room there is also child noise, but everything in the tolerable frame. The beautiful gardens with exotic plants are extensive anyway and offer various opportunities to linger, e.g. at a chess game.
Dinner has already been mentioned. Also correct is the breakfast with buffet and cooked breakfast, English hearty. Especially fine is the fresh fruit salad, which you should not necessarily expect in a mid-range hotel. Afternoon tea is also offered, we contented ourselves with cream tea, consisting of scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam. Some evenings there is musical entertainment, with more or less gifted solo entertainers. But they also finish work at 22:00 at the latest, after which you have peace.
The staff is friendly, some experienced people and numerous younger staff take care of guests. Another plus point is the hotel's own parking lot, as the car is the most practical for trips on the island.
Conclusion: Recommended for visitors to the Isle of Wight, with or without children and dogs.

We've just spent a week at Luccombe Hall Hotel and we couldn't fault the experience at all, all the staff were professional, polite, friendly, chatty and smiley, Cathy on reception gave us lots of tips, advice and recommendations for the local attractions and was always happy to chat if we were passing, and Charlotte the restaurant manager had a great sense of humour. We had a sea facing balcony room and it was fabulous. So nice to wake up in the morning and open the black out blinds and step out onto the balcony and take in the fantastic view of the immaculate gardens looking out to the sea. We spent our first morning in the hot tub, in the beautiful gardens, next to the pool, looking out to the sea - bliss! We had it all to ourselves and then a little sunbathe to dry off - perfect. Ideal location just a 10 minute walk to the seafront either through the Chine or the other way through the old village. The hotel gives you a 7 day free entry to the Chine so we used that lots and it's really pretty. There was free electric car charging in the car park so very happy about that for our electric car. Lovely cooked to order breakfast every morning if you want along with the usual help yourself cereals, fruit juice, croissants, toast, etc, and they bring the fresh tea and coffee directly to your table too, and hallelujah - nice big mug for your breakfast cuppa, not fiddly cups and saucers. Ate here 4 evenings out of 6 and the food was really good, 4 choices for starters and mains and always a vegetarian choice. Plenty of staff serving so not a long wait in between courses. We sat in the conservatory section of the restaurant and again it was lovely looking out to the sea at the passing boats and there was a set of binoculars if you wanted a closer look! Large spacious room with huge comfy bed, clean bathroom and good sized mini fridge with little bottle of fresh milk every day if you wanted a cuppa in your room and we bought a few snacks to put in there and it was big enough for that. Large balcony with full table and 4 chairs set so could eat out there if you wanted. Lots of wardrobe and drawer space and the chambermaid kept the room and bathroom really clean. Very dog friendly hotel and they had their own section of the restaurant to sit in with their owners which was cute. On our check out day we bumped into Steve one of the owners and he and my petrolhead husband had a good chat about cars! So very friendly and approachable. We wanted a week to chill, relax and destress and that's exactly what we got at Luccombe Hall and wouldn't hesitate to return here, which we're hoping to do soon.

We (6 of us, 3 couples) stayed for 3 nights at Luccombe Hall and had a great time.
We had rooms 12, 14 and 15 and certainly ours was very spacious. The bed was quite large and very comfortable.
The bathroom was also roomy although the shower pressure was a little weak. That was the only slight gripe we could find with the whole of our stay.
The breakfast choices were many and varied and cooked to order thus always hot and very tasty.
There is a lot of leisure space with comfortable chairs and a well stocked bar.
Also on two of the evenings we were there there was music in the bar area performed by Rosie on one night and Jules on the other. Both of them excellent musicians and vocalists and also lovely people. Sadly although the music wasn't loud or intrusive there didn't seem to be too much interest from many of the other guests. They missed a treat.
We also made use of the outdoor swimming pool which is heated to a very pleasant temperature. It is situated in the immaculately kept gardens and has a hot tub adjacent to it.
The gardens are a lovely feature of the hotel with plenty of seating for admiring the great views out to sea.
We only ate at the hotel one evening as we were out the other two but what we had was very good and the menu is changed daily.
You get a lot for your money at this hotel and probably best of all are the staff who are just the most lovely people.
We will certainly stay here again when we come to the island.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a wonderful 5 star review of your stay with your party of 6 at Luccombe Hall Hotel in our standard rooms. We will be upgrading the pipework in the original building in the coming weeks to install a fully pressurised system which will solve any issues with shower pressure and will match that of the other rooms in the hotel. It is great to hear you enjoyed the food, entertainment, wonderful views and leisure facilities. Your kind comments about the team here are very much appreciated and we all hope you may be able to return for another stay with us in the future.

We just needed a couple of days away, researched the hotel and it had good reviews. They were able to reserve a disable parking space for us, it is a small car park, but there is on the road parking, possibly limited in summer. We had a ground floor balcony room with lovely views over the gardens and ocean, lovely balcony furniture , room clean and comfy, including a small fridge. The room had a small clean shower room, adequate for our needs. Free toiletries were welcome.
Why there was a small dining table and one dining chair in the room we don't know ? TV on the wall , but limited channels. WIFI was a big issue, the hotel wifi kept loosing signal [very annoying].
Nice welcome tray with tea and coffee, fresh milk in the mini fridge.
Menus and food were varied and freshly cooked to order, not many staying when we was there, but full choice menu available.
I did use the indoor pool, very simple decor [a bit tired] but nice size pool, getting in and out was hard for me, they only have regular pool side bars. The jacuzzi had a loose hand rail, so getting in and out was hard [and dangerous] Reception can provide swim towels but I took my own.
Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, they were attentive and worked really hard. This was the prefect out of season visit.
The gardens are a delight, and well kept.
Ferry prices may prevent us coming back [even though the hotel got us a discount] Be sure to visit Quarr Abbey , it's utterly beautiful.
The ONLY reason I gave it 4 as a rating was WiFi, it is such an important element of where we stay.

Didn’t actually stay here on this occasion but called in for evening meal and to see the hotel in general.
Took our dog with us for the meal and was able to sit in the area that’s dog friendly. We would have to stay at the adjoining hotel Luccombe Manor as they take dogs but you can have evening meals at the Luccombe Hall.
Comfortable and nice table for the meal this was really nice and the staff very accommodating and friendly. Looking at now revisiting and staying at the Luccombe Manor as you can use the facilities next door.
Only gripe was hubby would have liked draft beer not bottle but hay ho on the whole lol
Checked out the sports area and indoor pool looked lovely.

Thank you for visiting us as a non-resident for evening dinner at Luccombe Hall Hotel. It is great to hear you loved the experience and would consider a stay with us in the future. We love dogs at Luccombe Manor and as you found, they are welcome to dine with us at Luccombe Hall just across the garden where our evening restaurant is located. We do hope we may be able to welcome you back as residents at some point in the future.

Fabulous week at Luccombe Hall, and fabulous weather but regardless of the weather this is most definitely a 5*+ hotel. The hotel is on a cliff top and our room looked out on to a spectacular view of the English Channel. All of the staff are first class, from the cleaner to the Chef. Ask Charlotte to make you a Mer Berry cocktail, delicious . The meals were good, breakfast had an amazing choice, we booked B,B & EM, we definitely wouldn’t wander looking for anywhere else to find your evening meal. Vegetarians are catered for as are Vegan, although from what we could tell this is a slightly reduced menu. The garden and pool area are very well tended, and the pool is heated, we had singer guitarist entertainment in the evenings. Only one complaint, of which the hotel is aware, the chairs on the balcony are fine for having a quick cup of coffee/tea but you wouldn’t want to sit on them for any length of time and you certainly couldn’t relax on them. Having said that I’m sure we will return, to the Isle of Wight and will definitely stay at Luccombe Hall.
One last thing…their sister hotel, Luccombe Manor, welcomes dogs and I mean welcome.

We stay for 3 night in room 3, double room with sea views. Overall it was a nice place to stay. Firstly the staff very welcoming, helpful and polite. Showed us around the building when checking in to get the feel for the place. The room was on the smallish side. Double bed takes up most of the room but this was okay. The bed it’s very comfy. Cleaning serve can be utilised everyday if needed. We had a large balcony with sea view that was very nice. The bathroom spotless and the overall cleanliness not only of our room but the hotel 6stars very clean! The shower the only downside as I was too tall (6ft) to fit under it and my partner thought the pressure was on the weak side. Mini fridge does make a little noise but we would take that over not having one at all to keep milk and other drinks cold. The tv could do with upgrading.
Some noise from our neighbours next door at number 4 a few times but largely was quiet.
The cooked Breakfast was very good, staff again polite and helpful. The Continental at a good standard some hard pastries looked to be reused the days before but overall 4/5 star. We didn’t have dinner included so can’t say on the front. The games room less said the better, very under welling. The pool okay to have as an option, we used once to try but didn’t feel the needed to use again but is just an option to use at the hotel. Lots of free parking .Overall I would give this place 4 out of 5 star.

We stayed at the Luccombe Hall Hotel for a night away with friends in February and had an amazing time. The staff at the hotel couldn't have been more helpful from the initial enquiry and booking through to check out. We did a DBB package with discounted ferry crossing which was excellent value for money. The sea view room we chose was excellent with a table and chairs on the balcony and despite it being February we were lucky with the weather so spent time out there. In room facilities included a small fridge and for once some decent sized mugs and a small bottle of milk plus a good range of toiletries. Location was excellent and whilst we ate at the hotel there were a few places we spotted only a short walk away including a pub and good quality Italian restaurant. The evening meal was very good quality with a good choice on the menu. We used the pool, spa and sauna and they have table tennis, pool table, air hockey etc for any wet days. Service was first class and we have already booked to go back with a group of friends in June.

Had a great 2 night stay, Kathy on reception was fantastic, very friendly and helpful. She looked after us during our stay. We had a ground floor room with a balcony over looking the pool and sea. Great room and view.
The room was clean and bright, my wife was impressed with the lighting in the room and bathroom, this is usually an issue with other hotels when putting on makeup.
Breakfast was very good, efficient table service and fantastic food.
We used the bar in the evening, there was live music which we enjoyed.
Thanks everyone at Luccombe Hall for making our short break so enjoyable. Hope to be back next year
