Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here for a week left the car parked and walked, caught buses to different places. Close to Shanklin beach and shops. Lovely place, breakfast very good, very clean, bedroom excellent. Hosts very friendly. Looking forward to our next visit.

I last visited the Isle of Wight back in 1976 and had mentioned for a while now that we should visit again, even if it was just to see what I could remember of the place being as I was only six years old at the time of my last visit. As the whole idea was based on a trip down memory lane we decided to go back to the Edgecliffe, the same place I stayed in 1976 but had no idea what to expect as we hadn’t read any reviews before booking but just felt it was the place we should stay. When arriving we were met at the front door by Dru and Mick where from this point it was obvious we had booked the right place as they were both very friendly and welcoming from the outset, and throughout our stay could see that all they wanted was for us to have a good time (they couldn’t do enough for you). As I have to work away at times I stay in many hotels in the UK and EU throughout the year and can honestly say in comparison the Edgecliffe is the perfect place if you want to stay in a relaxed, friendly, spotlessly clean, comfortable environment that is within easy walking distance of the beach, Shanklin village and old Shanklin. Not forgetting of course the amazing breakfast.... Initially we were only going to return as a one off visit, but as staying here was so pleasurable we will return to the Edgecliffe in the future.

Stay away from home for work often and I have never met better host's than dru and mick. Made you feel so comfortable nothing was to much trouble for them. I would go back and stay again in a heart beat in fact I'm contemplating going here again for pleasure instead of business its that nice.

My wife and I have been returning to the Edgecliffe for quite a few years now. We attend the scooter rally during August bank holiday weekend and the position at Shanklin is ideal. Drew and Mick make a fuss of us and every one who stays. Riding our own scooter we've our own space to park securely, tucked away. Breakfasts are brilliant, rooms are very clean. If you want the beach then it's very close. Thoroughly recommend it.

The Edgecliffe was in a fantastic location, a short walk from the beach and old village but out of the way of the commercial/busy promenade. Our hosts Dru and Mick were very accommodating and had many helpful suggestions on activities and places to go. Very welcoming and really made us feel at home. The room was very comfortable and impeccably clean. It was also fitted with all necessary amenities (TV, kettle, hair dryer), breakfast was delicious and made to order! Our hosts were also happy to store our bikes in the beautifully kept garden, which was very useful. Extremely happy and will be returning soon!

Me and my girlfriend had a wonderful stay with Dru and Mick, for the end of May bank holiday. They were incredibly friendly and helpful hosts. Pros: - Perfect hosts, made us feel welcome and at home - Tasty, well portioned cooked breakfast each morning - Clean and tidy room - Not too far from the Old Village and beach, however remains in a nice and quiet part of town Cons: - Can't think of any!

From the moment we arrived Dru and Mick made us feel so welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Our suitcases were carried up to our rooms, our wet clothes and umbrellas were dried out for us and Mick's breakfasts were generous, tasty and hot. Would highly recommend. Great value for the money.

My two sisters and I spent 2 nights at this excellent B&B last week. Everything was perfect from the very tasty breakfast to the clean and comfortable rooms. Dru and Mick made us feel incredibly welcome and we shall certainly consider coming back to the Edgecliffe when we return to the Island. We thoroughly recommend this B&B.
