Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Property's Favourite Review
What a beautiful place and stay. Rosemary and David are the perfect hosts, so welcoming, and the personal touch is certainly welcome. The rooms are spacious, clean and packed with treats including all the teas, coffee and biscuits. On our arrival Rosemary even greeted us with her homemade lemon drizzle which was delicious! The breakfasts are made to order by David who does an excellent full English and Eggs Benedict. I loved talking to the other guests at breakfast who have also been returning back here over the years. It is the perfect spot for a short or long break in the Isle of Wight.

This is a lovely place to stay, David and Rosemary couldn’t be more welcoming, the breakfasts cooked to order by David were great (loved the black pudding) and mostly locally sourced, and what a selection there was on the menu, really set you up for the day. Very grateful to Rosemary for saving us a lot of money by booking the ferry for us. The room was lovely and clean, beds made every day, bottles of water, and all the coffee and tea you could want and biscuits too, all replenished daily. Rosemary and David were very knowledgeable about places to visit, and the history, and also about the buses and trains. Also if like me you forgot to pack your book there are plenty to choose from in the lounge. Can’t recommend this establishment highly enough.

Lovely week in October We appreciate the Westbury Lodge very much (Our second time). Our hosts Rosemary & David are friendly and very helpful. From the moment we arrived they made us feel as home. In the good and relaxed atmosphere we had a wonderful time ! Parking place at the house. The guest house and bedrooms are beautifully appointed with nice little touches. The breakfasts were delicious prepared by David. The location of Westbury Lodge is perfect, just a short stroll into the village, beaches, restaurants and theater. We highly recommend staying here! We were lucky to come across this gem, The Westbury purely by chance scrolling through trip adviser, booking .com etc. We can only endorse what other guests have written, it’s beautifully clean, every amenity is catered for in the spacious room and en suite, complete with toiletries. It’s situation is ideal for the lift to the beach or a stroll down the winding lane. As has been mentioned in all reviews, our hosts were very welcoming and we were spoilt for choice at breakfast. Unlike some b and bs we’ ve stayed, there is a small outside seating in the garden as well as a conservatory for days when weather is not so kind. Even had tea coffee making in there and some games. The bonus was that Rosemary kindly booked our ferry crossing for us and even forgot to,charge us on the bill until we pointed it out. ! Thank you Rosemary and David.

We were so fortunate to choose Westbury Lodge for our short stay on the Isle of Wight. Perfect location in the lovely town of Shanklin, everything was in walking distance and the old town id very picturesque. Our room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable as with the lounge and conservatory. Rosemary and David are the perfect hosts, with David providing delicious breakfasts and Rosemary ensuring that all guests were made to feel very welcome and had everything they needed. A quality boutique hotel which we highly recommend. Thank you Rosemary and David for a wonderful stay and for also helping with ferry tickets. Our stay was perfect!

My husband and I spent a week here 17-24 September 2023. We chose Westbury Lodge because of its exemplary reviews on TripAdvisor, and we were not disappointed. From the start, Rosemary and David went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We were given Room 8 (first floor at the front), which was spotlessly clean and contained a very comfortable king-size bed (a good night's sleep every night). Breakfasts were served in the dining room every morning, with choices of cereal, cheeses and fruit to start, followed by virtually every combination of cooked breakfast you could wish for, all freshly cooked by David. I had requested a gluten-free vegetarian diet on booking, and this proved absolutely no problem - gluten-free cereal and bread were available, along with gluten-free vegetarian sausages and bacon. Special mention must also go to Trish, who served breakfast every day with a smile. The guest house is dog-friendly, so we had a variety of canine companions to get to know every day, which added to the general atmosphere of relaxation and fun. All in all, we cannot fault our stay in any way, and we shall definitely return to Westbury Lodge whenever we visit the Isle of Wight.
