What a beautiful place and stay. Rosemary and David are the perfect hosts, so welcoming, and the personal touch is certainly welcome. The rooms are spacious, clean and packed with treats including all the teas, coffee and biscuits. On our arrival Rosemary even greeted us with her homemade lemon drizzle which was delicious! The breakfasts are made to order by David who does an excellent full English and Eggs Benedict. I loved talking to the other guests at breakfast who have also been returning back here over the years. It is the perfect spot for a short or long break in the Isle of Wight.

What a fantastic break we have just had! The welcome from our hosts was lovely and their friendliness and attention to detail in ensuring we were cared for and had everything we needed was unfailing- without being overpowering. We really did feel like welcome guests.
Our room was very comfortable, fresh and clean with a luxurious 6 ft bed. We especially enjoyed the quality bedding, lovely fluffy white towels and White Company toiletries. There was no disturbance at night and we were very relaxed.
Breakfast is first rate, quality food, cooked and served with care and delivered piping hot. The choice of fresh fruit, cereals etc was good, we were spoilt for choice. Ample tea and coffee was made as required and we were not rushed.
The current guidelines re Covid 19 were carefully observed at all times and we felt very safe in our environment.
Shanklin was a good choice, the sea and extensive sandy beach within walking distance, plenty of walks along cliff paths and the esplanade and a variety of shops and dining choices. We found plenty to do even though some attractions are not opening for another week or so and in varied weather.
Thank you Rosemary and David, we are so grateful and wish you happiness and success.

I would highly recommend the Westbury Lodge, from the moment we arrived Rosemary and David made us extremely welcome. We arrived at 12.00hrs after a 5 hr journey, they provided complementary tea, fresh coffee and biscuits on their patio which was lovely. The arrangements for Covid 19 were outstanding and safety of their guests could not of been managed any better. Everywhere was spotless and had lots of nice touches, White Company toiletries, ceiling fan, black out curtains, quality bed and bedding, good quality tea and coffee in the room and they also had a fridge available for chilling our wine.
Their lodge is in an excellent location, 5mins walk to the beach and to the old town.
The breakfast is definitely one of the best we have ever had with fresh flowers on the table and cafetière coffee. There was an impressive menu, Rosemary made some home made compote which was amazing and all ingredients are locally sourced which was a nice touch.
We travelled to the Isle of Wight on our motorcycle, David went out of his way and suggested I park this in their private secured gated driveway. There is also good car parking facilities at the hotel.
Rosemary also recommended excellent restaurants which we ate in and were not disappointed.
I can 100% recommend this establishment, anyone who stays here will have a fantastic experience.
Our massive thanks to Rosemary and David, we will definitely be staying again 11/10 !!
Regards
Mark & Allison

I highly recommend visiting Westbury Lodge when staying at the Isle of Wight. Rosemary and David will work hard to make your stay fantastic. Rooms are lovely, parking is available for free, breakfast is excellent and unusually varied for a B&B. Westbury was taken over by the new hosts fairly recently, and you really gain a sense of their experience in the hospitality sector and professionalism when staying here. Make sure to ask Rosemary to assist when booking your ferry, as they have privileged access to concessionary rates which are offered as part of your stay. A 10/10 service and I’ll definitely be back again.
P.S: with respect to COVID - a number of hotels have conveniently ‘forgotten’ about the virus and have seemingly disregarded measures. Despite being an independent B&B, Rosemary and David make an admirable effort to fastidiously maintain a high standard of cleanliness and appropriate distancing, making the stay really comfortable for those who still appreciate the necessity of protective measures.

We had a second amazing experience at the Westbury, now under new management. Anyone who has visited previously will be delighted that the same high standards of cleanliness and service have been maintained with the addition of careful and thoughtful account taken of Covid restrictions. Rosemary and David give a very warm welcome. The hosts have spent the last few months getting to know the area really well and are a mine of information about places to visit, the best walks and anything else you may want to know. The breakfast menu is extensive and delicious, supports local enterprise and all dietary needs are catered for. We regularly used the comfortable lounge, conservatory and garden. The Hotel is within easy walking distance of the Old Town, bus station and (downhill) the Esplanade. We hope to return again next year to continue our exploration of a fascinating island with so much history and beauty.

We spent a lovely 5 days at the Westbury Lodge. The hosts, Rosemary and David are the perfect hosts and are more than happy to assist you in any which way they can. The breakfast was cooked to perfection by David with locally sourced produce and Rosemary is the perfect front of house host! Full credit must also go to housekeeping, the room was spotlessly clean, bright and airy with tea and coffee to hand, with more available in the guest lounge. The location is perfect with just a 5 minute walk to the beach, chine and Shanklin Old village and town centre. We were sad to leave and will definitely return. Highly recommend!

We've just checked out from a wonderful 5 night stay at Westbury Lodge b&b in Shanklin and can't recommend it highly enough.
Rosemary and David were the perfect hosts; friendly, attentive, and thoughtful.
The rooms were impeccably clean, warm, and comfortable. Tea, coffee, water, and biscuits replenished daily, and the room was also cleaned daily.
The breakfast had wide variety of delicious, locally sourced produce. All in all, an excellent stay with the best of hosts. Highly recommended. Thank you, Rosemary and David, for a wonderful stay.

You are in for a real treat if you book this fabulous hotel!
Absolutely fantastic hotel, from the welcome to the fluffiest large towels EVER!
Absolutely spotlessly clean, with bottled water and fans in the room to keep us hydrated and cool in the heatwave!
The breakfasts are outstanding cooked by David who was a top chef in London, and served with a huge smile from his wife Rosemary.
We booked just a few days before arriving, they only had a twin room available, but this was perfectly adequate for us.
They kindly allowed us to store our motorbike on their drive once we had checked out, and also store our bike gear in their lounge whilst we enjoyed our last day. They let us keep the key in case they were out. This is going above and beyond which not many places would do, so thank you both soooo much.
We will be back as we have fallen in love with the island.

My husband and I stayed at Westbury Lodge for 6 nights; we had room 1 which was immaculate. The ensuite bathroom was beautiful with all the little added extra and the softest towels ever. The breakfast was wonderful with fresh fruit, juice, yogurt and a cooked breakfast to follow! David is a former chef and his scrambled eggs are to die for! Rosemary was very helpful with advice and managed our ferry crossings for us, even changing the time of our departure. Both really are a lovely couple who can’t do enough for you.
There is parking at the lodge and everything is walking distance from Shanklin town to the beach.
The whole place was spotlessly clean and all Covid restrictions were in place.
