Central location with unobstructed views of the promenade and bay. The bar, restaurant and reception areas are well designed and provide an intimate and elegant atmosphere. Our room was spacious, well maintained with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was self service with a wide range of choices and well cooked. We dined every night at the Hotel. The menu was extensive with a good choice of wines. The quality of the food was excellent and beautifully presented, a real testament to the team of Chefs. The service was attentive and friendly. The pianist in the bar provided a relaxing atmosphere. Bar prices were fair and the staff very friendly. In conclusion, the The Empress is a friendly and extremely well managed Hotel. All staff went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable.…

The hotel is very comfortable and in a good location, just a shame it doesn't have it's own car park. We stayed in the penthouse which is well worth the money, for the extra space in the room with the sofa and the balcony and view. Breakfast is the usual continental and cooked choices, and were kept topped up and fresh. We ate every night in the piano bar which had a good selection of meal choices and is excellent value for money with the portion sizes. This was our second stay and was as enjoyable as our first and we are looking forward to returning in the future.

Our stay at the Empress Hotel Douglas prom, was very good. Very popular with coach parties of elderly visitors at this time of year. A homely hotel, with very good wholesome food. Cannot fault the service, wonderful helpful staff, expecially as my husband left his gilet the staff have taken the trouble to post this on to us in Scotland. Good evening entertainment in the piano bar. An extensive selection of Fynodere gin.

The hotel was lovely and clean, stayed in a sea view room, there was a fan in the wardrobe, which was handy as it was really warm the few days we were there. the staff very friendly, good choice for breakfast. We ate in the piano bar twice, the food was really good, my only complaint the piano player was very loud, couldn’t hold a conversation, but that’s our personal view. Free parking on the prom, if you are lucky you can park close to the hotel, you do need a parking disc for some of the short stay bays. This is our second stay here and would definitely stay again.

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff especially Hannah, Bettina, Elizabeth and Charlotte. Food was very good. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Perfect location for the bus and the horse drawn trams. A great holiday. Thank you very much. Loved it.

Friendly staff, nice and clean hotel, lovely food. It was a bit warm in our room but understandable with this spell of good weather. Entertainment was good in the evening 2/3 of the nights we were there, a very good pianist.

We have stayed at The Empress many times before and have already booked for 2024. This speaks volumes about how much we enjoy our stay. It was nice to see the hotel have had a make over since last year and the staff are as friendly and helpful as ever. If you book a front sea facing room beware this can be noisy with people sat drinking on the lawn below. The breakfast is buffet and I highly recommend you eat in the Brasserie restaurant at least once.

Don't get me wrong, the hotel staff were helpful and friendly on the whole and the food was excellent however, the hotel is tired, the rooms are small and their descriptions misleading. Some rooms should be advertised and sold as 'with restrictions' due to low beams, sloping floors or just generally tiny!. We were a party of 5 and i complained about my room and was moved. Another member of the party also complained about their room and were given the room we originally complained about!. The evening entertainment in the bar area on nights were pianists who also sang. It was too loud even though we were seated as far away from them as possible making it hard to conversate and I am sad to sad one of the vocalists was dreadful (out of tune and banging the keyboard instead of…

My son and I stayed at the Empress for 3 nights in August. I was running the Isle of Man half marathon. The hotel stay was very pleasant overall, rooms were clean and tidy, food was very good and so was the service. The hotel was very busy and the only negative from me was the bedroom was close to the kitchen extractor fan and therefore a smell of cooking in the room. Overall happy to return to the Empress again.
