Excellent quality hotel, really friendly staff, super clean rooms, and exceptional breakfast. I’ve stayed several times for work over the past few months and every stay has been flawless. I’ve been in several different rooms over the months and they are always spotless, beds / pillows are super comfortable, and if you’re front facing, a fantastic view of the sea. As it is an older hotel, the windows do let in a little sound, but nothing wrong with falling asleep to the sound of the waves crashing into the promenade. Location is excellent right at the top end of the promenade with many many bars and shops wirhin walking distance. Special mention to the restaurant owner who makes the best scrambled eggs on the planet (and the rest of the breakfast is excellent too)!

We had a fabulous stay at the Regency hotel with our 2 children and 2 friends to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday. It was clean, very warm and comfortable. The breakfast was good and the evening meal excellent, both for meat eaters and vegetarians. The staff were friendly, but in particular Kayden and Sally, who were wonderful. They were friendly, helpful, and it was a joy to be served by them both. The hotel is in a great location on the promenade and we had a seaview room which was really good. We loved the very quirky lift. We loved the Isle of Man, we went on a steam train to the seaside, an electric tram to the top of the mountain and a trike tour around the TT racetrack. There are some wonderful restaurants and in particular we liked Aura Indian and L’Experience (the hotel’s restaurant). The Gaiety Theatre is also worth a visit. We would love to return to the Isle of Man and would definitely stay at the Regency Hotel again.

We stayed here a couple days while exploring the Isle of Man. The hotel is simply charming. It is on the older side and located in a quiet area not too far from the Electric Train Station and the Horse and Carriage rides. It does have a lift but is small and narrow. The last time I saw anything like it was around 50 years ago in the apartment building my grandma lived in. Our room was comfortable. There were 2 good size windows that opened, since it did not have air conditioning. Off to the side was a nook area where there was a counter that could be used as a desk with a desk chair. A mini refrigerator was in the cabinet under the TV. The beds were comfortable, and it had a large bathroom that looked like it was recently remodeled. There is a restaurant there where we had breakfast one morning with a limited menu. In the evening we had dinner there. The restaurant name was Experience Restaurant and reservations are required. We ordered the chicken with dark mushroom sauce that was fantastic. There are some restaurants nearby but many of them, along with the shopping, are a distance away. You can walk it, but it will take some time, but it was not overwhelming. We purchased the Go Card which provided free transportation that could be used for the railroad, horse and carriage and buses. The bus stop was located outside the hotel, which was very convenient. The hotel did have a nice lobby with comfortable chairs and couches as well.

The hotel was not what we expected. The bedrooms were dark and outlook terrible but bathroom was bright and light. Breakfasts were not good - very dried up and often short of essential items like milk. Staff thought very friendly needed more help in their training [not their fault]. Also at breakfast tables weren’t cleared in time for other guests to get their breakfasts and they had to wait in the bar. Totally unacceptable. Made to feel we weren’t really needed at the hotel. But the saving grace was the extremely good dining experience [again if one could get a table]. Guests at the hotel were not guaranteed a table for dinner so consequently we were only able to eat there twice in the week unless we had a bar snack. Also not open everyday and not open for Sunday lunch . This should be openly shown on the website . I would not recommend this hotel except for dinner.

The Welcome was absolutely fantastic. We arrived at 9.30am & were so well received. We had coffee & toast & we were able to go to our sea view lovely spacious room. The hotel houses L’Experience where we dined at night & again on our last night. Our only disappointment was breakfast where the choice of cereals was very limited

A lovely hotel at the quiet end of the promenade. A wonderful place for a quiet weekend break for just the two of us. It was our wedding anniversary and it was a lovely place to spend it, with a wonderful meal at L’Experience. A very relaxing stay.

Overall this hotel is probably a 3.5 for us. It has a smart frontage and the lounge, bar and restaurant have character and are in keeping with Victorian-themed Douglas. Our room, a Luxury Sea View double was absolutely fine, but not really 'Luxury'. The room we were allocated on arrival wasn't quite what we imagined from the photo on the website (with a bay window and chairs to enjoy the view) but the receptionist offered us the room we expected, so we moved. There was plenty of storage in the room, everywhere was clean and the bed was comfortable enough, but a few things were disappointing e.g. the safe was antiquated and wouldn't work properly (we got some help but eventually gave up and didn't use it), the TV was pretty old (with a DVD player...really?) and the bathroom towels were small, thin (a few were fraying) and quite old. On the plus side, the wi-fi didn't drop out, we were given a bottle of still and sparkling water each day and tea and coffee supplies were topped up daily. We only had breakfast in the hotel one day as we thought £10 per person for the continental selection provided was not very interesting or particularly good value. (some muesli, bread, cheese, ham would have been nice). We preferred to stop for breakfast somewhere different mid-morning. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening but we did have bar snacks a few times. All the staff (including reception staff) were polite but not especially friendly or keen to engage in conversation. The impression was that the hotel was under-staffed (like many places). Location wise, the hotel is in a good position for the Electric Tramway and the Horse Drawn Trams and there is a bus stop right outside the hotel. A few general tips: we bought the weekly pass at the airport and used it on all the forms of transport over the island. The phone app shows you exactly where the buses are, so you know how long you will have to wait at the bus stop. Bus drivers are very helpful and friendly. We used our National Trust and English Heritage cards to gain free entrance to all the heritage sites.

Me and my partner enjoyed a 1 night stay at The Regency Hotel. We received an upgrade to the Presidential Suite thank you to the brilliant manager Tim who also provided us with a lovely warm welcome and ensured we were happy with everything. The Room was perfectly equipped with everything we needed and more, and was immaculate. We enjoyed an amazing meal in the the restaurant downstairs and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a trip to the Isle of Man with the 5 star treatment.
