The Trouville Hotel has garnered appreciation for its spotless rooms offering scenic sea views, though the space and style may not meet everyone's expectations. Its cleanliness is a consistent point of praise, with the housekeeping staff often receiving special mentions. Visitors enjoy the inviting atmosphere, accentuated by beautiful decorations.
While the hotel's food and beverage pricing is considered reasonable, some guests experienced issues with booking and service. The seafront location and efficient bus access are popular amenities, despite a small and frequently busy elevator.

Detailed Reviews
I stayed here with my wife and 15 year old daughter for a long weekend, on the first weekend the hotel was open after lockdown.
The location is great, overlooking the promenade and beach, near the pier and a short walk from the High Street.
We had a large, clean Family Room on the 2nd floor. Huge window with a stunning sea view, and we loved going to sleep to the gentle sound of the waves on the beach. No air-conditioning though, so the room gets quite warm in sunny weather. The road outside is not too busy so we could leave the windows open most of the time.
The family room had a double bed and a proper single bed (not just a fold-up), which pleased my daughter, and there were plenty of towels and toiletries.
We had booked half board, but the hotel phoned us a couple of weeks before to apologise that dinner would not be possible on the first 2 nights due to lack of bookings as they were just reopening. We were offered the choice of cancelling or rebooking but we chose to keep the booking and got a partial refund. It was no problem finding places nearby to eat.
The hotel breakfast was good and freshly cooked, and the dinner we had at the hotel on the final night was excellent, so the half board option seemed good value.
Nice bar, stays open until 11, with friendly and helpful staff, as indeed were all the hotel staff.
All in all, an enjoyable weekend in a very good hotel in one of our favourite resorts. Definitely recommended.

Visited in September with G-Line Holidays from Lytham St Annes. I was unsure how the holiday would turn out because of Covid19 restrictions but was reassured by G-Line that the hotel were prepared. Our room, on the 3rd floor, was clean and comfortable with a lovely view of the coast and pier. It was suggested to us on arrival that we only request our room to be serviced otherwise staff would not enter which worked well. Dining was by waiter service only at 8:30am and 6:30pm which is typical for a 3star hotel but the food and service was very good. There was 2 nights of 'entertainment' where there was a single male singer but dancing and singing along is not allowed and seating is spaced accordingly. The bar is reasonable, there is free wi-fi, hand sanitizers aplenty around the hotel and all the staff are pleasant.

The staff were very helpful and professional, even though my first booking had to be cancelled because of COVID, they were really good with communications and making a rebooking for me.
The hotel is clean, modern looking (although it is an old building), well maintained and comfortable. Our room was really nice and looked onto the seafront.
We had the window open the first night, so we could hear the sound of the waves - I liked this, but it did wake me a bit so the second night we shut the window and I slept like a baby!
The sheets and towels had a lovely clean smell about them - not sure where they get their laundry done, but I wish more hotels did so as I often wonder whether I'm sleeping in freshly laundered bedding in other places....
Location is great, the pier is just across the road and the town just behind. We walked the coastal path to Shanklin which took about 50 minutes, and if the weather is good, that's definately the thing to do if you can.
The Beach Cafe is perfect for any skipped meals, and it's just on the corner.
My only gripe which stops me awarding a 5 is that I thought the breakfast was a bit of a letdown. Juice tasted watered down, the full english was a bit insubstantial (one of everything), my husband had kippers one morning and it was literally a kipper on a plate......no jam bought with the toast.....just little things, but if they improved the breakfast experience, it would have made things an awful lot better.
COVID is being dealt with, of course, and there are allowances to be made for this (normally it would be help yourself buffet), but I did feel that none of the above could be put down to COVID measures.
Anyway, I would still stay at this hotel again as we were overall very happy with our stay, our room and the hotel in general.

The hotel caters for coach tours at the expense of individual travels and from the moment of arriving this became very apparent. There was no flexibility on check in time even though room ready and had to wait in the lounge along with other individual guests until after 3.00pm. Requested a low floor sea view but were given a family room on the fourth floor which had not been updated especially the bathroom with hardly any water came out of shower due to low pressure and was barely warm. The bathroom certainly did not mirror the modern bathroom photos on website. Asked for a lower floor but where told the were no rooms available as fully booked with coach parties who obviously get allocated the better rooms. The lift on arrival was not working so had to struggle up to fourth floor with cases which being pensioners nearly killed use . Breakfast again was not flexible on times and we had to be fitted in around the coach parties breakfast times and even then we were given the wrong time slot and were told to come back later. In regards to the Covid measures in place in the hotel these were not being adhered too as most guests were walking around with no masks or if they had a mask on them it was not being worn and just being carried around. In respect of social distancing in the bar area, whilst it was table service only, guests thought they could push themselves onto spare seats at tables without any consideration for the rules. Again cleaning of tables in bar area between customers was none existent apart from one night so perhaps someone had complained. Having paid a lot of money to stay at this hotel I feel that the hotel needs to be more flexible in its treatment of individual guests. Could not wait to leave.

Response from Jeanette Barclay-Jay, Other at Trouville Hotel
Responded 2 Jul 2021
Thank you for your review. It is very disappointing for us that you did not enjoy your stay. There are many restrictions in place for hospitality at the moment and our staff are all working their very best to adhere to the rules but still provide high quality service. We do dispute your accusation that coach parties are given preference at the hotel. This is simply not true. The complaints you make about waiting for check in and not being flexible in the restaurant are all a result of covid-19 regulations and how we have to operate to adhere to them. We cannot be held responsible for how individuals act, but the hotel does remind all guests of the current guidance on arrival. Since we have reopened we have had hundreds of guests stay with us, and for the most part we have found people understand the difficult environment we are having to operate in.

From the moment we arrived on our coach we were greeted with tea/coffee. The bags were taken our room. An excellent central room with full sea views. Staff are friendly and polite. The 1way system works well, with hand sanitizer well positioned all over the hotel in these current conditions. Food is of top quality, with plenty of choice for all. The hotel is of top quality and the staff ensure everything meets your satisfaction. This is a tough time for all, so don't be afraid to give them a chance , you won't be disappointed.

We stayed at the Trouville for the very first time from 11/7/2022 to 15/7/2022. We travelled with Whittles Coaches. The hotel is perfectly situated on the front near the pier. Our room was twin bedded with en suite walk in shower. The room was spacious, with tea and coffee making facilities and full sea view. As the sun was on the room all day, it was extremely hot. We asked at reception for 2 sheets as duvets were too hot.We were never issued with sheets although we asked twice. Our window didn't open fully again we asked reception to look into it but nothing was done so we didn't sleep very well. We were in room 214. Looking up from the promenade our room seemed the only one where small side windows would not open properly. The room was very clean. At check in we asked for a table for 2, my husband is blind and table sharing is not an option. Laura the dining room manageress was very helpful, she re arranged the tables to suit us and we are very grateful to her. Everyone has to share either with 2 others or 4 others. But the star of the dining room was Sharon who served us during our stay. She did everything in her power to make things easier for us. She was at ease with serving a blind guest and it showed. We would like her to know that she made our stay memorable and enjoyable. We are very grateful to Sharon, she is extremely good at her job and an asset to the Trouville hotel. The food was very good, always served piping hot and nicely cooked. We would return to the Trouville hotel outside heatwave weather.

We went for a long weekend, Thursday afternoon to Monday morning. Checking in is rather stressful; one has to wait for a space outside the door, unship one's luggage and queue to check in. A parking space will be awarded, either in the main car park or the overflow car park. A slight glitch for us here; we missed the last main car park space and the overflow one was not open; we had to wait until the owners came to unlock it. While the car was being parked I went up to our room.
The rooms are kept very clean and the beds are comfortable. There are the usual tea and coffee making facilities and of course a television.
Our stay included breakfast, a buffet lunch and a three-course evening dinner. The menu for dinner varied each evening and there was a good choice. The ten members of our bridge club bagged a table and reserved it for future meals. We were well looked after by our good-natured and endlessly patient waiter Marek.
Sunday was different. We had a roast at lunchtime and a two-course meal in the evening. I did not eat the evening meal as I was not feeling well. I went upstairs after lunch and got into bed and slept.
One can get a bus timetable from reception; this must be returned before checkout. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I would recommend the Trouville.

We stayed here for two nights, located on the sea front it enjoys wonderful sea views. There was a little confusion on check in as they didn’t, at first, know that we had paid in full in advance. Our room was very comfortable and well equipped. En-suite bathroom included a walk in shower. There was no air-conditioning, but a desk fan was provided. The hotel is clearly very popular with coach tours for the over 60s and the dining room did get very busy at times; however the level of service remained very good and they always reserved a table for us. There are other dining options close by. Entertainment in the evenings was normally a single singer with pre-recorded backing music mostly singing songs from the 60s to 90s to a high standard. Parking was in a locked compound about 5 minutes walk way and cost £3 per day. All staff were friendly and helpful. We would happily stay again.

We had a twin, sea facing room on the second floor which was clean and comfortable with free wi if. The hotel coped well with the Covid restrictions and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Marek, our waiter in the restaurant, was very efficient and calm even when under pressure. There was a good choice of food which was well cooked and tasty.
Servicing of the rooms was on request which, I thought, was an excellent idea and should be considered even after Covid restrictions are lifted.
The entertainment was variable and there was no dancing allowed which meant there wasn’t much atmosphere which was a shame.

Arrived at our hotel and was checked in very quickly. Thought the receptionist was a bit short with me when I asked a question about parking. We bought a permit for our stay as find a parking space was getting a bit tricky and was just going round and round for a good 20 minutes due to road works and road closures. Room had a good sea view and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The room was serviced well and the staff that cleaned the room was very friendly. The bar area was very nice and comfortable to sit in with plenty of space. The food in the restaurant was acceptable and we sat with other people which was a good idea so everyone got to meet someone new and had interesting conversations. The reason for going to Isle of Wight was to go to the Soul Weekender which was a disappointment to be honest. It was not the kind of music we were expecting as they played 99% of music we had never heard of. They played one motown song which a lot of people got up for and then all sat down when the song finished. They seemed to play a lot of B sides vinyls and looked like they were in competition with other DJ's to see who can play the most obscure records. Not to our taste and thought we would be listening to more motown like Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Amy Whinehouse, Commordores and the list goes on. So won't be attending anymore Soul Weekenders here but may return to the hotel just for the sea view.
