Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Have just spent an amazing few days at this lovely hotel. The staff have been great, Reception, Entertainments, Room cleaners, Bar staff and Restaurant staff. (Sorry if I have forgotten anyone) Have been so friendly, helpful and patient. Nothing was too much trouble. The whole hotel, bedrooms, restaurant, bar, dining room and toilets were spotless. The food was delicious with a good range of choice for every meal. An added bonus is that the bus stops are near the hotel. My first visit but I will certainly come again. Thank you all.

Been to The Trouville on many occasions over the last few years for Linedancing weekends, and it's never disappointed. In fact we have booked again for October next year It's position right on the seafront is great, and all double rooms overlook the sea (as far as I am aware). The food has always been good, and the staff pleasant and efficient. In fact the staff could not do enough for us. Its nice that our double room had 2 chairs as most hotels only suppy 1, so one person has to stand or sit on the bed. Only negatives are parking, which is not overly convenient, only one small lift, and the area is a bit run down with empty buildings along the seafront Overall, though, I highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed at this venue as part of a coach holiday. On entering this hotel all the downstairs rooms I.e dining room, lounge bar, ballroom are beautifully appointed. There is only one lift that holds 4 people can be a bit slow at busy times. Our room was clean and functional however it was very dated and quite small but a stunning Seaview.plenty of hot water basic tea tray. The food is hit and miss. Breakfast is OK but small portions. Evening meal well what to say some very strange options and limited vegetable choice and not that well cooked pretty rubbish really. Bar prices are very reasonable I didn't mind paying by card saved carrying cash. Staff!! well maid service very good, waitress service very good apart from one French guy who's a conceited egotist. Reception leave something to be desired not interested in dealing with problems. Not hotels fault but Sandown is a let down to say the least not worth visiting

stayed 4 nights on a coach trip. hotel itself is very nice, clean, plenty of room in lounges, dining room very full but there were 4 coaches staying while we were there. Welcome chat went on a bit too long. No cash taken over the bar, either charge to your room card or pay by debit card.Staff: met one lady in reception a few times who never smiled but the rest of the staff are very hard working and always cheerful, special mention to Ian and Amy, both brilliant. Breakfast nice but evening meals not always to our liking. Steamed cabbage which didn't taste at all nice, very dry and hot. courgettes provencale, some may like but we didn't, swede and sweet potato mix which looked and tasted as if it had been pureed. pork loin one evening with mushroom and garlic sauce, would be nice to have had an option of ordinary gravy with this, very dry without the sauce which was not for us. Can't comment on dessert, didn't try them. Please Trouville either sharpen your dinner knives or invest in new ones. very blunt. Now, our room,213, nice size, plenty of storage. like a sauna when we went in but it was in the middle of a heatwave and a fan was provided. Only three plug sockets in the room and all on the other side of the room from the beds. Another reviewer mentioned the mattress, well the one on double bed in 213 definitely needs changing, springs sticking up in a few places, very uncomfortable. didn't sleep well at all. As said, a nice hotel but a few improvements would make it a lot nicer.

This is the worst hotel for sleeping stayed here last week for 6 nts the mattresses are worst iv ever sleept in servere pain in my back no proper sleep had a look at mattress & they was very cheap no proper comfort fabric very thin the metal frame you felt when you sat on bed cutting in to my back & legs the cost of my trip for 2 pensioners was over a £1.000 the breakfast fasts wasn't that good the one window didn't open fully so it was like a sauna in room as they have large windows it should be a 2 star as the beds are rubbish evening meals was good I wouldn't go to that hotel again & there are 2 lots of steps into hotel not very disabled friendly they do have a ramp at side of hotel but very high gradiant but sandown town is high on a hill so I was disappointed but the low is beautiful its all hilly except main big town Newport when you paid what I paid they should make sure the beds are to of good quality

Response from Trouville Hotel, General Manager at Trouville Hotel
Responded 2 Sept 2023
Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. We are disappointed you did not rate the hotel. We absolutley do not have cheap mattress' they are proper hotel quality and replaced regulary. The windows do open fully but you proberly did not notice the safety catch that restricts the opening to safeguard children, had you asked we would have assited with this. We make no secret we are not suitable for those with mobility issues which means they cannot walk unaided or manage a few steps, it is very much up to the guests booking the hotel and tour operaters to make sure we are suitable for their needs.

We stayed at the Trouville on a 6 day trip, when we arrived we was given a hot drink but was made to wait 20-30 mins before we were given our room, so we could be told about the hotel procedures in the event of a fire, then we was given our rooms nice rooms. also clean and tidy throughout the hotel, and good quality food but whilst you was there if you wanted to drink at the hotel you was given a Room account.

Wanted to visit Isle of Wight one time. Went with a Barnes coach tour of 1 week. The hotel is rated 3 star and MUST be a high end 3 star. People great and service unbelievable. IOW rely on tourism and the whole outlook of hotel staff great. 3 star should be 4, comfortable rooms, mostly sea view ( brilliant), good pricing, service GREAT as is food.
