We stayed here for a night after spending a week travelling round Scotland with my fiance, 4yo son and my parents. Check in was simple and the owners, Des and Sinead were very friendly and welcoming.

The room was clean, well equipped and the beds were very comfortable. Downstairs there is a bar area which is a great wee touch, you can leave your own drinks in the fridge and come and go as you please which is a nice area for relaxing after a day exploring all the area has to offer.

We didn't eat here but Des was very helpful in assisting us to find somewhere to eat, he even provided a menu for somewhere to get dinner. He told our son if he ate all his dinner he would offer him some ice cream upon our return which he did and was very much appreciated. We sat in the bar area for a few drinks after dinner and were offered apple and pear crumble which came in a huge portion and was delicious and hot from the oven.

The resident dog, Timmy was a big hit for our son and the owners allowed him to give Timmy a treat. This made our little boy's holiday and he is still asking when we can go back to visit the dog.

Nothing was too much trouble and we felt very welcomed and looked after in the Osprey. Both Des and Sinead were so attentive and made time to chat.

Breakfast was delicious and was served in the dining room which is beautifully decorated and spacious. Everything was cooked fresh and we were offered more toast, coffee etc.

We would love to stay here again the next time we are in the area. It is clear the owners put a lot of care into what they do and it shows. If you are looking for a home away from home, book the Osprey.

We booked The Osprey as we needed somewhere to stay as a stop over on the way to a family wedding. It is in a great location with the local shops, park, pubs very close. It’s also a short walk to the river which the kids loved as they could have a paddle. Des and sinead were so welcoming , they offered the kids ice cream and we were offered a drink on arrival. There is also a fridge that you can use in the communal bar area which was very useful. We had the family room, the room was spotless and beds were really comfy. The breakfast the next day was lovely with the smell of fresh coffee hitting your nose as soon as you opened your bedroom door, amazing!! We loved our stay here and will definitely visit again if we are in the area.

Just back from a lovely two night stay at the Osprey hotel in Kingussie! While we did not have or dog with us we thoroughly enjoyed meeting the owners’ dog Timmy!Des and Sinead who own this hotel could not have been more welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. They took our bikes in to keep them secure, they helped dry our wet swim gear and the room was ready early too. It was a really laid back, warm friendly atmosphere with good chat and an excellent cooked breakfast. I would definitely stay here again - the kids, now teenagers, also loved it and would recommend it. The location is great in Kingussie with quick access to Aviemore 12 min drive away and all amenities. Beds were nice and comfy too!

Thanks for a great stay!
Helen

My father and I spent an extended weekend here. If we had been able to stay for longer we absolutely would have! We each brought a dog with us, who were welcomed ever so warmly - as were we! I've never been quite so looked after. Sinead and Des were attentive to the utmost, genuinely caring and looking after our needs and wants, offering to cook us whatever we wanted. The hotel was incredibly clean in all the areas.

Dogs:
Their small dog, Timmy, was an absolute delight, welcoming both us and our dogs, even when they were a bit impolite with occasional barks at Timmy. Des and Sinead completely understood dogs being dogs. Their care and attention genuinely helped improve our dog's behaviour, while also being horribly spoilt - neither wanted to leave! I wouldn't hesitate to visit with any pets. They are loved and understood at the Osprey Hotel!

We all had an absolutely lovely time together, in beautiful surroundings with amazing company all around. Thank you very much Sinead, Des and Timmy for an unforgettable time.

Together with my sister and brother in law, I spent the final night of our Highland holiday at this delightful hotel and what a truly wonderful time we had.

The new owners of 'The Osprey', Des and Sinead, deserve all the success that they will undoubtedly achieve. Their welcome was truly heartwarming and, within a very short time of meeting, we were all like old friends having a reunion.

My room (6) was spacious with lots of hanging space and very well heated by a wall heater. The toilet and shower facilities were perfect for me and, by goodness the bed was comfortable.

Sinead cooked a lovely evening meal for us all and the compliments were flowing - quickly followed by a few! drinks.

A great evening's conversation followed - no television, a true holiday indeed!!!

Morning and the train back to Yorkshire definitely came too quickly but a lovely breakfast was a great send off for us.

We all repeat our gratitude to Des and Sinead, together with our promises that we'll be back as soon as we can arrange it.

For us it was 5*+++++

We stayed here for our last night of 12 day trip around North Scotland. Choose here as it was close to the wildlife park. The B&B was lovely. the couple that own it were amazing so friendly and helpful. When we were showed to our room it was clean and all the linen smelt so fresh. Shower was decent. Mattress and pillows lovely and comfy. Has a bar area where they are happy for you to have drinks in which was nice. Although breakfast isn’t included in the price of your room it is well worth the little bit extra cost wise as this was super fresh and extremely tasty. Sets you up for the day. They do also offer making packed lunches to take with you on your trips out. We didn’t want to leave this b&b probably one of the best b&b’s we have stayed in ever!

Must admit thoughts of three days in the Highlands didn't appeal to me as I like heat heat heat but I enjoyed this short break.the owner couldn't accommodate us enough and we left promising to revisit des and Sinead again. My son his wife and son made the most of the surrounding fantastic area but I just admit that I spent most of my time in the hotel where I was treated better than at home. The meals were really good wholesome food which was exactly to my taste and good size portions. The rooms were more than adequate and lovely and warm.the family atmosphere was very relaxing. My family enjoyed their short trips out and saw fantastic sights while I really enjoyed the comfort of the hotel. After a long illness I just wished to relax. I was going to spend the time in my room but Des suggested staying in the lounge where I was inundated with tea coffee and snacks must admit I did sample a couple of shots of whiskey as a nightcap. I would recommend this hotel to families, business people or couples ok n a romantic visit. It really did tick all my boxes. I will definitely be visiting again.

Upon our arrival chef/owner, Des popped out of the kitchen, introduced himself, inquired our names (remembering all 3 of us) and insisted on taking our bags to our room. Des showed us where we could park, insisted that we use the bar fridge and directed us around the town. Hotel co-owner, Sinead greeted us just as warmly. They brought out the flat screen so that we and the other guests could watch the World Cup Scotland vs. Ukraine. We shared a few pints, and a few tales. Breakfast we ordered the night before was cooked and served by Sinead; the portions were generous and cooked perfectly. You will be hard pressed to find a better Scottish breakfast. The Osprey has been recently and tastefully refurbished, the beds are the best that I have slept on during my travel in years. I have been in hospitality business for over a decades, a restaurant owner, former chef at the Waldorf=Astoria, and other fine establishments in NYC and abroad. Des and Sinead are wonderful, genuinely warm and gracious proprietors and hosts. I (my family) look forward to returning to Scotland again very soon if only to stay at the Osprey Hotel to enjoy some more great food and good times. These people treat you right and will easily exceed your expectations. Thank you both and see you soon.

Stayed here for 1 night after visiting the Highland wildlife park. The owners Sinead and Des are the friendliest hosts we have ever stayed with nothing was a problem. The family room had a double bed and single bed. The beds were so comfy. There is a bar area where you bring you own beverages but can use the fridge and glasses if required which was nice as you didn't need to sit in your room. Des said he was cooking that night and gave us a choice of his cooking or we could bring stuff in from the chipshop. We decided to take Des up on his cooking so glad we did as the food was excellent. The breakfast was extra but well worth it as the ingredients were fresh, good quality and cooked to perfection. We loved it so much that before we left we booked to come back. Would totally recommend and we can't wait to come back.
