Stayed here for one night B&B with evening meal. We had booked using a voucher which entitled us to one of the basic double rooms. We were allocated a much bigger room as Paul said they were having water pressure problems in the other one. However, he did point out that they had still to renovate the larger room. It was fine. Meals were good, although evening meal choice was limited. We were the only couple eating in that night so we were overly attended to! Safety measures on seating and movement around hotel are all in place. While we didn't have any requests during our brief stay Paul was very accommodating to a couple who wanted to eat outside as they had a new dog they couldn't leave in the room. There is a nice small garden and pathway at the back of the house which cuts off a corner and leads to an easy walk to the attractions in Ilfracombe.…
My husband and I stayed at the Darnley for 2 nights. The hotel has lots of character and everything was very clean. Lorindas full english breakfast with locally sourced ingredients was delicious. Paul was always on hand with advice on where to visit and where to eat out. Overall a great experience. We would definitely go back 😊
Clean room, comfortable bed, good size room. Great location, great features of hotel. When it come to tea/coffee facilities in the room when we asked for more, lorinda said sorry can not give you anymore for what I am charging you and paul said there is a coop round the corner to buy some on our first night after been traveling all day (6 hour plus drive) being pregnant and 1 cup of tea or coffee which I think is a joke. Brought my own tea bag, sugar and milk from lidil and come to less than £3, but I don't think when staying at a hotel you should have to purchase your own facilities when you are paying for a service. Breakfast OK, but had out of date cereal and sauces so I would double check when you have this, I mentioned it to Paul and it was sorry won't happen again and excuse of why this happened but it happened to a few tables at breakfast. I think Paul gets flustered when it comes to breakfast orders and with running the hotel. To be fair I don't think its the right job for the lorinda's as I don't think she can take any criticism from the business, as when you have said something she will ignore you and not acknowledge you, find her very rude. To be fair it done us for 2 night stay, during the times of 2020, but I wouldnt be staying again nor would I recommend. Clean room, comfortable bed, good size room. Great staff, food was brilliant we were well catered for, we loved the decor and the freshly decorated rooms, they even gave us a tour and history of the building, the beds are so comfy, fresh and clean linen, the onsuite was lush, and I cannot believe the size of some rooms and how hard they have worked. The hotel is an ongoing project and cannot wait to see the results, we will come again and recommend it to everyone. The owners Lorinda & Paul make you feel so welcome, big thumbs up from Warren & Helen, thank you for a lovely stay.
