Detailed Reviews
Booked a last minute one night stay at Bowden in August. Jane was very prompt to reply to my enquiry & so we booked in straight away. On arrival, we received a warm welcome from Jane, who explained where our room was & how to order breakfast. As a family of 3, our room provided plenty of space & comfort, was exceptionally clean in both the bedroom & ensuite. Our breakfasts were brought to our rooms on trays (due to the present pandemic), at the exact time we'd ask for & the hot food was hot & very well presented. The location is absolutely fantastic for visiting Southport, close enough to the town centre & seafront, that you don't need to use the car. We were fortunate to be blessed with the weather which is always an added bonus too. We will definitely be back to stay again soon.

Jane and Andy are extremely welcoming, Bowden Lodge truly felt like a home away from home. Really appreciated all the small touches such as the tub of cotton balls in the bathroom. It felt as though our every need was catered for. I was in touch in advance as it was our first time travelling with our baby and needed to ensure that the cot supplied was large enough. Jane was more than accommodating and ensured that everything was set up for our baby prior to our arrival, including eating utensils. The cooked and continental breakfast options were also excellent with home baked goodies to choose from. Will definitely be back!

Had a fabulous 2 night stay in this beautiful property.
A lovely family run establishment which was spotlessly clean.
A great choice of breakfast with the added lovely touch of homemade eccles cakes and flapjacks.
Another bonus was a well stocked fridge offering wine, beer, water, soft drinks and chocolate.
You just write down what you've taken and pay on departure.
A short stroll into Southport makes this an ideal place to stay.
I highly recommend anyone to stay here and will most definitely be booking here on any future trips to Southport

We were visiting the area for a family funeral and we decided to make a long weekend of it as we live 250 miles away. After 7 hours on the road it was lovely to be greeted so warmly and made so welcome by the owners. We had a family room which was very nicely decorated and very comfortable. Our every need was catered for - including fresh milk in the fridge (rather than having to rely on small UHT pots). Our breakfasts on all three mornings were freshly cooked to order and delicious. They set us up for the days ahead. The hotel is ideally located - only 5 mins walk from the main Lord Street where there are plenty of good places to eat/drink, We took advantage of the hotel's discount card scheme with local restaurants and were not disappointed. We would definitely stay here again should we return to do more sightseeing in the Liverpool area or en-route further North..

I visited Bowden Lodge with my son and we had a lovely warm welcome from Jane the host. We were over visiting family and my sister came with us to check in and drop off our bags. Jane very kindly allowed my sister up to our room to drop the bags off as we were going straight out again. Our room was a twin. Quite compact but lovely and cosy and very clean. We were in room 7 on the top floor and we had no rooms near us so very peaceful. The rooms are serviced daily and they do have a sign about towels being changed. If you want them changed then leave in shower but they also ask that if you are happy to re use them to keep them hung up. Great idea as it's better for the environment. We were there 3 nights and were happy to re use. There is a mini bar down on the first floor and very reasonably priced and I would have been happy to use it but we were out most nights till late. It does beer, gin, chocolate bars and wine . Really peaceful nights sleep and down for a delicious breakfast, Breakfast was served between 8 and 9. You have a choice from fresh fruit and yogurt, cereal, pan au chocolate and can also have a cooked breakfast. Cooked breakfast was gorgeous. You can also try a Chorley Cookie freshly made by Jane. OUT OF THIS WORLD! There is a carpark on the property too but we did not use this facility. We actually stayed at Bowden Lodge a couple off weeks after the terrible tragedy in Southport. This did not put us off going and we felt very safe. Lovely people in Southport and well worth a visit. Thank you once again Jane and Andy for your hospitality and hope to see you again soon.

What an amazing place this is, we stayed for 3 nights with myself my daughter in law and my 13 week old grandson. Bowden lodge was spotless. Jane and Andy were so welcoming and could not do enough for you. The little touches were so nice, the mini bar down the hall, with room numbered fresh bottled milk daily and other goodies in there. Bottled water in the room and also a fan, if needed. The beds were so comfy, the breakfast was lovely and plenty to choose from. I cannot recommend Bowden Lodge high enough. We will definitely see you again Jane and Andy, and thank you for a wonderful stay. Dawn, Shannon and baby Cain. X

I just loved the cooked breakfast served every morning :)
Jane is an absolute sweetheart, and made me feel at home, making sure I had everything I needed all along my stay.
The (single) room was a bit small, but still good value and extremely clean. It also had nice equipments, including a hair dryer, complimentary coffee/cookies and a mini fridge with fresh milk delivered every morning.
The water pressure was really low when I arrived, but Andy promptly sorted the issue (the same day, and with a smile!).
I hope I can come back soon!!

Really serious, we have nothing at all to complain about, how frustrating.
We arrived for a five night stay to a very friendly welcome from Andy & Jane. Booking in was very easy. Our room number five was ideal and very clean. Breakfast was lovely with Andy cooking whilst Jane held her W.I meet in the breakfast room, ha,ha.
Parking on site with clearly marked bays was fine. The location just a stroll from the town and seafront with plenty of bench seats which proved handy for a wheel chair user.
The Imperial pub a short stroll along the road was wheelchair friendly with helpful staff.
Bus stops outside❗️
We would stay at Bowden Lodge again and recommend to all.

It is about 15 minutes walk, or you can get a taxi from the railway station for approximately £3.50
I'd say it was about 10 minutes ride away.
