We have stayed here before a few years ago when it was under a different name and that time it was excellent but this time we were a little disappointed as the hotel standards seem to have slipped. Upon arriving mid-afternoon for a two day break we got the lift up from the car park and discovered a used beer glass thrown on the floor of the lift - I assume this had been left there since the night before? Not a good first impression. The room itself was quite ok except the headboard of the bed was very hard and dangerously exposed with few pillows. Breakfast in the morning was really disappointing - at first were seated on a table by the waitress but then we discovered dropped food all around our feet and the table was dirty, so we moved to another table near the window. I immediately noticed that the large net curtain over the window was badly stained with old food splashings and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. Also some of the furnishings and fittings around the dining room looked dirty with layers of dust. We moved again to another table. The breakfast was very poor when it came. The bar area was adjacent to the dining room area so this put us off evening drinks in the bar - we decided it would be better to go elsewhere. A few years ago we thought this hotel was great but I'm afraid this time it was not. We would look to stay somewhere else next time we go to Southport.…
My wife and I have stayed here three times. The first two times we were pleased. The third time, which was a few days ago was a bit disappointing. It has probably been about three years since we last stayed here, and the place seems to be getting run-down. The rooms were clean enough, but I think there just needs to be some updates. The lobby is very uninviting compared to other hotels I have stayed. The complimentary breakfast was good and satisfying.
This hotel is in a superb location and offers great views of Southport. On arrival, the hotel has an underground car park which is ideal, and this leads to reception. Unfortunately, the auto check in machine wasn't working and so we had a short queue to check in at the desk. The staff at reception were great and we were given a slightly better room as it was ready and the one we should have had, wasn't so that was fine. The bar and restaurant staff were perfectly friendly, the breakfast was really good and check out was without problem. We took the lift down to the basement car park and drove away without any issues. The stay was great and we will definitely return.
Just returned from a 1 night stay (1st May) and had a fantastic stay. We stay at the hotel regularly and wouldn't choose anywhere else. A big thank you to Janice the guest relations manager who always goes above and beyond, no matter what. Also thank you to the maintenance guy who again always makes guests feel welcome when he is around, doesn't cost anything to say hello or smile. All staff make you feel welcome, rooms are spotless and the bar area is a nice place to sit, relax and have a drink. Breakfast is back to normal now, serve yourselves and again was lovely and well presented. Can't wait to return in a few weeks time.
Stayed at the Bliss for the bank holiday weekend. Food nice, rooms dated, beds not the comfiest. Bar staff were great. The breakfast was as good as any buffet style hotel breakfasts have no complaints there. Like it says in the title nice but not 4* £150pn nice
I don't get the rave reviews for this place. I stayed here for a couple of nights the beds were uncomfortable the mattress was awful and the floor was creaking really loud with a family of 4 this was very annoying. The breakfast was decent enough. To be honest I have stayed in better places. I would say it's more 3 star than 4.
We stayed at this hotel over Easter what a find . The rooms are amazing and the bed very comfortable. Staff very helpful and friendly. The view from our window was fantastic and the secure parking a bonus . Would recommend this hotel and hopefully will return soon
The hotel is in an excellent location, with all amenities and amusements needed or desired in walking distance. The hotel itself has a laid back feel, with quirky interiors, with staff dressed in their own attire( as mentioned in previous reviews) yet they were smart and appeared (and were) professional. The more casual look did not distract from the service and we did not struggle to identify any staff members. I’m unsure why this would be an issue for any guest, and it is perplexing why this has even been mentioned in other reviews. The hotel was spotlessly clean-how they keep this up with quirky, habitatesque furnishings is beyond me- well done!! We were given a warm welcome by a friendly and helpful receptionist manager, inviting us to book in for breakfast. Breakfast was perfect-hot and cold options, sweet and savoury- cereals, breads, small muffins etc. i personally did not have an issue with the coffee cups- it functioned as a cup and was in keeping with the decor. It’s a cup?! Staff were in hand and hot food option was topped up regularly. My child ate very well in the morning, which is a first for us. The room was spacious, warm, comfortable and clean. Plenty of towels, hot god shower and the bed was comfortable. If you wanted your room cleaned, you merely hung a sign on your door-perhaps this was why some reviews state it wasn’t done? All welcome information can be accessed by the TV in the room. Drinks in the bar-friendly service with a smile and professional service. Prices were reasonable for a hotel. Service for food was great, again, staff were very friendly, had a chat and were very approachable. They also didn’t mind making sure plates were not cleared mid meal due to having to do the usual mid meal, child toilet trips! 😂 Food was delicious and a kids menus - 10 pounds for two courses- available with a good selection. We had a great break away at this friendly, relaxed and blissfully professional hotel. Highly recommend- especially if you have children.…
I visited here with family for a birthday celebration and we had afternoon tea. It was delicious and well priced at £13 per head. Parking was free and you get it validated at reception. It's a great location and very easy to get too. Staff were nice too.
We have stayed here before but this time chose a waterfront suite. We were not disappointed with the room, it was spacious and comfortable. With a settee, two chairs and small table to see the views snd an armchair. This room has a wrap around balcony which you can walk onto but not really wide enough for outside chair and table. The views were great to watch the birds on the water and hear them early morning. The only downside for me was the bath was very high and felt slippy so we phoned down for a non slip mat which was brought up promptly. Thankfully there is a grab rail to help you out but despite me having long legs it is still high to get in and out of. Staff do not wear uniform, which is ok, however if they are wandering round its difficult to ascertain who is who. We only ate in for buffet breakfast which currently is being served by staff, two days out of 4 was luke warm, and that comment is being ginormous, as they plate up the meal then do the toast, which doesn't help. It was obvious they were short staffed. I must add I am not fond of the black composite mugs they use for coffee, reminds me of school 60 years ago! The restaurent can be noisy if busy. Bar is pleasant to sit and relax in. Staff on the whole were mostly pleasant, especially the young guy on the bar evenings who helped out with breakfast due to staff shortages. …
