Great room and obviously newly decorated. Lovely view, although the windows were very dirty outside. This hotel has been refurbished and some elements are lovely. The décor was quite strange in parts. The lifts had pictures on the doors of pop corn and ducks and were overly decorated inside. This made them feel quite claustrophobic.
The décor in the corridors and rooms seemed very in-keeping with the hotel itself and the restaurant area was modern but do not recommend the plastic cups used for tea or coffee. This I feel was a let down. The whole feel was that it wanted to remain as an up market hotel but with a modern twist, which for me didn't seem to work. We had a bottle of wine in our deal which was delivered to the door by a 'robot'. This clearly didn't work properly and was just a gimmick. It was accompanied by a staff member who could have easily delivered this himself. Overall I did feel we had good value for money and would return. It's a great location and the hotel was spotlessly clean. There seemed to be very few staff but the ones we saw were all polite and helpful.

It's great to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and would like to return. You had a few negatives which I'll address: Our outside window cleaners come once a week so I can only imagine you might have stayed recently between cleanings, as we have been hit by a few major storms. We're super proud of Betty, our Blissbot, as we're the only hotel in the UK to have one. I'm not sure why she was accompanied by a member of staff, as she is fully capable to make deliveries on her own, going in the lift, calling the room to let you know she's arrived...! Our cups are not plastic. They are made from recycled coffee bean husks, which is just one little way in which we can help the environment. Thanks for all of the other lovely compliments and we'll look forward to your next visit! Rhonda & Your Bliss Team

What an amazing, modern hotel in an absolutely fantastic location!

We were lucky enough to stay in the Penthouse Suite for a night at Bliss. The hotel was fantastic from start to finish. All the staff we encountered from the reception, to the bar and the restaurant were all incredibly friendly and welcoming. They made a fuss of our children making them feel relaxed and welcome.

This modern, clean and tidy hotel is child friendly and located on the doorstep of all the main attractions (its right next door to the pier). It has its own carpark located underneath the hotel which is free to use for guests.

The Penthouse is an amazing room which has its own living area (with feature bath) and separate bedroom area. There is a rainfall shower located in the bathroom as well as the feature bath located in the living room area which makes watching the television in the bath a real novelty. There is also a wraparound balcony with outstanding views of the marine lake and seafront. The room has a large number of floor to ceiling windows making it very light and airy. The aircon had two control points in both the living area and bedroom.

There were bottled toiletries provided in the bedroom branded as Prija.

The hotel provided Teepee Jungle type beds for our two children which we believe can be arranged with the hotel for an extra fee. Both our children absolutely loved this experience!

The room and hotel has certainly been decorated to a high and very modern standard.

Breakfast in the morning is served buffet style and you had to book a slot when checking in which really makes a difference as there were no huge queues to get food. There was a decent offering of both continental and cooked breakfast options. Staff were there to assist and very friendly and flexible to our needs, again a fuss was made of our children.

We did truly have a magical, relaxing time at The Bliss Hotel and it served as a perfect area to explore Southport including the Pleasureland.

Overall we were looked after incredibly well and will certainly be returning. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Southport.

In the current difficult difficult times for the hospitality industry the Bliss is like a beacon in the darkness, super hotel, fantastic staff and great food. Funky funny signage through out that gets the messages across without being too forceful. Love the bright coloured painted lifts, the baliense style dining area, large windows look out over the lake toward the sea, the staff had been made aware of my gluten intolerance and the chef certainly made sure I was looked after, proper breakfast served on plates with cutlery. The rooms are large and airy, crisp bedding, lovely toiletries, underground safe parking at £10 a night or free if you book direct to the hotel, could not fault this hotel in any way, I'm putting it up there with the waldorf astoria, if you want looking after do not miss this hotel, will definitely be returning as soon as we are able

My husband decided to take me away last weekend as the weather was going to once again be extremely warm and having just suffered a miscarriage, I found the heat was really bothering me and I needed a break from the temperature.
When we got to our room and opened the door and wave of heat and a smell of un-circulated air hit us immediately. We tried to turn on the AC but the unit was completely dead. We tried calling the desk but no one picked up any of the times we called. While waiting we noticed the window sill was covered in dead bugs (granted the room was so hot perhaps they died after the room was cleaned?). The desk was covered in coffee and milk splashes, there were stickers stuck to the floor and the counter surrounding the sink were dirty. Really made you wonder if all this went unnoticed, how was it meeting sanitising standards during Covid?
I finally went to the front desk as we couldn't take the room any more. However we were advised there was an issue and the AC wouldn't be fixed until the next day and there was nothing they could do. They said they would see if they could find a fan but I'm not sure how that was going to help. They advised they had no room they could move us to, except for one on another floor where the AC may or may not be working, and for sure the cable was not working, I'm not exactly sure why we were paying for rooms that were not suitable. In the end we did move and while the AC did at least turn on, it wasn't great. We also found a finger length piece of plastic in the bed - it looked like it had broken off someones luggage. We did check our own and as well anything in the room it could have come from but I think it must have been caught in the sheets/pillowcase. (we did give it to the front desk but I assume it was just thrown out).
The point that finally pushed it over the edge for us though, was when we came back from a meal and we asked at the desk if they had dental kits, as we had forgot floss and my husband had something caught in his teeth. When we asked at the desk they said they didn't have such a thing - except earlier I had placed our luggage in their hold room while waiting for our room to be ready...and there was a giant box of dental kits all wrapped up. I actually just broke out laughing and shook my head.

So they couldn't provide AC nor a working TV, and I guess we weren't worthy of the toothbrush kit either. We certainly won't be coming back anytime soon. Completely unsatisfied that the one night we have been away in 8 months was such a disappointment.

The only thing positive I can say is that the breakfast was fairly good, aside from the fact that you had to book a specific time.

Having a dreadful stay at what used to be my favourite hotel in Southport.
Receptionists are usually so friendly at check in but as I approached the lady at the desk a friendly man guided me to the automated check in machines. I told him I hated these machines but he was adamant that I was going to use them. They are great if there is a big queue but I was the only one there! It allocated me a room on floor two with a view of a wall but the main problem was that the room was absolutely FREEZING. It was like walking into a fridge. We turned up the thermostat and sat in our coats for a while but decided to go to the bar whilst the room walked up. An hour later and it was still freezing so we went to reception and someone came up straight away. He explained that if the card is removed from the electricity saving slot then the heating goes off. So he gave me an extra card to leave in all the time but the bathroom was still ice cold. He explained that it didn't have any heating of it's own and suggested I leave the door open to allow heat from the room to enter..but it didn't work.
That night was really stormy and when I opened the curtains there were puddles of water coming in from gaps in the window (see photos). No wonder the room was cold! The plaster above the window was crumbling so this is obviously an ongoing problem that management must know about.
I reported the puddles of water to reception who said they would tell the cleaner to mop them when she cleaned the room..but she didn't and so I did myself.
I'm sure if I had asked then I could have been moved but I was never offered a new room and my son was feeling poorly and I didn't want to repack.
He was too poorly to go down to dinner and I didn't want to leave him so I went to reception to ask for the room service menu but was told since December food is no longer allowed in the rooms. How on earth can a hotel be 4 star with no room service?
She gave me the leaflet for "Betty the Blossbot" who could bring mr popcorn, sweets or chocolate.
But I wasn't talking to Betty as she had upset my son the previous day. We phoned "0" for reception to load her with snacks but reception didn't answer. After several attempts I went down to reception who were swamped with check in guests. Where was the man forcing them to use the automated machines? I asked at the bar for sweets and chocolate but was told they didn't stock any and I would have to join the huge queue at reception.
So I returned to my room and, when prompted, left a message for reception to call me back. But they didn't.
I am a rewards member and currently stuck in a damp room with a view of a brick wall and an ice cold bathroom and my only option of food is begging Betty to bring me popcorn.
What an utter disaster of a "holiday". Thanks Bliss (NOT) !

I am truly sorry that you were upset and could not relax fully with your son. I have been reassured by several staff members that they did everything in their power to help, including offering to move rooms, which was declined (understandably, as you said your son was settled in that room). I believe there was some misunderstanding, and maybe we could have explained it better, that your key card needs to be in the slot to keep the heating running. Otherwise, it does take some time each time you start it again, to warm up. Food is served each day until 10pm and is readily available in our restaurant and yes, we do have our room service with Betty to provide special snacks and drinks. I do apologise that it seems to have been very busy at reception when you were attempting to place an order with Betty the Blissbot. Rhonda

We have just stayed 2 nights at The Bliss. We have stayed in this hotel before, and we will be back! Our room on the fifth floor was excellent, as were the lounges, bar and restaurant. From the staff on reception, to the restaurant, bar staff , and housekeeping staff, all were friendly and helpful, and added to making our stay an excellent one. Special thanks to Rhonda, Erica and Jessica.
James was most helpful in assisting us with our reservation, and making us feel so welcome, thank you, James. The cleanliness of The Bliss, and the sanitising procedures, and the location of the sanitiser dispensers, made us feel safe.
Thank you for a brilliant stay

We stayed at the Bliss hotel, on the 18/may/21 for a 2 night break.

The check in is very friendly upon arrival and a very easy process, everything was explained clearly by professional reception staff.

The hotel has been refurbished throughout and is very clean everywhere, with many sanatitiser's to hand.

We we're given a Very spacious room on the 4th, floor, superior double Room, I was told as a upgrade, room 414 to be exact. Perfect start.

The Room is very spacious with a modern decor style overlooking the lake, with view's towards the changing colour's of Blackpool tower in the distance, great especially at night.

The Room has a very large king size bed, very, very comfortable.

There's was a temperature control, air-conditioning thermostat to individual set the room temperature as you like it.

Bathroom, looks fresh, with a powerful shower And a very large deep bath.
Soap dispenser, conditioner, shampoo, body wash and a moisturiser dispenser to hand as needed. More covid friendly instead of bar's of soap.

The Room is soundproof,so super quiet. A safety deposit box in the room, however is Very low down. So could be difficult for some people.

Cleaning staff Very friendly with a polite good morning when you see them.

The lift from reception area,is now operated by touching with your room card to reach the various floor's. So no card and you can't use the lift.

The Lift from the car park to reception or ground floor however does not need a card. So for checking in And checking out very good.

The hotel, has a room service robot available.

We found the reception area's very clean and modern style.

We had pre booked our breakfast slot at check-in upon arrival,we opted for the 10:00 a.m slot's during our stay, which was perfect for us. This was the system for distancing and covid. Work's brilliant.

We waited to be seated, again by friendly professional staff, shown to a table, then offered, teas , coffee's.

The breakfast system was easy and clearly explained how it works during covid.
Food was very good, tasty and very filling.choices plentiful with toast's, fruits and fruit juices served up by the staff under the New system.

Some examples of the style, of the decor in the public lounge area's of the hotel.
Overall,a perfect blissful stay, in a very good location.

I stayed at the Bliss hotel in May with my husband, we contacted the hotel in advance to confirm that he is on peritoneal kidney dialysis and that we required our room to be very clean on arrival, but unfortunately this was not the case. On arrival, we were told that there was no room service, which is advertised on the website and that the restaurant was closing in 20 minutes. We did manage to get something to eat, but is was very rushed, the check in was also quite brusque and unfriendly. The room was not clean, I had to clean it myself with anti-bac wipes that I had brought from home, the toilet was particularly dirty, and smelled very strongly of urine. The room was dated, especially the carpet, and did not feel worth the £110 per night we were charged. The shower was broken, but this was fixed quickly once we told reception, and the toilet was cleaned properly on the second day after I had spoken to the cleaning team about it. Unfortunately, by then, we were unimpressed. I lived in Southport for several years, and I stayed at the hotel when it the Ramada and had a lovely pool, the Bliss hotel does not live up to it or to the Vincent hotel. It acted as an OK base for visiting family, but seems very over priced for such basic facilities, the Covid-19 safety protocols in the hotel we're also questionable and many guests were not wearing face coverings (even in the lifts).

Just returned from 2 night stay, have always admired this hotel from afar and not having been abroad this year decided to brave a short stay here. Booked a large accessible room with walk in shower as read previous reviews 're height of bath and decided hubby with had knees would benefit from this. Was given room 405, was exactly as described, lovely view, massive bathroom, massive bed, clean and tidy. Couldn't open window, no key! Reported at reception, gentleman went up straight away! Ask for more tea/coffee at reception if needed as rooms not serviced due to covid, suited us. You need to book a time for breakfast but on both mornings we arrived early and it wasn't a problem. Usual range of breakfast items but no self service, it is all played to your requirements, all very nice . Only criticism is that the serving staff were wearing their own attire, personally I would expect to see them uniformed with name badges on, this is after all a 4 star hotel.
Staff were all very polite and accommodating. Bonus of having booked direct was free parking in a very secure underground carpark, easy to access via lift.
Very enjoyable stay, we will return.

Just had 4 nights at Bliss Hotel. Lovely relaxing stay.
Good safety precautions set up, with sanitizing stations. Spotlessly clean rooms on arrival, even though because of Covid rooms cannot be made up each day, it was easy to acquire clean towels, linen etc. if needed. Good English cooked breakfasuffet stations. However, it was felt that the guest queuing system could be better thought out and improved. They had one queue for continental and one queue for cooket, and continental breakfast is offered and served by staff from bd. People were “crossing over” to join end of queue for both, and so eliminating social distancing in doing so. Much better and safer to have one queue (with number control), and go along the line for all, quicker too.
Lovely cocktails can be mixed for you before dinner which I enjoyed…..hic!
Dinner menu was adequate, and we ate there a few nights, it was superbly cooked, and the rump and fillet steak we had was cooked to perfection.
Because we were lucky enough to have glorious weather for four days , we took advantage of the lovely sunny terrace to have coffee and drinks and just relax. The quirky lounge areas have comfortable seating……watch out for those low hanging light fittings though! All staff are very courteous and helpful , a special mention must go to Molly who served us a few times inside and out and nothing was too much trouble for her. However,
Bliss might want to consider a uniform for their staff. Hardly professional in a 4 star hotel to see leggings and T shirts worn by staff with “Love” and Led Zeppelin written across the front of some?
All in all an excellent stay, and we look forward to returning soon. We would highly recommend for private or corporate use.
