Stayed two nights in bridal suite...second time. Round bed which is very solid. Whirlpool bath which could have been rinsed out. Food wise the menu has changed with mixed results. Everything is still swimming in a sauce. Had the prawn starter which was a bowl of cream soup. The battered squid looked lost on the plate...five penny size pieces. Steak...

Had another couple of days with Benny and Julia at the Brown Horse. High Stoop As always a great welcome from our hosts and a very relaxing and peaceful break. Rooms are very clean and comfortable and warm, below zero on both days. Food is fabulous and a great chef, nothing at all but compliments to everyone at this gem...

we spent a couple of nights here. Its not the cheapest option, breakfasts are extra, but its warm and has a large car park. Its right on the Main Road. Clean and well run. Near many different places, so a good place to explore the area from.

The hotel is about 20 mins outside Durham, and I turned up after 7pm on a Sunday. The place initially looked closed, but I found my way in and easily found the owner inside. Immediately he made me feel very welcome, showed me my room and asked if I wanted to eat. Although the restaurant was in darkness because of...

We stopped in for coffee this morning. It was nice as was the cake. This is a place we must visit for food. It is spacious and clean. The car park is being enlarged. It is in in ideal location on the A68, north of Tow Law.

Looked like a Truckers stop when we arrived, once in through the door the first thing we noticed was how clean the place was. Shown to our room and again noticed how clean and comfortable the room was. Met the owner and had a nice chat with him, seemed very honest and helpful. The meal was good, not great but very nice all...

I must admit, my first Margot Leadbitter/Hyacinth Bouquet influenced impressions upon arriving in the carpark were not good. To all intent and purpose, this was an American transport cafe. I would guess however, that the works were underway in the carpark were to improve and extend. For good reason as I was to discover. Our family party included our 1...
