I'll start with the good things about this place.. - Very convenient and close to Gatwick airport. - Friendly staff and breakfast stocked to cook yourself. Seemed like an overall nice place and location until we went to the room itself. At first we thought this is basic but fine for our 1 night needs. Then it all went bad from there. Our toliet and shower was blocked - not ideal when 4 wanted showers before out early morning flight... Tried to call customer service and the call centre (wherever located) was ridiculous no help what so ever!! Luckily as there was a few guest also staying in the property at the time let us use there shower quickly and we was so grateful. However would not recommend due to all our bad problems we had.
We were looking for a hotel for the night before our flight, travelling in January we were unsure how the weather might hold up so we needed a cheap hotel to ensure we made it to Gatwick on time. For £35 we were apprehensive as to what we might find but were pleasantly surprised with the accommodation. The hotel was easy to find, with onsite parking, within close proximity to Gatwick but not under the flightpath and a 5 minute walk to a pub/restaurant. Having endured a few disturbed nights sleep at the Gatwick Travelodge we had a decent night sleep here, the beds were comfy and the room was warm and a decent size. Although we did not use the kitchen the fridge was well stocked with breakfast items for communal use, and the kitchen was clean. Upon arrival we had not received the door code or the code for our room, however after phoning reception we were given access to these promptly. Overall for the price we paid we really cannot find fault with the hotel. That being said this hotel put others we have stayed at to shame and we would recommend this hotel to others who don’t want to pay too much for a bed. Should we travel from Gatwick again we would not hesitate to stay here again. Thank you for a great overnight stay.…
It is an unusual sort of place, and the price indicates what you will encounter, but as a solo traveller, the place was fine, but basic, if you are just looking for a bed, and not an experience it should be fine. The place is perhaps in need of a refurb, it has been "well-used", but I didn't encounter anything I considered unsafe. The breakfast set-up is unusual, but fine (a fridge full of eggs, bacon, bread, jam and butter), and the kitchen set-up like a youth hostel. You do get what you pay for, and in this instance, it is basic but not a rip-off.
Being fairly seasoned travelers we should've known better. Firstly, you get what you pay for and secondly, photos ste always deceptive. We booked room 7, a family room for 4 and yes its cramped but what made the room intolerable was standing in 6 inches of water after showering due to a nonfunctional drain, paper thin walls, steep narrow creaky stairs, short length beds, slow draining toilet. Very ordinary experience that tainted the start to our holiday The upside ? Self serve breakfast was fine with plenty of bacon, eggs, juice, milk, bread. Taxi ride was less than 10min from Gatwick Pay the extra and book elsewhere
Great idea with kitchen etc however i stayed room 9 8th until 11th December 2019 and room looked fine.On getting into bed and closing curtains discovered very stained curtains and bottom sheet.I left everyday at 9am and returned at 4.30 and saw no staff but realised maybe staff are not there as there is code etc for door and own key.Such a shame that when I got home to Spain and sent photographs no apolgy was given. Its such a good idea but judge the stains on the bottom sheet on bed and see for yourself.Still waiting on apology
