Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife & I stayed here on the night of 27th July 2020

We booked this hotel having not read any reviews. Our flight was early so we decided to go the day before and stay at this hotel as it offered a free shuttle to the airport and included parking for the duration of our trip while we were away for our anniversary.

On arrival, we checked in fine and was directed to our room. The room was perfectly adequate. Had tea/coffee facilities, TV, extra pillows, and iron on request.
Pretty much standard however some of the hotels facilities were not available due to Covid-19 pandemic, which was fully understandable. The staff were of eastern European patronage but spoke English perfectly. We drove into Horley for dinner at a local pub which was very nice.

Unfortunately, around 8 pm our holiday was cancelled due restrictions of the pandemic, so as soon as I had confirmation of this by email I went to inform reception. They were very apologetic even though it wasn't their fault. We arranged to keep our nights stay but obviously would not be needing the transfer to the airport. They said this was fine and that if we needed anything to just ring down to reception.

We left around 9.30 am after a cuppa. Breakfast was not available due to the restaurant being closed (pandemic restrictions), was offered a refund for the parking or a credit note to use if we returned after rescheduling our trip. We were not sure when our rescheduled trip would be or if we would require a hotel stay so we took the other option.

Now I come to write this review I am not sure these other reviews are about the same place. The staff here were very helpful especially the manager who even gave a bottle to take with us for our wedding anniversary. I can only give a review of our experience and it was a good experience. We would stay here again if we needed a hotel stay before our flight.

We booked this as a "secret" booking through Holiday Extras with a room and two weeks parking for about £50. I had some misgivings when I read the reviews, but happy to say that we did not have any problems.
Our room was upstairs in the main building, quite large, very clean and perfectly adequate for an overnight stay. Bathroom was spotless.
Transfer to Gatwick and back for a small charge, transfer out no problems, but along with another couple were left waiting for best part of an hour, apparently because traffic was very bad, but this did not appear to prevent other buses from Horley Hotels picking up a couple of times while we waited.
Can't complain at the price, and would probably go for the secret deal again, but would not want to pay full price.

We stayed here before an early morning flight from north terminal. Reading some of previous reviews im amazed with what people expect! We paid £68 for a one nights stay and 5 days parking. It cost £12 for the shuttle bus for 2 people return trip- that was very efficient didn't even have to phone up to order our return pick up as bus was already at the stop collecting other people- straight on!!! The room was all you needed nice bathroom. tv. tea making facilities. We ate in the restaurant which had a Mediterraneanstyle menu- very nice and good value.
All staff friendly although receptionist needs to be less abrupt! not a good first impression!
All in all would stay again and recommend

So I booked a night here long before Coronavirus took hold and paid a non-refundable price. The Corona Virus hits government says do not travel and then puts country on lockdown. I cancel the booking and ask for a refund as its not my fault I cant come. Hotel says no - they stole my money !

Now i get non-refundable and if i had cancelled because my hamster had died or something just as benign i would totally understand. However this decision was taken totally out of my control and something none of us could foresee.

Based on level of customer service i received from the hotel i would imagine the service of the staff to be just as poor.

I would say if you want a cheap place to stay before an early flight from Gatwick and to park your car whilst away, then this place will deliver exactly what you want, however the hotel is noisy all hours with the coming and goings of passengers for the airport, so don’t expect a sound nights sleep. Also due to Covid and the lack of customers the restaurant only had a much reduced menu, so poor that we decided to go down the road to the Kings head (see my review) the minibuses to the airport only seat 8 and they have 2 so at busy periods I can see that being an issue, however the airport is only 15 minutes away so not to long to wait for the next one and the return was quick and simple and collected my keys and pulled out of the car park within 45 minutes of my plane landing. £69 for one nights stay and 5 nights parking seems good value. Room/bed were very comfy and clean.

My room was nicer than expected. It was very clean with a comfy bed and good selection of pillows. It was a bitterly cold night but the room was lovely and warm. The room radiator was off, but the bath rail heated the whole room very effectively. I was in the lodge, behind the main building. Even with the window open for ventilation it was quiet, with minimal road noise. You do hear your neighbours opening and closing the door to their rooms, but I didn't experience any noise from my immediate neighbours once they were inside. The TV and WiFi reception was great. Check in was friendly and efficient.

Stayed at this hotel for about 7 hours before an early flight out of Gatwick. 7 hours were enough.
On arrival the hotel reception were reasonably slow to check us in and were quite quick to try and sell us extras such as car washes etc. We eventually got in to our room which was decorated like my grandmothers house in the 1960’s. This wasn’t too much of a problem as it was just a base.
Once settled we decided to use the hotel bar for a drink before bed. No drinks were being served on tap. There was a good selection of other options but they were extremely expensive.
The beds in the room were extremely uncomfortable and we were situated right on a main road with a constant flow of traffic all night so we struggled to sleep at all.
The one positive I can say about this hotel is the transfer option they have although this does come at an additional cost. They do run through the night though and this was ideal.

Through Hol/Extras we booked Copthorne Hotel
Gatwick months ago. We recently phoned Copthorne to ask questions only to be told that until 31st Dec, this hotel
is a government designated coronavirus isolating hotel.
They said Hol/Extras were made fully aware of this
and we should have been contacted by now.
We wasnt!!. We cancelled The Copthorne, and only because the gatwick hotels that we usually use
were not advertised on Hol/Extras we booked
The Gatwick Cambridge for 1 nt stay and 3wks car parking. 2nd Nov to 25th. Then 1nt stay on our
return. We booked a lodge room as they have
walk in showers. My wife has metal plates and
screws in both side of her left ankle due to a fall

We emailed the hotel four times but we were ignored.

I then phoned and spoke to 'Alec' who had a strong
Turkish ,(foreign accent) h⁹e was very unhelpful
and said go back to Hol,/Extras. Hol/Extras tell
you to contact the hotel.

Evidently we could not have a room with a walk
in shower.

We were so fed-up we cancelled our bookings
and booked directly with APH car parking for
3wks and Premier Inn Gatwick for a room on 2nd Nov
and 24th Nov.

We would never book with this hotel again.
In future we intend to book directly with hotels
not with third parties like Hol/Extras or Booking
.com.

Very disappointed and annoyed.
