Had a voucher we were given for xmas. Afternoon was what I would call okay. The scones were obviously reheated in microwave as they were dry and hard. The sandwiches were fine they were soft, cakes okay but not exactly exciting. The problem was the staff the food was plonked down in front of us with no explanation about what was what and that was it! The staff did not come near us again no refill of tea or coffee offered in fact they disappeared totally. We could not finish it all so I had to actully go and look for a member of staff to ask for something to put it in which we were left to do ourselves. We were then asked to sign a disclaimer as we were taking food out of the restaurant. poor staff service, is more training in customer relations needed? Probably.

Arrived 9pm after long and difficult journey. Asked if I could get room service. Told yes, details in welcome letter in your room. No welcome letter, which meant irritating calls to ascertain who to speak to to order. Was then told that no room service was available between 2100 and 2200. Tried to get a drink in the bar. Was studiously ignored by the barman for 6 minutes during which time he was making making margaritas very slowly. Finally managed to order room service. No half bottles of wine available and the sandwich was not as described on the menu. No plug socket above bedside table meaning no ability to charge phone and have it available for alarm duties, No shampoo or soap or other such products in bathroom other than handwash attached to wall next to wash basin. Mouldy tile grout in shower. Tired, institutional feel throughout.

The hotel seemed understaffed and very tired. I am not sure what there is to rave about on the breakfast front and everything seemed tired and sticky. Lights all operational in room and all a bit shabby but not in a shabby chic way...very disappointed overall

The hotel itself is an amazing piece of architecture and only a 10 minute walk from the station, but it is uphill all the way so a taxi is advised if you have a lot of suitcases. Otherwise the walk is pleasant. Stirling castle is only 5 minutes further walk up the road. The rooms are as expected, nice and cosy. Breakfast was excellent. Plenty of choice and a high quality Scottish breakfast! Evening meal was similar, good quality but a little on the pricey side. Spa facilities are great - they’re open 0630 - 0800 which works nicely for me, a swim before breakfast is a brilliant way to start the day. Just be aware that these facilities are also open to members not staying in the hotel so can be busy during peak hours. You also need a £1 coin for the lockers. My only complaint is fairly trivial but also pretty common in old hotels - the shower head over the bath is about 5’ off the ground. Meaning almost everyone has to squat to have a shower. Why this is ever done is beyond me. The waiting staff in the restaurant work their socks off and deserve to be more supported in the evenings. There was a young lady greeting, sitting, taking orders and serving all on her own (with help from another gentleman for serving). This meant service was slow on the evening. This team needs another person in it to speed things up. I also think charging £2.20 for a can of Fanta, and placing it on the table in front of me in an unopened can with a glass next to it is a bit cheeky too. But aside from the above points, I’d stay here again! I had a comfy sleep, a great swim and an amazing breakfast and the location is super! Thanks for having me!

How well I sleep is a huge factor in how I rate a hotel, and unfortunately the mattress and pillows felt like they should have been replaced years ago. I had a very uncomfortable night. The staff are great, and the breakfast was good, including gluten free options. The hotel is in a great location.

I recently stayed at the Stirling Highland Hotel and I must say that the staff were absolutely amazing, especially the bar and restaurant staff. (Well done Lara). As a family of five, we felt incredibly well taken care of and the food was simply outstanding. The staff truly made our dining experience memorable. However, I would like to comment on a senior manager (Derek) who was visiting the hotel during our stay. This manager took over the library connected to the bar area and had an air of superiority. They locked the door, which meant that the 12 comfortable chairs usually available for residents were inaccessible. Instead, myself and other residents had to sit in less comfortable seats and watch through the glass as the manager occupied the entire area. This situation created an inconvenience for other guests as well. People who came into the bar were unable to find a place to sit and ended up leaving without making a purchase. When we brought this issue to the attention of the staff, we were informed that the senior manager had claimed the space for himself. It was disheartening to hear that previous complaints had been made but had not made a difference. In my opinion, it is essential for customers to be looked after and for everyone to have a fair and comfortable experience. Turning away potential customers due to a lack of seating is not ideal. Furthermore, the fact that the staff seemed hesitant to address this issue with the senior manager indicates a toxic leadership dynamic. Overall, I had a positive experience at the Stirling Highland Hotel, thanks to the amazing staff and delicious food. However, the incident with the senior manager and the lack of seating left a negative impression. It is important for all guests to feel valued and for leadership to foster a positive and inclusive environment. I would like to mention the condition of our room, specifically room 231. It was definitely in need of an update as it appeared dated. We encountered a few issues during our stay, such as a sink tap that continually leaked, making it difficult to get cold water. Additionally, there were tea stains on the wall near the bin and a bathroom door that was clearly damaged. While these may seem like small details, they are important in ensuring a comfortable and pleasant stay for guests. However, I want to emphasize that despite these issues, the staff at the Stirling Highland Hotel were truly amazing. They were working with what they had and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. It is evident that the staff take pride in their work and do their best to accommodate guests' needs. Their dedication and exceptional service made a significant difference in our overall experience at the hotel. It is a shame the senior management do not foster the same. Although there were some room-related issues, it is important to highlight the exceptional efforts of the staff who strive to provide a positive and memorable stay for guests. Their commitment to customer satisfaction deserves recognition and appreciation.

The check in experience was excellent with very helpful desk clerks. Breakfast was well worth the money with a wonderful variety of foods. The lobby, bar, and dining area were clean and well taken care of The room was dated however, which is why I average it as a 3 ranking. The bathroom was old with a bathtub/shower that was hard to get in and out of. There was only one accessible plug-in that was inconvenient with no USB ports in the room at all. Lighting was dim and there was a draft coming in the window.

Had a lovely stay here with my husband. He’d booked it as a surprise for me and our stay included visiting the spa for a treatment. From start to finish it was just great. We were given a premium room which was lovely and comfortable with amazing views of Stirling and included lots of nice goodies. Everyone was so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was very tasty and our day at the spa was fab. The day included a facial which was so relaxing, lounging around at the pool and then a lovely lunch and a couple of glasses of wine which just finished off our stay perfectly. Will definitely be back. Thanks to everyone who made our stay so welcoming and comfortable.
