Stayed at this hotel for the first time on Friday 5th April, for one night. We arrived a few hours after check in as did some sight seeing. Customer service was poor. The lady on reception may need some customer service training. On arriving at the reception desk I was the first person to say hello. She answered back, and asked if we had a reservation. She looked very bored and not the usual greeting of someone on reception. After my boyfriend signed the form, as he had booked the room. She told us it was upstairs on first floor & told us where the lift was. No other communications. I work with the public everyday & I would have greeted a guest with a warm welcome. Felt like she had no interest in being friendly to customers. Room was clean, no bulb in one lamp, have to take your own shampoo and shower gel. We did however sleep well.

Good hotel staff were lovely. Food is great. The only couple of things like the beds could be a bit bigger than a double. A shower would be better than a bath. That is maybe just our preference. But would return if there is a room with a bigger bed and a walk in shower

Restaurant and bar good. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Couldn't fault them. Rooms bit tired but clean. Other than bar and restaurant the hotel could do with a bit of a refurb (particularly the lift). But great location and good value for money.

I was physically attacked by a group of non-residents in the hotel reception. Manager Chevonne Hutton was made aware of the group causing trouble throughout the evening and that they were non-residents. Non-residents have access to all areas of the hotel without any security in place. Chevonne completely washed her hands of the whole thing saying the attack was nothing to do with the hotel, it should have been up to the tribute act on that night to provide security. CCTV not working, manager on duty on the Sunday said 'It hasn't worked for ages and not worth getting fixed' but when queried with Chevonne, she said they were simply waiting on a part. After that one response, hotel are completely ignoring email correspondence. Shocking way to treat your guests!!

We didn’t stay here as the hotel was full due to a Fleetwood Mac tribute event. However we ate lunch and dinner here for 3 days and were very impressed with the food and the service. Particular thanks to Dee who arranged seating for our large family for dinner in the breakfast area on the evening of the event. She really went above and beyond to accommodate us. Also to Ryan at the bar who was relentlessly pleasant even when it was crazy busy. The lovely staff here really lift this hotel to another level. Thank you all.

The hotel was okay. Rooms spacious. Breakfast good. Overall staff were friendly, except the main one. We attended a family function and booked a room overnight in the hotel. At midnight the function finished. We went downstairs to the bar for a drink with four other members of our family. Two were not residents and were waiting on their taxi to arrive at 1 am. As we went to enter bar area we were told the bar was closed. We asked why it was closed so early 12.10 am? We asked if it were possible to get one more drink while we waited on their taxi. We were abruptly told NO. My partner said we were residents of the hotel, and as far as we were aware, the bar didnt close untill 1 am. The manageress started to get very cheeky with him. She said the bar was closed incase people from the function upstairs got drunk and argumentative and as he was asking for a drink, her point was being proved. My partner asked why she was accusing him of being argumentstive when he was only asking as a resident why the bar was closed so early. She then threatened to put him out the hotel. I asked her politely to please stop as she was the one causing the disagreement and to leave things at that, she then threatened to put me out too. I asked for her name and she stormed off. I have never came across such an attitude in a hotel manager before. I asked at reception for her name and I was told it was Chavonne. Never again will I stay in a hotel managed by someone with such a lack of people skills. She must learn to handle situations better instead of creating them.

The desk staff were friendly and helpful as was the waitress at breakfast. Room clean and nice. The instructions to get to car park really helpful, but the car park and entrance from car park needs attention. There was old fridges piles of rubbish didn’t give best first impression.

We popped in here lunch when visiting Stirling for the weekend. We had afternoon tea which didn't need pre booked. It was beautiful & everything tasted freshly made. The staff were just wonderful. So cheery and friendly and approachable! Nothing was too much trouble. Really made our afternoon. We went back in the evening for a few drinks and the atmosphere was just as lovely. Definitely be back when we're back in Stirling!!

I booked the Golden Lion hotel for 4 nights for work as I have to travel to Stirling once per month. I booked my stay because the price was good and the pictures of the rooms looked great. Upon arrival I was given the key to my room. I was initially disappointed because the pictures of the room I thought I’d get didn’t look like the one I was in. I had no heating, no hot water and 1 working socket out of 4 in the room. I slept in that room for the night because I felt too uncomfortable to state I wasn’t happy. Especially as there was a storm, I wasn’t sure I could check into another hotel at last minute. I notified the receptionist who did not apologise or seem shocked. She gave me a new key to a new room. I was initially pleased and began unpacking my clothes before realising there was a large amount of black mould in the wardrobe. This was accompanied by the black mould and slug found at the window in the bedroom area. I informed reception again who gave me a key to their “newly refurbished rooms”. I was happier with this room which came with a bath and large bed. The bed however had a large dip in it making my sleep quite uncomfortable. When I checked out, I was met by a man who lacked any customer service skills. He did not bother to ask how my stay was or say thank you for staying at the hotel. I felt too exhausted and ready to go home at this point that I did not ask for a partial refund, although wish I had. I do not recommend this hotel to stay in even for a night as it seems like a lottery draw as to what room you’ll be given.
