Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had lunch at the restaurant with my friends just before our visit to the castle. Very clean, well decorated place, with nice smiling employees and excelent food that came in big portions. Absolutely nothing to complain about, and I would certainly recommend the visiting 🙂

Stayed here in 2022, on solo trip. Returned in 2023, with my partner for my birthday. Stayed 3 nights. The staff are very nice. The food is great. Very popular with locals. Booking for lunch/dinner is very necessary. Room nice, clean and with comfy beds. Very near to Stirling castle. The Portcullis has no lift. That is downside. It is a very historic building. Quirky and quant inside. All rooms on 2nd floor. We managed it, aged mid70s. Girl did take my partners case up, when we arrived. I managed my own.

We stayed here for one night on our Scotland tour. It cannot be bettered for its location to the castle and has a very interesting cemetery next door. Our room overlooked the castle and the Wallace memorial (room1). Room was comfy and clean and breakfast was very nice with. Cold selection of cereals and fruits etc and a hot choice also. We ate in the pub the night before and it was very average.

Stayed here on our return trip from Orkney. What a great place to stay! only 200 yards from Stirling Castle and in the middle of the old town and all it's sights. Parking is just outside the hotel, the food served in the well stocked bar is spot-on and good value. The rooms are perfect given the age of the property and the cooked breakfast was very tasty and nicely presented. The staff are great and even though it was busy with drop-ins, we had fast and efficient service.

After an uphill walk to take in the castle and the views, this was the perfect location to refuel. On a cold day, there's nothing more welcoming than a roaring open fire, coupled with friendly staff and a warm ambience. The menu offered a variety of hearty pub grub options, generous portion sizes and everyone enjoyed their food - scampi, burger, steak pie. Good value for money, we will be back.

After reading reviews and speaking to the locals about how good this place was we booked a table. From the minute we arrived it met every expectation the food was excellent served by great staff (Kate and Lisa) who were welcoming and very friendly and accomodating. Not only was the food fab but plenty of it. We will definitely be back later in the year. And I must also say say when you order your sweat Lisa is good on the spoons. 👍

This hotel was literally at the base of the castle with easy, direct parking. Beautiful outside beer garden. Very clean and the staff could not have been more helpful or kind. Room was comfortable and very clean. Ate dinner there and it was SOOO good. Special shout out to Jaime Walker (owners son and fellow military vet). He literally bent over backwards to help us and make our stay special. Would absolutely stay again.

Had a lovely lunch in the courtyard here after visiting Stirling castle which is very close by. Beautiful flowers and fairy lights must look lovely on a balmy evening. Hotel looks good too and brilliantly located. Would love to come back here
