Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This only got a 2 because we were moved from our room into a two bedroom apartment. Otherwise I wouldn’t have stayed at all. You enter through a cafe which had a sign on the door saying the kitchen is closed. We were then taken up several flights of stairs to an attic room. The lift was broken, had we had heavy cases we would not have been able to carry them. The room was small and painted in very dark colours, but modern. Immediately it was clear the bathroom had not been cleaned. The toilet bowl was dirty and the sink and shelves had hairs and marks on them. The towels were rolled up and laid on the bed, but were damp with marks on them. The cleaner was called back to clean the bathroom while we were given complimentary drinks. On going back to our room I sat on my bed and noticed the pillow cases had dirty marks on them, as did the sheets! Once more I went down to the bar to ask for different bedding and I was asked to wait on the owner. After about one hour the owner appeared. We were only in Stirling for one night and we had now spent two hours waiting on a useable room. On arrival the owner moved us to a lovely two bedroom apartment. Breakfast was disappointing. No smoked salmon as pre booked, no avocado, no fruit, no cereal, no toast and jam. I believe the hotel is in the process of being sold. Hopefully, the new owners will address those problems, as it’s in an excellent location. The staff in cafe/reception were friendly and the decor in the cafe/breakfast room is lovely.

Started off well as parking available and only cost £2.30 as overnight is free and don't pay on a Sunday. Check in was simple and fast and the staff were very friendly. Room was big with good linens and lovely towels, bathroom was fitted well and good quality shower. The room needs some tlc and repainting but was clean and comfortable although the tea tray was lacking in tea bags and milk but a quick visit to the shop next door sorted that. We didn't eat dinner but popped in for a drink before going upstairs and again the staff were very friendly and good choice of drinks. Slept well as we stayed in the Bute room and it's very quiet. Breakfast was pre ordered (a particular pet hate of mine) and while the full Scottish breakfast was good, my order was wrong and I got 2 boiled eggs chopped up and one was almost raw which totally put me off, also only one slice of toast. You clearly aren't offered refills as none of the staff came back over to check on us or I would have sent the food back. Disappointing end to the stay but overall I would recommend for the price, location and friendliness of the staff.

Asked for a room on flat asked for a bath also when we arrived we had to go up two flights of stairs we had no bath and room was freezing cold. My wife has only one lung 🫁 I have major heart problems hence why we asked for a room on the flat. As for the heating situation we reported it at three o clock but nobody came to see us till nine o clock by this time my wife was in bed with her coat on.heating came on at nine thirty and went off again at midnight when we spoke to owner about our horrible situation she offered us a bottle of prosecco which we declined.

We upgraded our room which was very spacious, however, the smoking section was right beside our windows and people were very loud up until 3:00 a.m. so we didn't sleep much. I am allergic to mold, and this was the only place in Scotland that had me so congested I had to take medication. When we were eating breakfast (which was cold), as people were checking out the staff were asking how the visit was but never wrote down any of the concerns expressed just smiled and say have a nice day.

We used restaurant for dinner one evening. Food tasty. Atmosphere nice. Staff fine. Nice range of drinks. While the food was good, was disappointed with part of my own meal. My partners meal was very good. No faults. My picky issues, were, some of prawn meat still in shells. That's okay, but no extra napkin for finger food, no side plate for shells and no finger bowl. Asked for latter. Girl gave me odd look, but brought it. This is down to management issues, lack of training etc. These issues lowered my rating.

Brilliantly positioned central city hotel with convenient parking. Comfortable well appointed bedrooms situated above the restaurant- easily accessed via a separate entrance. Excellent breakfast cooked freshly to order and a great start to the day. The hotel offers the perfect base for exploring Stirling or using the railway station to visit Edinburgh circa 45 mins away.

Unfortunately the hotel management did not handle our booking well. We had made a change of dates in early May to accommodate our daughters graduation from Stirling University. Booking.com were excellent and very professional and accommodated this and the date change in conjunction with the hotel. We have email exchanges regarding this and even a call made directly to the hotel to confirm these changes back in May. We arrived at the hotel to discover they hadn’t updated their booking information and subsequently we were only booked on one night. They had to find us a hotel for the second night. They also had the audacity to ask us to vacate the room by 11 am the morning of graduation at which point I expressed great upset. We left and said we’d be back to collect our things after lunch. We arrived at the hotel around 2 pm to have no access to our room and discovered they had emptied the room of all our belongs and they had been put in the dining room of the hotel in view of everyone. This is totally unacceptable as they had been handling our belongings which consisted of valuable personal effects. We asked to speak to Management and we’re told to wait at least 30 mins. This is unacceptable as this was not our mistake.
