Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was an absolutely memorable experience. We were walking the coast to coast and of all the places we stayed this was the finest. The house is stunningly beautiful, with tasteful decoration. I was particularly struck by the uncanny good state of everything. In a majestic house like this one built over a century ago, there is usually always something mildly out of whack, a door that doesn't quite close right, a creaky this or leaky that. No such to be found here, everything is faultless and spotless. Yet it's no museum- it feels warm and inviting - and the breakfast was perfect as well.

If it wasn’t for the fact that rave reviews already abound - we’d want to keep Sevenford House our little secret! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Ian and Linda who could not have been more accommodating and friendly. Sevenford House is ideally situated in the Yorkshire Dales with easy access to many amenities and ideal for walkers. The Hanging Stones walk is a MUST and can be booked with Ian. Thank you for fitting us in. Ian’s "eating out" recommendations were perfect and I’m sure the following hostelries have a regular stream of diners as a result: Blacksmith Arms, Lastingham Royal Oak, Gillamoor The Moors Inn, Appleton Le Moors Sevenford House is a great place to relax - you won’t be disappointed.

If I give it 5 stars and say little it should tell you everything ? Just a bit concerned that Ian's breakfast apron is either getting bit shorter or is it he continues to grow ! I just hope they don't retire anytime soon but the lady cooking the breakfast must surely need a rest and at 60 she deserves it Can't remember her name something like Leona [ means lioness - no ] maybe Lena [ means bright one - no ] - Lara [ means graceful - could be] - Laura [means honour ] - Leah [ means weary cant be ]- maybe Lilly means innocence ] - oh I remember 'Linda' that's right cos that means pretty , tender woman yeh that fits - don't ask about the waiter's name Ian [ something to do with scottish gaelic - basically same as John in english So thankyou to Linda pretty and tender and Ian a Rob Roy of Rosedale

As usual a wonderful stay with Linda and Ian. We have stayed at Sevenford House many times. It is like home from home. A perfect place to stay in Rosedale Abbey. The scenery is stunning. Linda and Ian are always welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Rooms are lovely and clean and the bed is so comfy. The room has everything you need to make you stay perfect. Breakfast is cooked to order and is always delicious and hot. The cold choice is fresh and yummy too.

My wife and I have just returned from Sevenford House which we have been visiting for around 25 years, and we have had a marvellous stay on every occasion. Linda and Ian are perfect hosts - so friendly and welcoming. They have become friends as I'm sure they are to many regular guests. Everything about Sevenford is superb - location, views, comfort, breakfasts and hospitality.

Another visit to Sevenford House ( lost count of how many it is now) tells us what we already knew - it is an experience way beyond the norm for what is so much more than just a 'B&B'. A beautiful early Edwardian house and extensive well-manicured grounds with the friendliest and most welcoming hosts you could wish to find - and if you like a touch of mild humour with your mouth-watering breakfast, so much the better. You'll be deafened by the quietness of the location, broken only by the occasional sound of the wildlife which the gardens attract. Those squirrels, rabbits etc. know a good thing when they see one! But just read the reviews of others' experiences - we can't all be wrong. In summary : the best of the best - if not better!

Booked to stay two nights, stayed three nights. A fantastic sumptuous accommodation to stay felt like I was in a Jane Austin novel. Beautiful location very quiet with two pubs nearby and plenty to do in the area. Hosts were very helpful and friendly. Plenty of choice for breakfast cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt. Fantastic cooked breakfast. Rooms large and comfortable en-suite a little outdated and towels could have been larger. Would certainly recommend

We have been to Sevenford so many times, which in itself says it all, that it’s difficult to find superlatives. Linda & Ian are such wonderful hosts we’ve become friends over the years. The breakfasts are great with lots of choice, Linda is the chef and Ian the maitre d’ so we always start the day with a laugh. The rooms are more than comfortable and the views of the Dale, and the grounds are lovely. In other words we can’t recommend it highly enough. Ian has become such a polymath (that’ll get him scrambling for the dictionary!) it’s become clear there are no ends to his talents I am, however, a little concerned about his. apparent, obsession with mole-whacking. These little creatures, beavering away underground helping the plants grow, pop up for a breath of fresh air, and what do they get? Whack! I’m going to have a word with Linda!

Dear Norman, Thank you for taking the time to post your interesting review full of observations especially, like many country people, Ian's obsession with waging war on the wildlife. Take care and we look forward to welcoming you back next year.

After many years of camping at Rosedale Show, the 'epic' decision to move our lodgings to the nearby Sevenford House was certainly spot on. Great location, lovely rooms and perfect hospitality. The all-important brekkie was one of the best as well - Linda and Ian just make you feel at home. Thanks very much.
