Had a fantastic few days her with my adult daughter, 2 grandchildren( 9 and 6) and two dogs. Everything we needed was here even dog towels and treats, along with plenty of dvds books games etc for evening for all ages. There are even binoculars for bird and bat watching. Plus bread to feed the fish which the kids loved. Ther cottages are lovely, the fact they have their own garden as well as hot tub area is brilliant for the dogs. They are immaculately clean, lovely welcome bread milk butter jam drinks etc which is really handy when arriving late. The hot tubs are brilliant under the stars at night We all loved the place, the grounds, the people we met there, Gill was amazing waiting late for arrival as we got lost and being lovely with the kids throughout especially when we were trying to organise them.on leaving day making us a bit late. I'm almost reluctant to tell you how amazing these are because I don't want them to be full and me not be able to go back but it would be a crime not to recommend them to others and I am already planning my return hopefully a couple of times this year through differnt season to watch the nature changes. Thankyou you for a lovely time

We had the best time there the woman that runs it is amazing and I've honestly never had such an amazing time away it was our 1st one away with a dog and a baby and they provided everything so it was less to take in the car the dog had towels and treats on arrival and the baby had her own travel cot and bedding the hottub was so nice in the cold weather and Gill recommended a drive over the mores to whitby and that was one of the most fun drives I've done they had everything from a log fire to central heating and every type of pot and pan you could need and if your a coffe drinker multiple options of how to make your coffe it had something for everyone couldn't recommended enough.

Just WOW! What a Christmas adventure we had! We were blown away just coming down the drive, then blown away some more buy our incredible welcome from the housekeeper. Gill was to hand straight away when I couldn’t lock the door (I simply hadn’t pulled the handle up) 🙈 An incredible big fat Yorkshire welcome washed down with some lovely mulled wine that was left in our cottages for us to enjoy along with fresh bread, Christmas chocolates and plenty of candy canes for the kids. We travelled as a family of 14 and what a perfect place to go as a group! We were simply overwhelmed from start to finish and none of us wanted to leave including the kids. We loved the fact that we could just pop in and out of each other’s cottages but also have our own space. When they said simply bring food and drink they were not wrong. Everything was provided that we needed. Immaculate cottages, stunning scenery and amazing staff - what more could you want. 🎄 we will be back! Thank you so much! X

This will have been my 4th visit to Middlehead Cottages and I can honestly say it is still as amazing as the first time!! This time I arrived with my partner and another couple (it was their first visit) and seeing the look on their faces when we arrived at the 'wow' was great to see!! Despite our friends breaking down in Pickering, us giving them a jump start and then us blowing a tire on a pot hole on the way in, we just laughed because this was part of the weekend adventure and has definitely left us with hilarious memories that will last. The cottage was spotless, the hot tub was crystal clear and the surroundings were quiet and peaceful. Loved the upgrade from towels to robes for the hot tub too and the little touches like milk, bread, jam etc is always lovely. I'd actually forgotten how many little touches they provide. Had a slight problem with hot running water but despite actually being on holiday still, Gill & Tom were round as soon as they found out to apologise. Nothing could be done but if anything, the cold shower left you feeling fresh and awake in the mornings. Again we just laughed it off because we were having an amazing time, the cottage was stunning and it wasn't anyones fault. Gill & Tom have always been amazing hosts on every visit. It was exactly what we needed. We came away feeling recharged and relaxed and then our friends broke down again in the middle of the moors and the RAC came out pretty quickly and got them going again. We had such a laugh, all about those memories with loved ones!! Would honestly recommend a weekend/week here for anyone looking to get away from the world, recharge, relax and enjoy some time alone or with friends. I speak for all of us when I say we cannot wait to return next year and we're already looking at dates!! See you again soon Gill & Tom!! Thanks again!!

Just back from our 2nd trip here, we stayed in the meadows edge cottage. As usual it was great. Lots of room and well equipped. Be aware this place is in the middle of nowhere so you need to have supplies, shops are not walking distance. The owners do provide some basic essentials for the first night which is handy. Supermarkets will deliver. Take care on the roads, there are a few potholes (which are not the responsibility of the owners fyi). There are lots of dvds and books on site so you won’t be bored. Nice walks and the drive across the moors is a must do! We will definitely be back, if you want a nice place to stay don’t wait, book it now!

I’ll start by explaining that a five star review, to me, is 80% or above. Middlehead Cottages definitely falls into that category as the cottage, the service and the location are all excellent. I’m not sure I can add much to what the other 100+ reviews have already said as my positives are very similar. I cannot fault the host; the cottage was clean, cosy, had everything we needed, lots of extras for our dog, easy access to walks down to the NYMR. My only gripe - and I’m not even sure it’s the fault of the hosts - is the state of the forest track leading to the cottage. This is not a well-maintained forest track and is very uneven and pot-holed in most places. Our car had 17 inch wheels and it took 10 mins at a sensible pace to get from the cottage to the public highway. I wouldn’t take my VW Golf (18 inch wheels) down this road - it would ruin the tyres. Anything low slung would risk grounding out in places. If the road is owned by someone else then you really need to be on to them to repair it; if it’s your road then some of the worse pot holes need filling. Call me a townie, but some cars would not make it down that road in piece. You still get five stars as the overall package is very good.

We appreciate the fact that even though the road down to us is not the best you still felt that we warrant a good star rating. From the bottom to the recycling bins is in fact a public highway, not well maintained, the road from the bins to the bend down to us is owned by the forestry. We have tried, to no avail, to get it repaired. We are trying again in August.....watch this space. We do try to give our guests a good experience and hope it hasn't put you off returning

Really enjoyable stay in what felt like the middle of nowhere but not really that far from civilsation ;-) House clean and tidy with all the usuals and more. We stayed at the one with a jacuzzi which made it extra special. Hosts very good and attentive; they were on hand and quick to respond to queries. Beautiful location and would highly recommend.
