#18 of 40 Speciality lodging in Pickering
We're a family run, family orientated camping and caravan park in North Yorkshire. Situated at the gateway to the North York Moors, approximately 30 minutes from idyllic coastal towns including Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay. We have a separate Touring Field for tents, caravans & motor homes with hard standing and grass pitches. There is also a separate area with views stretching out over the Yorkshire countryside home to a number of Static Caravans for Hire & Sale. Our site is nestled behind the Black Bull Inn approximately one mile south of Pickering on the A169. You can take the Coastliner Bus and 'Moorsbus' to Pickering, North Yorkshire Moors Railway, the Yorkshire coast and North York Moors - perfect for those who want to leave their car on-site.

Can't fault the spacious site, and its excellent facilties would have given 5* BUT ..... There is a problem with the toilet/shower facilities (a block of unisex rooms) at the far end of the site where clearly some people do not know how to lock the toilet doors; on two occasions over 3 days I went to enter a toilet, only to discover there was already someone inside, who hadn'to locked the door! I spoke to the owner and suggested that they should put a notice inside the doors explaining how to lock them (lift handle and twist the lock clockwise), and was utterly dismayed at his response. He said they had tried notices which people had removed, and that if anyone didn't know how to lock the door, it was their own fault. So (my words) tough luck to anyone who doesn't know how these door locks work - UNBELIEVABLE!

We had caravan number 31 for a week and it was lovely. Really clean, well equipped with extras you don't usually get in a static including bath mat, cloth and washing up liquid etc. The only minor thing I would say is that through no fault of their own, there is absolutely no TV signal due to the fire of the nearby mast. Although this is no fault of the park itself, they didn't tell us until we got there so we ended up having to buy a few DVDs to watch for the week as its too cold now to sit outside on a night. Although they had supplied some in the caravan, I felt a quick email prior to our arrival would have been helpful as I could have packed some for my little boy (not that we spend all our time in front of the TV fyi) so a little tip is to take some DVDs for the time being if you like to relax with a film and a glass of wine etc. The playground on site is great for little.ones and the pub is lovely for food but it does get busy so make sure you book. I wouldnt hesitate to go back, thankyou for a lovely stay.

We stayed in a campervan for 5 nights in July. Easy to find and within walking distance of Pickering (about a 20 minute walk on a pavement). Neighbouring pub serving good pub food. Fabulous large pitch with a well maintained hedge to provide privacy. Lovely quiet site. Good faciltiies - shower block very clean. We did some excellent bike rides, took the North York Moors train to Whitby and did a lovely walk from Grosmont. Fabulous area. Would recommend the campsite. Thank you for a lovely stay.
