20 of my friends and family have just come away from celebrating my 40th birthday at Melhousecottages. The accommodation was spotless and really comfortable. John met us on arrival and provided an overview of the properties and leisure facilities. He was very accommodating and in each cottage there was a home made cake and bottle of wine. (The cake made by Johns wife was gorgeous!) We had Alexa playing with the pool lit on the night which was brilliant. There was plenty of space for us all in the swift which meant it was a perfect get away to have everyone together in the one cottage for drinking and dancing. Highly recommend to anyone thinking of having a family break however big or small or a celebration like we did.

Stayed here 26th June to 3rd July, 2021. Lovely complex and well equipped accommodation. Very clean with beautiful gardens to explore. Arrived to a lovely homemade sponge cake and bottle of wine which was a lovely touch. Nice swimming pool with separate hot tub on site, currently allowing one cottage of guests in at a time to ensure covid safety. John, the owner is very passionate about his accommodation and the grounds and this is evident in his eye for detail. Would definitely recommend to everyone who is looking for good accommodation in a beautiful part of Yorkshire.

Great place to relax and enjoy the leisure facilities. Great hosts and great location, central for days out to Whitby, Scarborough and York etc, and close to Pickering town Centre. All of the cottages have their own private garden which would be nice in summer. Outdoor Table tennis (under cover). Great pool with resistance flow and a great hot tub. The owners left us a free bottle of wine and a beautiful cake. Thanks, will visit again.

Booked a week at Mel House for the third week in October, two adults, two kids (13 & 12). We stayed in Owl. Great wee cottage. A lovely welcome from John & Peggy, a bottle of wine and a delicious home baked Victoria sponge! The cottage was clean, warm and comfortable plenty of space for four. The wifi held up well with no issues. The on site leisure suite was very welcome. The sauna wasn't available due to Covid restrictions but the pool and hot tub were great. Mel House Cottages are a fantastic location for exploring North Yorkshire, thoroughly recommend it. The pub next door was only open certain times, but I did manage a couple of pints and they were of very good quality 👌 Great holiday.

We have just returned from a family holiday staying in "Swift Cottage". If you want a holiday where you feel everything possible has been done to ensure you have a safe stay in these difficult times then this is the place for you. Owners John and Penny are extremely thorough making sure the cottages and the whole site are as safe as possible and are always available if you need help or advice. Penny gave us a lovely cake as a welcome gift along with a nice bottle of wine. The cottage was spotless , spacious and very well equipped. The Leisue Center is brilliant with a great pool and Hot Tub. The village location is great, there is a lovely pub next door which unfortunately is only able to open for limited times but is well worth a visit. Pickering is only a short drive away and Whitby and Scarborough are within easy reach as are the amazing North Yorkshire Moors. We had a great family holidy here and would like to thank John and Penny for looking after us so well. We have no hesitation in recommending Mel House Cottages.

A wonderful holiday in a wonderful cottage. 6 of us from two families (plus dog) stayed in Mallard for a week and had a wonderful time. The cottage is incredibly clean and well appointed, and the bottle of wine and cake on arrival were very much appreciated. John made a great job of making us feel welcome and comfortable in challenging times for the holiday industry. The pool and hot tub were a tremendous bonus and well used after some long walks. As the cottage, the facility is clean and comfortable to use. Unfortunately the sauna, toilets and changing rooms are out of use given the pandemic guidelines but that didn't spoil our usage. There are some wonderful walks from the cottage and round about but the shortest is the walk to the pub next door! Friendly and good food, unfortunately only take away but very good value.

Thank you John and Penny for another lovely holiday. Mallard is cosy and great for accommodating our visitors over the festive season. The dogs loved every minute of it. It's not often our two jack russells are so relaxed. It was lovely to catch up with friends in the Swan, which is very handy being next door. As usual, we made good use of the leisure suite, and thank you so much for helping with the flat tyre. Shame we could not stay longer.
